Is there a way you could get the appointment right after work? Explain to the prospective employer that you really don't want to take off more time than necessary. Or, could you schedule another appointment toward the end of the work day and take off enough time to include the interview? I have done that before: schedule a doctor's appointment for, say, 3 p.m. and take off for the rest of that day and go to the interview also. Is there another appointment that you could take one of your kids to and include the interview? I think if you are truthful with your present employer, she will appreciate your honesty, especially if you can schedule the appointment as late in the day as possible. I also think your prospective employer will appreciate that, too! I truly hope you can find a way to go to the interview with a clear conscience.

I need some advice, friends! Little bit of story to set it up...

I was off today for the funeral. I received a call from an organization this afternoon asking me to come in tomorrow afternoon for a job interview! I'm excited, but I know I cannot just take vacation time tomorrow without giving a reason (in other words, I can't just say I have stuff to do and need off as the chances of getting it are slim, particularly since I was off today). My boss has mentioned that she knew once I graduated I would be moving on probably, and we are on good terms about it. She has mentioned that she thinks I'll be finding a different job soon.

I won't lie about why I'm taking off tomorrow, and I won't lie and just call in sick. I'm a bit nervous about telling my boss, but feel honesty is best. I feel I should just explain that this chance has come up and I would appreciate the time off. It's a gamble, because I don't want her to get mad, but I also don't want this opportunity slip by. What would y'all do?

Ryan, would this be something you could do for your appointment--go in early and get off early for your appointment?

Oh boy, another scorcher of a day here today folks, TTL I work in the AC...

I got up at 4:15 this morning so that I could get to work early so that I could take a few hours off work this morning to take my grandfather to the heart doctor for a routine check-up. I goofed up and read the nurses handwriting wrong and I thought our appointment was at 11:15 am, but instead it was 11:45 am. We got there too early!

Uggggh, I had to wait 55 minutes before the nurse called us back and then, the doctor himself ended up being about another hour behind schedule. I wasn't too thrilled about that, almost 2 hours of waiting before we even saw the doc. needless to say, everything checked out ok and the doc say he looks good...

I went back to the office and still got my 8 hours in today. I think the rest of the night will be dinner, (check), shower (check), some MMC, a Christmas movie and a bowl of peanut butter and chocolate Ice Cream....
:-D

That ice cream sounds SO good!!!

Hey yea Ryan, I didn't even think about that, good call Seawaters! Maybe they will let you make up the time either by coming in early, staying late or a little of both? I guess it never hurts to ask....

Is that part of a set, I really like it? where did you end up finding such a wonderful Fall Piece?

Thanks, xmastidings =]

It is a stand alone piece. I found it on the Bradford Exchange. It's a Thomas Kinkade piece. My only complaint is that it's smaller than I had hoped ;) I wish it was life sized!
But I still love it!!

That would work! Only the vent is up around the ceiling ...

I once had my desk moved to right below a ceiling supply air diffuser (24"x24") and it felt like all it did was to dump that cold air, right on top of my head. I asked them (the management) to do something about it and they said it wasn't on their priority list.

So, I got a stiff piece of cardboard, cut it to fit the 24x24 inch supply air diffuser and I got up on my desk one evening when no one was there and placed it into the ceiling grid so that it covered the whole opening.... Problem solved!
(Food for thought....)

I think it's mostly exhaustion from the heat & humidity! I'm having trouble staying awake in the afternoons, too.

Yea, me too! I've been tossing and turning so much at night because I'm hot one minute, kicking the covers off, then chilly the next, pulling them right back on, and so on... I got tired of it so last night I went down stairs and set the thermostat for 71 degrees!

I've been noticing lately that I've been hitting the coffee pot allot more during the time frame of between 1-3 pm....

It's 4am...Time to make the Coffee....

ME to. scooby has just about stopped panting now. had to put the roof fan on full power to keep him cool. i pity poor animals in this heat. and it gives another 2 weeks of it. an off to lapland if it does lol
Oh I feel so bad for the animals too. I have only been walking the dogs early in the morning and late at night. But with the humidity that we have been having it is too warm no matter what time of the day it is. It stinks!
