Woke up to some "frost on the barn" today! Quel surprise! No wonder I was cold during the night! I took my friend to Starbuck's last night for "dinner." I love their breakfast sausage sandwiches, so that's what I had! Then we went to Wal-Mart to pick up a few things. Yesterday in the mail, I received my order for pumpkin spice Hershey Kisses. I could not find them in the stores around here anywhere. I also ordered apple caramel Milky Ways. They are not too bad! I am going to use the Hershey Kisses to make cookies: pumpkin cookies with a Kiss put on just as the cookies come out of the oven! I also plan to make an applesauce-spice cake, if I can find a recipe! I will soon be off to radiation, but I will definitely check in when I return. Like the rest of you, I truly look forward to the special posts each day leading up to the Season. What a special group we have here!

Thought I would pop in and reveal another tradition my family does this time of year. Tonight the Great Pumpkin arrives out our house. All of our girls will put out their uneaten Halloween treats on the front porch after dinner. When they wake up in the morning the candy will be replaced with a present. The Great Pumpkin collects the candy and replaces it with a gift. The kids love it and mom and dad do too since we have put on a pound or two in the past week thanks to the large amount of candy in the house. Have a great evening everybody.

What a great idea!!!! I love this

Thanks for the reminder about Veterans Day, truly a well-deserved recognition. I have some activity sheets for the sub to do with the students. I also left some seasonal Thanksgiving packets. Next week is a "short" week due to parent conferences, so the kids will get to do something fun yet educational relating to one of my favorite times of the year. I will finish up report cards this weekend. Our trimester ends today, but the principal only gave us a few days to average the scores and "do" report cards. That is SO SILLY!!! Yes, please rush me! TTYL

Happy Friday everyone,

Today is our son's 17th birthday. We head to Pigeon Forge, TN tomorrow for our annual birthday weekend. Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg turn on their Christmas lights this weekend. It is the start of the Christmas season for our family. I'm grateful our son still wants to go with us, (it helps that his girlfriend is off at college). Weather should be nice; sunny with highs in mid 60s and lows in upper 30s.

Tonight we travel to Murphy, NC for another night of high school football playoffs. We are playing the 3rd ranked small 1A school in the state so our season probably ends but has been a good year.

We will put up our Christmas tree on Monday.

Hope everyone gets their power back on and has a great Veterans' Day weekend.

Happy Birthday to your son. Even if his girlfriend were home, you could include her in your tradition! I love reading about your traditions. What memory-makers they are!

Speical Post of the Day:

There is a fable where a community survives due to a flame, lit continuously at the center of town. Members would regularly come to it. It provided light and warmth and each member of the town took turns guarding it, ensuring that the flame remained forever lit. The residents believed, that as long as the flame was lit, there would be good will, community, and joy.

In a world, surely gone mad, where high wind and rising water seeks to destroy lives. Where divisions among its people , racially, culturally, economically, and politically, threatens to destroy any sense of civility. A world where vile and repugnant thoughts are allowed to dominate our airwaves. Yet, there still exists a community that is drawn to a flame.

The flame of Christmas exists here forever in our community. In our darkest hours, we seek solace and peace from each other. We celebrate year- long a season of light and warmth, joy, and good will.

We are the keepers of the flame.

And so it has come to this, four days till the season.

This made me cry. Thank you.

I had to stop taking the medication which kept me pain free. I developed a very nasty rash but at least I was pain free for a few weeks. I see a rheumatologist in December so maybe she can give me something else. Most of the over the counter products give me asthma as well as some prescription ones but we'll see........

Special (((HUGS))) for you CAH and Snowflake xoxo - Hope you are okay.

Morning is coming fast so I will say goodnight. Something I thought was cute (as only a pet parent will) - Tonight my husband was going to take Hermione out to potty when she came back over to where I was and gave me a look as if she were saying "No....I want mommy to take me......" Of course, my heart melted and out I went with my youngest little baby who is now 70 pounds xoxo

(((HUGS))) to all but ESPECIALLY TO:

CM3 - hope the Dr can find you a substitute medication but a whole month away, praying for you. I love the tidbit about your Hermione, I love when they do things like that is really does melt you!!!

on a not so funny note......Kandice is home from school today......yesterday around 5 o clock she told me she felt a bit nauseus.....at around 6.....she threw up everything she ate and pretty much drank that day.....she then layed down to sleep.....only to wake up 40 minutes throwing up on the couch.....she never had this...so I was a bit helpless on what to do...I gave her some tea and still water to sip on to keep the water household in her body up.....and put her to bed.....she fell asleep again....only to throw up again after sleepping 10min......I then dressed her again and we drove to the Emergency Room....so she can get some help......she was diagnosed with a stomach flu (of course I knew that)....and she got some medication ( rectal suppositories) against the nauseus feeling.......after getting home she threw up again....even tho there was hardly anything to come out.....so I gave her the medication.....and she slept until 7 o clock.....and then from 7:45- 9:10...now she is still kinda weak and not a 100 percent....the vomitting has stopped.....I am glad i went to the emergency room and got the medication so she was able to find some rest at night.....

Track sorry to read this about Kandice. Glad she was able to get some rest, I agree with SW be sure to take care of you too.

Good Morning MMC!!!! We got off to a chilly start here in central Indiana but we are warming up qucikly. It looks like we should hit 60 this afternoon. I never made it to the grocery store yesterday so I'm headed there today. Then I have to go pick up my niece. I get to babysit all weekend again. So that she should be interesting since she is saying her throat hurts more today than it did yesterday. I hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Made hope she feels better, you really are a good Uncle!!!

I have just spent hours reading loads of posts on this thread, it is so wonderful to find the soul of Christmas so deep in everyones hearts.
Thankyou for cheering up my day xx

Elf - I ditto what you said, this sure is a great place

I haven't been in the forum for a week now and I missed the Christmas mood it brings me. :] Well, my days usually pass very quickly because I spend majority of time in the university or in the library studying and writing my essays. I feel pretty tired at the end of the day, so I just make a dinner when I come back home, chat with my mum on Skype for a few minutes and then I'm off to bed. Also, I have to spend plenty of time working with computer when reading different material and writing essays so I after that my eyes hurt and I can't spend even more time checking different forums, etc. I was working a lot on computer today as well but I just came to forum to say 'hello'. I hope that you all had a great week because mine was pretty good. Well first, I was surprised by my landlord in Monday evening when I came back home and found some cute stuff laying on my bed. Here is the picture:
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/827/1007591y.jpg/ I was often complaining about being cold because my room is actually pretty cold. :/ The radiator isn't working properly and window doesn't trap the warmth inside so I can actually feel the wind coming into my room. My landlord had promissed me to get everything fixed by the end of last week but nobody came to take a look at the heater and the window. Hence my landlord was very sorry that I felt cold and left all these things to keep me warm until the guy will come to fix the heater and the window. Actually, I'm warmer right now. ^^ (I think she also turns the heating on in the mornings as well as evenings.

) Also, I got my first university assignment marked on Tuesday. I got B2 which is not so bad in general. Although it's not so good for me because according to lecturer's comment left on the cover sheet of my work, I lost my points basically for silly little mistakes. This fact made me frustrating. I was pretty sad and dissapointed in myself when I got my work back but later I realised that it's an extra motivation to put more efforts into my essay. Isn't it? ^^

Okey, I'm sorry guys for such a long and maybe not very interesting post. I'm off now to make a cup of hot cacao and read a book. I wish you all a warm Friday evening/afternoon!

Hey Vic!!! Good to hear from ya... Listen don't beat yourself up; I like your comment about it being extra motivation though, keep that in mind. You believe in yourself and the sky isn't even the limit. Now, you have a guide though think of it as that, a guide to know what type of mistakes to look out for in the future. I am sure you will excel.
