Half of my yard is St. Augustine, under shade from our large pecan trees, and it's my pride & joy! The other half, however, is in the sun all day, and is a mixture of Centipede & Bahia. I. Hate. Bahia. And it grows rain or shine (but mostly rain LOL). This rain will make it just 6" today. I'm not kidding. Grrrr.
Don't you love flame bulbs? When I was a tot, we had a carriage-house-style lantern with a flame bulb in our basement rec room, and I was mesmerized by how realistic it looked. We finally got some good rain in Bellville last night. My rain gauge is broken, but I know it was at least 2". The only family member that didn't like it was Lulu. The thunder just scares her to death. She burrowed down in her mama's lap for the duration of the storm. Poor girl.
But it's nice not to have to fight the dying grass for a few days, anyway.

It was a long day here with an unexpected twist. We ended up becoming parents of three new furbabies today! We adopted three, eight week old kittens. We saw a sign saying free kittens and went in for a look. I thought if we were to get any it would have been one, but my wife didn't want to separate the siblings.
This is them, Stella on the left, Tuukka in the back, Luna on the right.
The have the most easygoing temperament for kittens we have ever seen, just a joy to watch. The other furkids are not as happy, and some are quite angry with us. My boy Alex won't even look at me, he just stares at the wall when I talk to him. He is usually the one who runs out to see me as soon as I get home, but angry right now.
I am heading to bed now, I will get caught up tomorrow.
