Good Morning, Folks.

A week away now.
Just ONE week.
(Until Thanksgiving, that is.)

Our daily numbers:
Days to Thanksgiving: 7 (Yep. One week, alright!)
Days to Christmas Day: 35 (Five weeks from today!)


Cold all day yesterday. Don't think it got much above 40 and we set an official record morning low for the date at 19.
(I want to move back to Florida where I was born!)
We have again started out chilly at 32 degrees but I'm holding the weather service to that predicted warming trend.


Wow. Great 'Pines visit last night.

But wouldn't you know, Carl drew the first fired twinkie with a fortune in it stating "There are great things in your future".
(He told me he's now certain he will get a starring role in Binger's next opera. Narcissistic camel!)

But hey. The decor was stunning and very seasonal, wasn't it?

Good morning, friends~

Thank you again for the thoughts & prayers for Harlowe. I posted in the prayer requests thread, but the tests showed that she has some bad bacteria, so we have to pick up a few prescriptions for her today. Hopefully, this will get her well again I appreciate your kindness!
I am so relieved.

Good Morning, MMC!!!!!! It's going to be another cool day with a high around 30 degree's later this afternoon. At least the wind isn't going to be crazy today. I need to get back to that whole cleaning thing today but first things first, I have some work to get done here on the computer. At some point I also need to sit down and make out a grocery list. I hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!

What an eventful day today!

• It's Elizabeth's birthday! She finally got a cell phone, and she is tickled pink! We're also taking her to see the latest Hunger Games movie tonight with her friends.
• It's Jacob's Class Ring Ceremony Day! The seniors present the class rings to the juniors in a ceremony following a luncheon with the parents.
• It's our 20th wedding anniversary! I'm still the luckiest guy I know!

[Holiday]

Thank you all! I got home with him about 3 p.m. We won't really know until his follow-up tomorrow how extensive the surgery was, but it didn't take quite as long as we were told to expect, so I hope that means it wasn't terribly severe. Happily, they didn't inject a gas bubble, which complicates the recovery. He'll have to use three different eyedrops a few times a day for a couple months while it heals. I'm hoping he'll be cleared to work again soon---he was itching to start work for the temp agency when this hit. Fingers crossed and prayers for a good recovery. (And for my nerves, too, which are pretty shot after all that has gone on in the past few weeks.)

After I got Mr. home, I decided it would be a good time to go to the local garden center and wander through the Christmas displays, gifts, and decorations. (Mr. was okay enough to leave alone.) I swore I wasn't going to spend money on myself, but I fell in love with a ceramic Santa with a sack in which you can put candy canes or other treats. I'd like to fill it with candy canes and put it on my desk at work this season. (Not sure where, because I also need space for my little Christmas tree!)

You deserve that Santa after the weeks you've had!! He sounds really cute! Sending healing vibes to your hubby!!! xx

Merry Thursday!

Wow I am amazed at the snowfall in some areas of the US! Stay warm and safe everyone.

I have a few things to catch up with today and expecting about 4 deliveries from my recent shopping online. I also want to start opening the branches of the Christmas tree ready for tomorrow. As it is a new tree it is all compact so if I start today it should be less hassle tomorrow.

Things are a little challenging these days and like a couple of you, my spirit has slumped a little. Anyway I remind myself that this to shall pass

My imaginary friend from childhood, Pretend Heather as she is known, leaves gifts for me under the tree from time to time because she knows how jolly I would be receiving it and others likely wouldn't buy it for me. It's good to have a friend like that around this time of year - takes the guilt right out of it.

Pretend Heather will be giving me a Rudolph ornie this year - not sure which one, but it must include Sam, the snowman

When I travel, I pack a pillow case from home - clean from the linen closet, but I find my eyes get dry and sore and my skin gets blotchy a bit too so I think I have a mild reaction to the starch they use in the laundry. If I'm staying more than one night, I let them know I want my sheets and towels washed without starch.

Even with my own pillow case, my eyes are screaming and my skin is itchy.

All packed up and ready to head down for breakfast a workshop and head home to hear what other forgotten tunes are waiting to play on that old thumb drive of mine.

It's breakfast time - coffee, tea - I don't know - but I want something warm - it's freezing in this room.

Please remind me the next time I say I have to head out of town for work to pack a sweater - I'm always hot so I don't think I'll get cold - then voila - COLD.

Keep a merry thought in your head - chin up and all that jolly stuff!

Yes, it has been tough for the past several weeks. Things could have been much worse, though. Just the same, I'm hoping our luck changes soon. If he gets some good news at his follow-up appointment this afternoon, that will help. I hope the dressing and the eye shield can come off today. He was so uncomfortable last night.

You may be right---perhaps I should look for my Heather! Heather reminds me of Anne Shirley's "mirror friend."

The Santa ceramic is partly to make others merry, because I want to put candy canes in it for people at the office. That helps a bit with the guilt.
