Christmas Countdown - 2016

Good Tuesday morning! A day off for me but some errands to run and laundry to do. Part of what I need for my Halloween costume has been delivered to a friend of my brother living in Vermont. He'll be coming up in a couple of weeks, just in time for me to put it all together. I'm also now looking up ideas for Halloween desserts for a bake sale at work in 3 weeks. So a relatively restful day ahead. Have a wonderful day everyone!

Good Morning, Snowflake! I thought I heard on the weather this morning, when we wake up Thursday morning it is supposed to be 29 degrees!? Nice, chilly weather!

Great news for Elizabeth! Hope your yard wasn't hit too hard by the winds from hurricane Matthew. Glad that power is being restored to your area. The only comparable thing to a hurricane I have ever gone through was the great ice storm of 1998. We were without power for 8 days, had to go to a shelter, tree branches falling everywhere from the weight of the ice, etc. Mother nature is a scary beast sometimes. Have a great day Bradmac.

We were lucky with our property. We had a LOT of smaller limbs down, several large limbs, and some damage to the house and my shop. It'll be a while before it's back to normal, but overall we fared well. Thanks!

Morning ... well thankfully none of the outside Halloween decorations got damaged in the wind just missing 2 small stakes for the inflatables but we have spares so no biggie. I was able to untangle everything and get them back into their spots although I may have to reconsider the current placement incase we get more wind. I don't want a repeat so may have to do some rearranging this weekend.

Think I am going to start working on the main floor hall closet and get the winter hats/gloves/scarves organized. Still have stuff in boxes from when we moved in last year. I am pretty sure I can get rid of some of them and pass the ones that are to small down to nieces/nephews in the family.

Both pictures are beautiful, but I really LOVE the second one. On Sunday afternoon it was sunny with a little wind, so I washed our flannel bed sheets and hung them outside to dry. When I brought them in that evening, they weren't quite dry, but they smelled like every good thing that is fall/winter. When I went outside to take them off the line, that smelled wonderful too! It smelled like coming inside after playing in the snow, like my dad's work overalls, like wood burning stove, fresh air, etc. I felt so ALIVE! I tried explaining it to Ryan, but he didn't quite get it. Ah, well. We all have our own nostalgic smells. Anyway, the picture made me think of Sunday. It was nice to FEEL fall.

Good Tuesday Morning MMC! I woke up to 41 degrees and I'm freezing. Funny thing is in the winter when we get into the low 40s it feels warm lol. Perception is one's reality. Beautiful sunshine out though and temps supposed to get into the low-mid 60s. Beautiful October weather. Rollins woke up at 3AM...I tried to keep my eyes closed so he'd go back to sleep. Trying to slow down this month. Anyone want to help?

Good Tuesday morning, Christmas friends!

I left work early yesterday to take Elizabeth to the orthodontist. She finally got the words she wanted; the braces come off in two weeks! Boy, was she ever happy!

When we got home, I started picking up limbs in my yard while the kids went to the football game. The usual Friday night game was postponed until last night because of the storm. Then Nancy and I watched a couple episodes of Longmire on Netflix.

More work in store for this evening, but at least Mama has power again, so I don't have to worry so much about her!

Amen! I know exactly what you mean! I can almost smell it now.
Love the autumn smells right now, especially early in the mornings, or after the sun sets in the evenings.

Hi there Martine. Is that what you call a restful day? I'd hate to see a really busy one...
I do volunteer at the Great Plains Zoo. But since I hold a full time job on the other end of town, it usually means I deliver posters/flyers and then make it to all their special events. The "Zoo Boo" will be on the 28th - 30th of October and I took an extra two days off in order to be there for all three days (including helping them set it all up). Have fun coming up with new ideas and have a fantastic day.
