Hello everyone. At lunch I went to a nearby town called Arcadia, off the old Route 66 (I'm a sucker for Americana and nostalgia!). I've been there many times before, but since I'm about to leave this job and won't be so close, I went one last time (for a while, anyway).

There's an old round barn that's a Route 66 landmark built in 1898. Pretty cool!



Here's a shot of the inside, on the second floor. The ceiling is very cool (looks like you're in an upside down wicker basket).

Good evening, everyone! How are all of you? I am doing okay. Not feeling 100% today, but I will pull through. Tonight is my night off, so I am planning on trying to rest.

What are your plans for tonight? I have to go to Pre K orientation tonight, from 6:30 to 8:30 for EA, so my MIL is coming to watch the kids, since my DH is working. Other than that, I will stop back by the Pines tonight!

Good afternoon, MMC!

I have a lot to do again today and not much energy. A main branch on one of the peach trees snapped off - I hope the poor tree can recover. There is a half bushel of peaches awaiting me to cook up/freeze - something! Out of ideas, though, so I am going to browse some cooking sites and see what I can come up with. There will be bushels more in the next week or so - I had best come up with something quick!

I know here the food banks love it when people bring in fresh produce.

I took a bunch of zucchini to the local food bank one year and they didn't want any. Apparently other people had the same idea of sharing their bounty, but the food bank recipients did not want anything fresh, just canned or boxed items, so all the produce rotted and made quite the stinky mess. I have to wait until Tuesday or Wednesday to take some to the Mission store.

I have a peach dump cake in the slow cooker - smells yummy! The other peaches I am going to puree and make peach butter (thank you for the idea, made! :thumbsup: ) or freeze. Going to call it a night on here.
