Christmas Countdown - 2013

Good morning, to you all! How is everyone? I am doing so well! Checking in from Myrtle Beach, SC and loving every second of it. I don't care what we do the whole vacation, I just love be able to relax and sit, listen, and look at the ocean!

What is everyone up to today? Well, you know what I will be doing! :lol: DS and I have been up since 6 or so. DH and EA are still sleeping. I will let them sleep until whenever. That drive down is a killer, so I figure let them get caught up. I am on my second cup of coffee, about to soon start my third, plus there is a Starbucks at our resort, so I am good to go!

The weather was horrible on the drive down - it rained pretty much the whole way. Once we got here, it was supposed to clear up, but it really never did. It actually thunderstormed, with some minor flooding. It got scary looking out. As the day went on, it rained off and on the whole day, so we just ordered in a pizza and got adjusted for the night. We will do fun things the rest of the week. I know we will be hitting all of their pools today and they have a little waterpark for the kids, so they want to do that too.

Well, I am off to read some of the boards. I will talk to you guys later! Hope you all have a wonderful day! It's warming up here nice and the sun is peaking through the clouds! God Bless and keep smiling!

Hello!
It is a chilly morning here but it will be partly sunny today with temperatures in the lower 70's.
I am having a cup of coffee, listening to the news and waiting for the girls to get ready for school. I noticed the ducks are back in the pool this morning.
Today I need to go to the supermarket for a few things. I also need to go clothes shopping for myself. I would like to go by myself because every time the girls come with me they get new clothes and I end up with nothing. Tomorrow morning we will be going to a moving up ceremony for my middle daughter. She is in the same LPN program that my oldest recently graduated from. She just finished the first year and will be moving up to the second level.
Other than that, I just have daily chores.

Congrats to your daughter on the progress! Do either of your girls think they will go on for their RN?

It is chilly here this morning. Just opened up the back door and the whole house is cooling off, its only in the lower 50's right now.

It's 55 here right now and beautiful out!!!!!

Bad news...
My trusty companion of 12 years is at a critical point. Almost 1.5 years ago, they told us he had congestive heart failure and we would likely have been 6 weeks to 6 months....and here we are. He is a big dog who has exceeded his life expectancy and his back legs are just about to quit. We are trying one more thing at the dr.'s recommendation, and then comes a tough decision. My love, his trust in us, and friendship for my dog is about to be tested. I'm going to have to make a decision....and it's going to result in him leaving. I know...it's what's best for him....

but it sure hurts us....:-?

I'm sorry to hear this, coach. I know too well how a lovable, loving, big ol' dog can get in your heart. Last month was two years for me, and I still miss my old friend.

Harlowe & I just got back from our evening walk. It is nice here, only 69 degrees.

I am really in a Fall mood tonight!!
I just looked at the latest Terry's Village catalog, and it had their fall preview =]

So many cute things!! Can't wait.

And I just received an order I had placed on Etsy from a shop that makes perfume oils, soaps, and Chapstick. I bought some pumpkin and pumpkin cheesecake items. And I also bought 2 other scented oils from a different shop, one is Haunted Hayride & the other is Comfort & Joy...a Christmas scent. Love them!

Can the holidays just get here already?!

Last day of school. Saw some good friends retire and move on. Gonna miss them! Had a great ceremony for them and it was a good day...

Bad news...

Good Morning MMC!!!!!! It's going to be a beautiful day here with a high in the mid 70's. Not to much on the agenda for today. Just some quick cleaning to do and then I think I'm going to change the oil on my truck. Or maybe I'll just take it to carx. They are running a $20 dollar special and that's cheaper than I can buy everything. So I guess I'll just start driving in the road and see where I end up at. I hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats to your daughter on the progress! Do either of your girls think they will go on for their RN?

My oldest who graduated already has registered to take the LPN state board exam and is patiently waiting for an email so she can go ahead and pick her test date. In the meantime she has appointments with a couple of colleges this month to get information on transitioning from LPN to RN. She is definitely going for it.
My middle one is a little wishy-washy about the whole thing. She just completed a month of clinical work at a nursing home. I think she had a bit of a hard time with some of the things she saw and had to do there. But we are gently encouraging her to keep going. She put so much time and hard work in to it already. And next year will be different. They will be in hospitals and she will get to see and do so much more with the clinical work. She may find her niche next year.
We'll see how it goes. I may be asking you for some advice one of these days!
As far as my youngest goes, she said there is no way she is going in to the medical field. Its definitely not for everyone. She is undecided but she still has some time, she will be a senior next year.

Good morning! Chilly in Ohio this morning - was 45º at 5:30! Eek! Now it is absolutely beautiful though!! Wishing I was outside enjoying instead of behind a desk at work. Ha ha!

Putting the finishing touches on packing today, then heading for the airport in the wee hours. Excited and nervous to get on our way.

I could use some prayers for guidance, please. I got some more unexpected news about my father's unresolved estate. The current (second) executor is quitting; the first executor, who embezzled five figures from the estate, is still hiding out somewhere; the estate lawyer can't make a claim for the bond issued to her as executor until she's found and brought to court. And that can't be done unless I agree to take over as executor. I honestly don't know if I have the time or money to pick up the ball. My share of the estate, before the bond is claimed, is less than a third of what I've already paid in legal expenses to try to untangle the mess. The bond is for less than half of the amount she actually stole (before legal fees are deducted). I can't shuttle back and forth between Massachusetts and Florida if I'm required to be there in person. I don't know if I can afford the time and money to keep pursuing this, yet the thought of letting her get away with her thievery is unbearable. It's going to be hard to keep this off my mind while we're away. It'll be a very hard decision to make.

MerryCarey - Sorry to hear you are going through all of this! I can totally understand how it would be hard to let it go. Sending prayers your way! ENJOY your vacation though! Have a great time. Lord knows the mess will still be here when you get back, so enjoy the break!!!

Holiday, how long do you stay where you are? All summer? Do you work outside your home or are you retired? I was just wondering how you could have such a great schedule. Do you go home at all? Have fun!!!

I have a ways to go before I can retire! :lol: Our trailer at the lake is only 9.8 miles, about 13 minutes from our home. We stay there a lot of weekends in the summer. We usually go there Friday after work & come back Sunday late afternoon or Sunday night. Friday I took a vacation day, so I can go Thursday & spend the night at the lake & all day Friday too! Hopefully the weather will be good!! I try to go out there once or twice through the week after work - just to water flowers, & I like to walk the bike path!

I went to the doctor today. I am tired still, yet I hope to begin feeling better soon. We are leaving tomorrow for Mt. Shasta and will return on Wednesday. I will be back later this evening, though, before bed.

Awe! I am so sad to hear this. I hope the doctors recommendation helps! This is the worst part of being a dog (pet) owner. My pooch of 17 years - his back legs are getting weaker also - he's doing ok, but we can tell they are not as strong as they once were! It IS a tough decision. Sending prayers your way!

How awesome! We have been to the ocean in several different states/countries, but Myrtle Beach has the best "ocean sound" to me! I loved sitting on the balcony of the hotel just listening to the waves crashing in! I LOVED it there!!!! Sorry to hear the tip was not so great, but glad you made it safe! ENJOY!
