Hello All--

It's been probably a year since I actually posted anything in the countdown--my desktop at home went on the fritz for a bit, and it's so hard for me to jump back in once I get out for a bit! But I've been reading off and on, and it's good to see familiar names. I hope everyone is doing well! I am preparing not only for Thanksgiving and Christmas, but my youngest daughter's wedding in January! Fun times! On the not so great side, this coming New Year's Eve will mark the 10th anniversary of my kids' dad's death. My girls haven't spoken much about it, but I know it's sad for them--especially my youngest, who won't get to have her dad walk her down the aisle. She'll have her stepdad and her dad's "double cousin" do the honors, but of course it isn't the same. Anyway, just wanted to touch in for a bit, and hopefully start posting again!

Anne

Well they just issued a winter storm advisory from 4pm tomorrow until 9am Monday. So the snow shovel has come out of it's hiding spot and is now resting beside the front door. Hopefully that will be enough to scare off anything that is headed our way.

I don't know how much snow we're in for this winter, but I know they're calling for a cold one. I like the snow for about a month so I can take photos and then I get tired of cleaning off the car and watching out for bad drivers, plus the snow plows are so busy they can't keep up with their mission and nobody knows what side of the road belongs to them, etc. When I was a kid snow was more welcome because we would build snow forts in our backyard and snow families in the front and go tobogganing and for sleigh rides and cross-country skiing, but I prefer indoor exercise these days.

My cousin lost her dad when she was 7 years old and she still misses him so I'm sure your children think about their dad and miss him too. Hopefully the excitement of the wedding, although mixed with a bit of sorrow, will bring you joy. A wedding in January is a nice way to start a New Year.
Hope you'll get time to swing by again - I was absent for too long myself and at this festive time of year, I feel drawn to MMC like a merry magnet.

Good morning, everyone!

It's the first weekend of the Christmas Season! Kim and I are going to brave the shopping world today and attempt to purchase a few things. We're heading down to Bayshore Shopping Centre in hopes to spot some mall Christmas decorations and a few gifts for her nephews. We also need to make a few last minute purchases for our home decorations. Hopefully we don't spend too much money.

It's a clear blue sky in Ottawa today. Temperatures are to reach a high just above the freezing mark. Brr! I forgot to mention, yesterday, Simon experienced his first snowfall. Kim has new work hours, so she is off on Fridays... Simon was quite confused while watching the fluffy stuff dance its way down from the sky. Kim sent me a video. It was quite cute!

Well, I should begetting ready. I think were already about 30 minutes behind. Hopefully we're not out until 4. We have a busy day ahead of us. Aside from the shopping, which includes groceries, we also have to attend my friend Scott's 31st birthday celebration! I am actually not sure if it is a surprise. His girlfriend is hosting a bacon party. We all have to bring something that has bacon! It should be delicious. Kim is not quite yet sure what we will bring. She's excited to try making something though.

Have a great Saturday, everyone! The first weekend of the Christmas Season has arrived! Be sure to do something extra Christmassy today!

A bacon party?!!! That is my type of party.

A rather late Saturday hello :-) to everyone!

It's great reading in the posts about your decorations going up, plans for decorating, shopping, etc. Very festive!

I'm feeling festive today myself. Here's why. I have a spinet piano that I've had since I was 7 years old. I brought it here with me when I moved to Massachusetts to get married. I get it tuned every year before Thanksgiving, even though I rarely get the chance to play it---when I DO play it, it's Christmas music for the season. I realized just this morning, as I listened to the tuner striking the keys and tuning the strings, starting at the bass end and working her way up to the treble keys, that it is one of the sounds of the season, and it made me smile. I never considered it a sign of the season before, but now I know it's another little milestone that means "Christmas is coming!"

I don't get any practice in, and I stumble through my favorite sheet music during the season and think of how much better I could play when I was in my teens---but Mr. absolutely loves it and thinks it sounds wonderful. I think I'll play a little later!

I'm also feeling festive because I had taken everything off the piano for the tuner, and now I'm looking at a blank canvas and thinking of what sort of holiday decorations I could dress it up with---maybe a clear bowl full of glass ball ornaments, or Santa's Quartet, or the music box of Santa in an antique car stuffed with toys (and one startled-looking reindeer). Possibilities!

Okay, I'm running on too much.

What a great way to celebrate, with a little personal season milestone. I hope you had fun playing the piano.

Great to see you!!!

Good evening,

Today was one of the most physically exhausting days I have had in a long day, who said turkeys couldn't fly? cheesy The turkey crush is upon us, and for me, i am sore from head to toe tonight.

It is nice and quiet here right now, JP is at a birthday party, and LC and my wife are at a talent show. I got home from work late so I couldn't head to either one.

If I recover from today well enough, I will be decorating, I am so far behind at this point, I need to focus and start.

Less than an hour until Northpole!!!! I have Dumb & Dumber on until then.

I hope you all are enjoying your Saturday
