I may be guilty of mentioning the Spugs too much ... but I just had to mention them again on their 100th anniversary. Wish I could find a genuine vintage Spug pin, but I really doubt any of them survived.

MC I don't think you do!!! Now that would be a find for sure. I wish I knew how to go about digging up antiques like that.

I love how you create such a wonderful Christmas for your family. You make it so special for them. Let us know what they name it!!!

Thanks, Laurie! I try to make everything as special for them as possible. EA named the elf, Elfie! :) She loved it!

My dad phoned last night and he is apparently coming to visit for the weekend. I'm excited. He had initially planned to come last weekend, but he traveled a lot the previous weekend and wanted to unwind. I don't blame him. I think he drove about 30 hours! Our plans are a little suspect right now considering there is no hockey on TV. We usually watch a game a night when he's here. At least there is football. Maybe we'll go to a movie, too? We'll see...

Enjoy the visit with your dad! Praying for safe travels.

Off to do some reading, listen to Christmas music, and get ready for the kids to come home - gotta go pick them up here around 4:30. I'll stop back in later.

Have a great afternoon! :!!

Hi all! I miss talking to you guys. I am going to play catch up, but first I have a question. I could really use opinions since it is Christmas-related!

For one of my mom's Christmas gifts, I ordered her a Thomas Kinkade Christmas painting. It will be coming early next week. My concern is that if I give it to her on Christmas, she won't be able to enjoy it. Since we take our decorations down not long after New Years, she would only have it up for a week or so before we take decorations down. When do you think it would be appropriate to give her the gift so she can enjoy it? Some friends of mine told me on Thanksgiving since that is the day my family starts our all-out decorating. Others told me early December, and others mid-December.

I would love your opinions! Thanks :) :)

Good afternoon!! I wanted to drop in to say "HAPPY PINES DAY!!!" I wanted to stay awake the other night to ring in the season, but I couldn't keep my peepers open!!! Then yesterday came & went & here we are!!! It's the 1st Pines Day of the Season! Woo Hooo!!

I am off work tomorrow, going shopping with my neighbor ladies. I am really looking forward to it!!!

Last night I went shopping & bought all the ingredients to make MerryCareys parent's recipe for Fruit Cake! I have never made one before & I don't know that I have ever even tasted one. But here I go....

Hope you are all having a great day! I'll be ready to party at the pines tonight - no work tomorrow!

Happy 100th anniversary to the Spugs!

(this is for you MC)

Thanks for remembering the Spugs on their big 100th!

MC I don't think you do!!! Now that would be a find for sure. I wish I knew how to go about digging up antiques like that.

I've tried Google and eBay at different times, but no luck. It could be that none of them survived, because if kids or grandkids found one in a drawer decades later, no one would know what SPUG meant, so no one would want to save it and wear it. There are pin and badge companies online that could recreate the pin, but I know from experience that they usually require a minimum order of 100, which runs into a few hundred dollars---too much.

If we knew 100 people who'd pay a few bucks apiece for a Spug pin ... nah. cheesy

Good Christmas Season Day #2, everyone! It is chilly this morning, and I will soon be off to radiation. I have been having a lot of nausea, so I will also go back to the doctor to change meds. If not, then I need to wean myself from these! UGH! TTYL

I hope the doctor gives you something to help out.

Good Wednesday morning, my Christmas friends!

I walked outside a daylight to start my morning walk, and it was cold and drizzling rain. Brrr! I'll have to put off the walking until this afternoon.

Jacob came home from guitar lessons yesterday playing "What Child is This", and playing it well! I can't believe how quickly he's taken to the guitar. He was showing me what he learned while playing my acoustic (I keep it in the living room on a stand), and he broke a string. Grrrr. He has three electric guitars and an acoustic in his room, but he breaks my strings! Well, it was time to change the strings, anyway.

I hope y'all have a great day!

now, now Bradmac, you said it was time to restring it so there ya' go...Jacob just rushed it along. i bet he sounds great!

Hello ... I ordered a new artificial tree Saturday, and it's supposed to be delivered today! Don't know if I'll get a good look at it before the weekend, but it's exciting to have it. I haven't had a new tree for a long time, and I haven't had an unlit one for *ahem* a couple of decades, so it'll be a challenge to string the lights.

Not many lights and decorations in the neighborhoods around here, but I smile whenever I see some new ones on the drive home. A lot of people around here are waiting for Thanksgiving before decorating, I guess.

have fun when it does get there merryc!

nausea is awful. i hope it passes when you get the new meds.

Good morning, MMC! Hope you're all doing well on this Pines Day, the first one of the season! Sorry I never checked back in last evening, but after I spent time with the kids, I passed out on the couch - boy was I tired.

The kids loved the "Elf on the Shelf". I don't think DS understood it too much, but he loved the whole opening of the gift and looking at it all - he was too tired to watch the DVD when we did. I will probably stick it in again tonight. It's not very long. I have so many great ideas for the elf and the kids for the season! I think I am excited then them.

What is everyone up to today? DH is working all day, then he is working night shift overtime. I work tonight as well, so my sister will be coming to watch the kids. I will have to decide what to do for dinner. I will probably just hang around on here, read a book, and just relax!

Well, I am going to read some more of the boards. Hope you're all enjoying your day. God Bless and keep smiling! Thinking about all of you, your families, and furbabies!

i wish elf on a shelf had been around when my kids were little.

I wouldn't go to early. So I'll say mid December.
