What a morning ... usually traffic on Friday morning is a relative breeze. But they're doing road construction on the main road leading to my workplace this week. There was a detour, and when I came out of that and headed toward the street where I work, the street was blocked off ... then another detour ... when I came out of that, the only way to the office building was through a restaurant parking lot, and a police car at the entrance was waving me onto the street. I pulled into the parking lot anyway, figuring if he stopped me I could explain that it was the only way I could find to my workplace. He didn't stop me, and I got here all right ... finally. Wondering why they have to work on EVERY street approaching my workplace on the same day!

Anyway, I'm glad it's Friday, and we're looking forward to going to a movie tonight---"Florence Foster Jenkins." Been wanting to see that since they announced it. It's based on the true story of an eccentric society woman in the 1920s, '30s, and '40s who fancied herself as a great singer, but in reality was epically awful. But she was so beloved, and such a generous benefactor of the arts, that nobody told her how really bad she was---until she sang at Carnegie Hall at the age of 76. She made some recordings---just search on YouTube. You won't believe what you hear. But she sincerely thought of herself as remarkably talented, and singing at Carnegie Hall was her big dream, so she went for it.

I was amused this week to discover that a brand of earplugs is sponsoring a sweepstakes in connection with the movie!

That looks like a good movie, what with Meryl Streep and Hugh Grant starring. Enjoy!

Good Morning, Folks.
We are off to South Carolina, but not before one final count release.

Days to the Season: 93
Days to Christmas Day: 135

And our next Milesteone?
Why, that's only TWO days away now. The day after tomorrow, in fact!
That marker, as our regular readers know, is the 3/4 point to our long-awaited and much-coveted Christmas Season.

Our weather?
Well, let's just say with all the heat and humidity, I'm REALLY looking forward to the Christmas Season this year!
Got that lawn mowed yesterday morning, but not only did the mower plug up with wet grass, I was soaked too. Even though it was cooler, the humidity did not loosen it's grip!
Oh, well. At least the job is done for another couple of weeks.
We are at 80 degrees here already this morning and it looks like it's going to be a hot trip south!

OK,Guys. I leave you in the highly capable hands of our very own Edge who will safely lead us to our next Milestone Marker on Sunday.

You have a Fabulous Friday, Friends.
And the greatest Weekend of your lives!

Have a safe trip

Good afternoon!

A big storm is about to hit, so I did the quick scan of the posts today. This morning a storm rolled in right before I was going to bed. The scariest sounding wind I've heard in a long time ~ I thought maybe I should go in the basement what with the roaring noise I was hearing, but it only lasted 15 minutes or so. I did check a local tv station and there wasn't a warning out, so all was good. Considering how humid it felt after the rain, I slept great. Still have a headache, but it isn't as bad as yesterday's.

Hope to check in on Sunday, but just in case I don't have the time, Happy early Milestone Day!

Have a Merry weekend!!

Our town does have a tree lighting, usually the first Monday in December. I went once by myself before DD was born. She's 11 now & we've never made it back. Most years it's raining and windy that night, so the high school band has trouble playing...

They've started doing a tree lighting in my hometown, just next town over from where I live now. They have an "Old Fashioned Downtown Christmas" the Saturday after Thanksgiving & they light a tree in front of the new train depot on Main Street. I was there for that last year. I take my mom that that event almost every year.

I love old photos of towns that were all decked out for Christmas, it seems to be dying now. The town next to us use to decorate every year, now nothing.

Merry Friday Friends!! Our storm lasted quite a while last night..we did not lose power but lost internet. It came back on late. We don't have too much planned this weekend. My youngest is going to a sleepover tonight and nothing for the rest of the weekend. We were maybe going to go to the beach but not sure on the weather. Hope you all have a blessed Friday!

I forgot to mention last night at the store I bought an all purpose cleaning spray that smells like Honeycrisp apples. It smells so good and reminds me of fall! :D

I love anything that smells like apple. Such a comforting fall scent.

That really stinks about the traffic and detours, sounds about right in this state though.

Enjoy the movie!

Just listened to the woman sing on YouTube, my wife told me to shut it off because she thought it was so bad. I told her who it was, and the story about it. She is pretty not good.

Well, yeah, she was epically bad! But she was 73 when she made those recordings---I don't expect to have a voice that strong if I live to be 73! The point is that although she was so awful, she lived her dream. I guess the movie builds on that. We're seeing the last show tonight. We watched a documentary about her last night. I'm really looking forward to the show!
