OK reading the posts about taking down the tree are making me glum looks like I need to re-post my essay on taking down the Christmas Tree; maybe this can help a little with everyone's blues...

I try to focus on my birthday after Christmas it is in February so that gives me something to look forward too

I will find the link and re-post my essay I think it will make us all feel better :)

Hello everyone! sorry I have been MIA for so long. there's been lots going on & just could not stop by @ all.

Our house is very somber w/out all the Christmas decor around. Big bummer!
here we are in January...big sigh!!! where did it go, that beautiful glorious month of December? I want it back so badly.

I hope everyone is well, safe, & happy! I will be back when I have a bit more time....:rudolph:

You're in the right place to get your cheer back.

Good morning everyone.

I am up early to get some work done. I was up most of the night as my mom was really sick. She had stomach pains and a burning sensation in her stomach all day/night long to the point where it made her sick. Not sure if it is related to her sickness or not, but we're hoping a fluke. Time will tell, but she still has the pains now. Not the best way to start off 2013 so please keep her in your prayers.

It's going to be a long day! I am exhausted so I think I am going to have to take a nap soon. Plus I have lots of work to do and a lot to prepare for starting back at school soon.

Drive safe to work and have a good day!

I hope your mom feels better.

Hi friends :)
We made it to Eau Claire this afternoon! Phew, what a trip.
Last couple of days were pretty rough. So glad to be here. Thoughts & Prayers for all of you guys xo

Glad to hear you made it!

Same here. I think the decorations will be coming off the trees little by little, then the trees will be packed away this weekend to "recharge" for next year.

For me, leaving the decorations up longer is a little sad. I usually take them down a little after New Year's to clear the way for the Christmas that's on the way. I have a little dollar-store tree figurine that I may leave out year round.

After having been here a few years, when I see anything pertaining to Christmas, I think of all of you. And that's a good thing!

I know what you mean, when I see something like a Santa, I think Made would like that, or animal or polar bear I think of CM3, classic movies I think of you MC, and so on. Even though we never have met, I think of all of you also.

The tree and all decorations are already down here. Since we go for the biggest tree we can find (and this year's was HUGE), our family room always feels so big when we pull it out. Feels nice for a few days. Lots more room to watch TV. Still, sad to see all the decorations go. The only thing still up is my Christmas village, which my wife allows me to keep up until the warm weather hits!

Glad to see you get to keep something up until spring.

Thank you for the recommendations, Merry! I'm not sure about "The Christmas Angel", but "The Romance of a Christmas Card" is free for Kindle, too.

Yes, "The Christmas Angel" is available free for Kindle, too. It's kind of a generic title---make sure the author is Abbie Farwell Brown.

Ok everyone, the dirty word of today is WORK!!!!

We get in this morning and first thing, there is an email telling us to be in the large conference room at 9:00 am. We get there and it starts with,
Merry Christmas and Happy New year to all our employees! Then we receive a blah, blah, blah, etc..., for an hour and a half on how bad the economy is, tough times ahead, they forsee at least another 2-3 years of bad times because of the current administration and their policies and bad decisions for business, etc.... Also, we will all see a change in our paychecks with additional taxes coming out. We have to all tighten our belts, be more productive, give back more to the company! Oh, the company did buy a new Keurig coffee machine, but you need to buy your own coffee to use in it; HUH???

So, I'll put in a another way; from what I heard thru my ears:

Times are tough,
And things are hard,
so here's your (a PG rated blank space here) Christmas card!

(Sorry for that, but that just really sets me off the deep end knowing full well that the management got their bonuses and raises and we get a new coffee machine that we have to buy our own coffee inorder to use it!)

Yup, just a lovely way to start a New year! No raises again, No nothing! The prices of everything has gone up and still going up and our salaries remain flat. I guess I should be happy that they haven't started cutting people loose, yet!!! I guess that will be in a matter of time!

Ugggh, I'm mad and it's not even lunch yet. I should be quiet, or they might take that away next!!!!

How dare you say that 4-letter word on a family website. cheesy

Sorry to hear that.
That is a rough day to start a day, a membership to the jelly of the month club would have been better.

It's a quieter day at work today, which is much appreciated. It's just about lunch time, and that's good too. Tomorrow's Friday, which is even better.

We haven't taken any of our Christmas decor down yet. We leave the outside decorations up until Epiphany (Jan. 6), and then the tree usually stays up until Lent (Feb. 13 this year). So we still have a little while to look at and enjoy our Christmas things.

Like that idea of the tree up that long.

I think this year is going to be the year where I enrich my life a little bit more with watching classic movies and reading classis novels. For example, (and I know you may find this hard to believe), but I watched Holiday Inn last night for the very first time. I really enjoyed it and I'm asking myself why haven't I done so before!

Now, I was watching WALL-E this past week (I'm a big kid) and there were some scenes where WALL-E was watching a musical and dancing to it. I would really to know what that movie/ musical was so that I can watch it.

I have never read "A Christmas Carol", Moby Dick, etc... It's my plans in this year to do so as well. Its a year for me to sort of reboot my way of entertaining my intrests and also education of the classics; and I'm open to any great suggestions~

Sounds like a good resolution. I am big on The Marx Brothers, my favorites are "Duck Soup", and "A Night At The Opera." I like the classic horror movies like "Frankenstein," "Bride Of Frankenstein," "Dracula," and so on.

HUH?? is right!

Makes me think of a place Mr. used to work. They had a big meeting one day where they handed out a bunch of pink slips ... then tried to put a good face on it by bringing in a plate of pastry and saying, "But we DO have muffins!"

I am surprised they didn't say, make sure you leave some money to pay for your share. My place of employment taxes us on everything, I won a "guess how many M & M's are in the jar" contest. They reported it as a taxable item. At least the M&M's were tasty.

Hello my name is Made and I'm addicted to buying Christmas ornaments!!!

When I took down my tree yesterday and put the ornaments away, I noticed that I have now filled up my second 20 some gallon tote of ornaments. In fact I had to put some of the ornaments in another box. So what did I do this morning? I went shopping with my sister and niece's and bought more of them. I think I have a problem.

I think the real problem is you need another tote. cheesy

Good evening,

My interview went well, I am hoping to get the callback for another interview this evening. After the interview, I went to the mall and looked for Christmas Clearance stuff, I bought a DVD with both Prancer and Blizzard on it for only $2.49 at The Christmas Tree Shops, they had a lot of other items also, but nothing I wanted, at another store I bought 2 boxes of C7 lights for 50% off so I don't have to have such a hard time finding them next year. Back to work tomorrow for the first time in 2013, not looking forward to it, I was hoping to head back with a 2 week notice to give them.
