Christmas Countdown - 2013

I'm beginning to know how you feel who are undergoing remodeling ... they're currently remodeling my office building. The overhead lights aren't working ... don't know why! I'm trying to proofread by a 60W CFL desk lamp; it's been so dark and rainy outside, it's like working by candlelight. (Doesn't bother anyone else---all their work is on a computer screen!) I brought along a battery-operated camp lantern to see if that will help today. We move over to the other end of the building starting July 8th. Hopefully the lights will be working over there. In the meantime, they just tore out the kitchenette and moved the refrigerator and coffee machine into a work area. No microwave, no sink. The new kitchenette is supposed to be finished around July 20th.

Except for the insufficient light, it's not so bad. Because of demolition work, the office will be closed July 5th. cheesy And it should be nice when they're finished. The building is a former clock factory built in the late 1800s, with big windows and exposed brick walls, and they'll be keeping both features.

Tomorrow my wife is going to the New Kids on the Block concert with some of her friends to relive her teen years! :smile: Me and the kids are staying home...I need to finish painting the outside of the house. And we will probably go firework shopping for the 4th. Nothing big, but we always get sparklers and some firecrackers just for fun.

Well darn. The radar showed it all headed right at you.

Well, we did finally get a little rain last night. Rain gauge says 3/4" this morning I don't think my hubby emptied it all week though, so we probably got about 1/2" last night! We could use a little more. It feels great outside this morning!!

I have started feeling aweful all of the sudden. Ear is hurting, nose is stopped up, can't stop coughing...could it be a dreaded summer cold?

It's going around here.... UGH! Take care of yourself & get better!!!

Well, four o'clock has come and gone (the time the agency I applied at closes) and I never heard from them. I may be wrong, but assuming I did not get the job. Something will turn up. Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes, though. If I hear differently, y'all will know!

You never know. My niece was supposed to get a call after her job interview by a Friday, but didn't get the call until the following week & the job was hers! Keep your chin up!!

I got to talk to a wonderful lady who owns a restaurant called 'Rose Marie's Family Restaurant" http://www.jachall.com/rosemaries/
about a 10 min drive down the road from here.
They do Christmas in July stuff every year and serve a great turkey dinner. This year they are putting Santa on the roof, lights up and have an antique sleigh inside. They are also collecting gifts for a teen homeless shelter and food for the food bank.
I will go down and take pictures when July starts. I told to get on this site and chat with us all! Always great to meet another Christmas fanatic!!

I am doing great thank you, tired from work. Tomorrow is expected to be very busy because it is the start of our Canada Day weekend. Lots of people going to the cottage and camping. So of course that means stocking up on food!

Ugghh; I can't believe this, my left eye was bothering me all day at work yesterday, so I go to one of those walk-in clinics late last night and they tell me that I have pink eye! I have never had that (to my knowledge) in my life... They gave me drops to use and I did; but it kept me up half the night last night. So, this morning when I get up and go look in the mirror, the whole lower part of my face (right under my eye) is all swollen up, my throat is sore and my ears hurts...Looks like I need to make a trip to see my personal doctor this morning to get some antibiotics!

This is a lovely way to start a Friday or any other day that is! :x

Happy Friday!!! I have another 75 minutes of work until vacation time!!!! YAY!!! Unfortunately our community has been saddened again - a young mother of 3 youg kids (she was 36) was killed in a car accident last night! She pulled out infront of a semi. Thankfully she was by herself. But it's just so sad! Her & her hubby are awesome people & our town is in shock this morning. My hubby's sister/husband are good friends with them. Can't really think about anything else! Please send up a prayer for her friends & family! Makes you wonder what is going on! So many tragic things around here already this year!!

On a lighter note...we have a wedding tomorrow (our good friends daughter) & no plans Sunday/Monday/Tuesday - we will probably be staying at the lake. Wed is a 4th of July party at our friends & then back to no plans except being at the lake Thurs/Fri/Sat/Sun!! :grin: Two other couple that we run around with are on vacation all week too, so we might do a little golfing/boating/convertible riding/bicycle riding... flying by the seat of our pants! Lol!

Well, I always loved Jean Harlow & thought she was a beautiful actress.

And when Adrian & I were trying to decide on a name for her, Harlowe was the only one we could agree on!

So, we added an E since I spell my name with an E. I suggested the idea of giving her Jean as a middle name as an homage to Jean Harlowe & my admiration of her..

I also call Har my little beauty queen, so it works!!





Oh, just a funny little story, when we adopted Har from our friends, their daughters had named her Mariposa, after their Barbie..so cute...but we had to pick our own name for her. She definitely is a Harlowe <3

I almost asked if it was for Jean Harlow, but realized the names are spelled differently, and remembered not everyone is a classic movie "nerd" like me. I think that is awesome!

By the way, one of my favorite Jean Harlow films is Libeled Lady from 1936. I love that movie! She is in it with one of my all time favorite actors (William Powell-whom I share a birthday with, by the way :smile. I believe Powell and Harlow were in a relationship at the time of her death. It's very sad that she died so young.

Well, Harlowe Jean is a nice name for a very cute little doggy girl!

Ugghh; I can't believe this, my left eye was bothering me all day at work yesterday, so I go to one of those walk-in clinics late last night and they tell me that I have pink eye! I have never had that (to my knowledge) in my life... They gave me drops to use and I did; but it kept me up half the night last night. My daughter had a bad case of pink eye recently. Her eyes were swollen and hurt too, it's scary! Be consistent with the eye drops, they do work. Hope you feel better very, very soon!!!

Thank you! There aren't any views to be had around here---we're in a residential/retail area---but I'm hoping to get a window so I can put my little barn (one of my dad's childhood toys) on the sill. At Christmastime I put the little characters from Rudolph in there and put the Bumble on the roof. I'd miss that.
