Your theme is amazing, and the use of light sabers is so appropo!!! My doctor uses "chips" that are implanted right into tumors to zap those suckers!!! Of course it is more technical than that, but that's how I would describe it!!!

Thanks Sugar.

My father is a survivor as well. In fact, it was his story and my Christmas miracle that paved the way for my introduction to a place called Christmas.com, the first forum I discovered where folks, like us, could gather and chat about Christmas. My father had a similar form of a cancer that Mike Douglas (the actor) had. His own mother died from it when I was only a year old. There has been so much progress made in treatments over the years that I am happy to report when I add names to "My Hero Cape", there are always more names in the "infield" (survivors) than in the "outfield" (in memory). This year our theme is whatever each team choses and my team is going with the hero theme again. I'm usually the team mascot, this year I'm going to dress up as a lab tech working on a cure with an creative idea I have to include Star Wars lightsabers to target different cancer cells. This year's local 12-hour trek is scheduled for June 22nd-23rd.

Thanks for your prayers, CAH!!! You give me hope!!!

Seawaters, you will be in my prayers! I faced the same situation last year but everything turned out just fine. I pray the same outcome for you!

MerryBells, Sprinklehouse and Trackrebel - I hope you all get well soon!!!

CM3-I am glad you got good news from your doctor!
.

You will not believe this but I just asked Wayne is there something big going on here in Dallas because Coach's family is here. Just then, the news showed a big game going on at the Cotton Bowl! I am assuming that's what they were here for?

I have been to the Cotton Bowl many times for concerts. My brother actually went there for a Cowboys game when they use to play there. We also watch July 4th fireworks from there every year.

I ran a 3k around the Cotton Bowl last year and there is a museum that we are a member of that is located right next to it.

The Cotton Bowl is a big deal here. =)

I plan to do so! =)

Cancer affects so many people. I cannot imagine what your DIL went through. She is so lucky to have you in her corner!!!

Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma was the third type of cancer my ex-DIL survived. The first one was ovarian, the second breast cancer. She was so far advanced that they didn't think there was any hope. Alas, she beat it!

I lost an adult friend to lung cancer. That was rough on me. We were close which was not an easy task because she was such a private person. She let me in and I will always remain happy that I earned her trust and friendship. I still miss her.

Didn't I say I was going to do something productive today?

I only have one load of wash in the washer...still waiting for it be done so I can put it in the dryer. It will soon be lunchtime!

Take care of yourself. Rest, rest, rest!!

well i haven't seen a new post from dawg yet! maybe their just too busy lov'in on their new bundle!
went to the doc yesterday, let's see, tonsilitis (which i've not had since i was 14, don't mean tonsils talking 'bout tonsilitis), ear infection, & sinus infection. it doesn't appear to be terminal so after taking antibiotics i'll be fine!
i tried really hard to catch up here before posting....freaking impossible!! i figured i'd do like star & jump in.
the weather is nice here today too, upper 60's.hubby's working up in the shop, putting in new receptacles, switches, etc. i can finally see it coming together. we really should have done it right in the beginning ( the finish work). afterwards i hope to see the peg board put to good use & tools put there where they go. he's got 3 work tables piled high of tools. he had to bring 2 EXTRA LARGE tool carts home from work just before Christmas, so we had no choice but to organize.
i really wanted to do my deep clean in the house today since most of the family is home but i just feel so crappy, & as most of you know, they ain't gonna do it if mama ain't gonna do it!
love & hugs to all of you!!

I haven't been since I was a freshman in college. Someone told me, though, they tore it down. But I bet they have someone selling French fries. Maybe someone will write a song about that!!! (Cue Radio Jon D.)

Do you know if it is still there? My weakness is french fries - I HAVE to have those! HAHA

Darn. I am also certain someone will be selling fries...haha.

RJD...where are you?

Gang, with the wife gone and NFL playoffs coming on (I love NFL football...my favorite out of all major sports), I have every tv in the house on NFL network to make sure I miss nothing as I move from room to room. It's a beautiful thing...

Today, I will do just a little work outside as the weather is decent and then will come in to watch games and clean house. Should be a heck of a day!

I will be around....see ya later!

2nd load in the washer and oven preheating for the pizza!

Hey everyone!

Lazy day today (seriously...I feel like I say this EVERY day?!) and just hanging out at the house. This is my last weekend before I have to get serious and get back into school mode. I am taking 6 classes this semester (yikes) with a total of 17 credits. The maximum my college allows anyone to take is 19 credits, so I'm kind of pushing it with my amount.

My mom is making a ham today which is one of my favorites! The ham didn't come with a glaze and we didn't feel like making one, so we bought some kind of Paula Deen glaze....hopefully it's good!

I think you deserve to be lazy! You are going to be very busy once going back this week!

caninemom3: I'm so glad you received good news from your doctor - I knew you would!!!

Seawaters: You are definitely in my prayers, SW. I will say a Rosary for you today! Sending nothing but positive thoughts, love, Christmas Spirit and ((((HUGS)))) your way!!!!!

jennifer91: thank you for the link to St. Rita.

Don't overdo. I did 19 units once when I was a junior at ECU. Never again!!!

What a wonderful surprise I know he will love it HOW awesome and have a wonderful evening and weekend.

Thanks to you and others who wished us well. We shared a lovely evening and he was touched by the photo frame and card and the choice of photos I included.

Oh yeah, before i go, please take notice of the lovely signature below...........
Auntie m. Did it for me. Is she the sweetest or what? I love it, thanks again auntie m!!

Glad you liked it. I was going to "click the naughty list", but hey, I decided to go the other route - hahaHoHo!

You are a jewel, AMD. I have to tell you that Joshua stopped by on his way when he moved to Maryland. I showed him the pics you sent. He had a big smile on his face, but he asked me why I sent the pic when he was going through his cowboy phase!!!

I still wear that face proudly on my hero cape! I lit luminaries for your mom and Josh last year, but it wasn't good photo weather so I didn't get any pics.

I was also thinking of having a bunch of huge coloured balloons and someone with a sword stabbing them, but I think a lab tech in a Darth Vader mask with a lightsaber would go over better with our local crowd. So far the best team costumes I've seen is the group that wears SKUNK costumes with "Cancer Stinks" printed on them.

Cancer affects so many people. I cannot imagine what your DIL went through. She is so lucky to have you in her corner!!!

My grandsons and her daughter (their half-sister) went through a great deal of worry and stress. She even made arrangements for my son to care for her daughter and he was willing so she could grow up with her half-brothers, but in the end, she was able to remain with her mom.

Today, is supposed to be housework day, but I'll leave that for tomorrow so I can listen to the old "Christmas Song or Not" MMC podcast special.

I think that sounds like a wonderful plan for a day!

Good afternoon, MMC!

Where did the morning go? I have been cleaning house for hours with Palmer helping me out every step of the way. Needless to say, I haven't progressed very far in said cleaning

It is a good day to stay in, though, as according to my sinuses/allergies, the weather is changing. Ugh! Not sure what we have in store for us, but I sure did enjoy the 50 degree weather we had yesterday and wish it would continue!

I am going to make baked potato soup chowder later this afternoon, and if time permits, I will make either a pineapple or coconut cake. I have already started trying out new recipes for the Christmas Season

Have a MERRY day!!!!!!!!!!!
