Christmas Countdown - 2013

Ryan, we have a bunch of old houses in town here, but this is the one that looks like it is straight out of The Addams Family or The Munsters. It is an old mansion that was damaged by the tornado in 2011, shortly afterwards they had an estate sale and my wife and I stopped by to be nosey to see what it looks like inside, it is just as creepy inside as it is outside.

It is such a unique house, it looks so out of place in this town now, I always pictured this one as a haunted house.

Wow!! Those are spooky & beautiful at the same time.

We came across this house down the street from where we stayed this weekend.

I can't comment objectively because I LOVE Victorian mansions.
They are all beautiful to me!

Guthrie is full of them! They are beautiful!

I'm a creature of habit, and we always start putting up the Christmas village on Thanksgiving night.

The rest of the Christmas decorations, including the trees, start going up the following day.

That being said, I may just start putting some things out before Thanksgiving!!! You are so right....I've got to make up for that time that we lost =]

I just finished a Christmas afghan and have been making winter hats for Friends of Boston Homeless.

They were for sale to any one who had $3,000 to $4,000 to spend! They were expensive!

Thanks for the photos, too! Around here, I haven't stumbled onto any July Christmas blossoms. I'll have to visit Michaels, JoAnn's and A.C. Moore to see if they have the spirit yet. I just finished a Christmas afghan and have been making winter hats for Friends of Boston Homeless.

It is still early to find Christmas blossoms, but I have noticed some popping up here and there.

That's very thoughtful of you!!

It gets too hot to work on afghans in the summer, but it's great for making hats. I enjoy crocheting, and this way I can keep going when it's hot. So it's as much selfish as thoughtful! I send a box of hats out in November.

The owners were quite scary, we had our kids with us but they made one of stay outside with them while one of us went in, because kids were not allowed inside.

They had another building behind the main house that was completely destroyed by the tornado. It housed a large 1960's Mercedes Benz collection, most of them were damaged or destroyed by the tornado also.

It looks as if it must have been a beautiful home when first built.
