I think I mentioned that Bernie had entered a contest a couple months ago, creating a "commercial" that explained why his business was improved by selling Hunt Bros. Pizzas. The prize was a new, cool-looking pizza assembly station, including a refrigerated cabinet to store & access the pizza toppings. Anyway, he got the call late last week that an executive from Hunt Bros. Pizza was coming to the store to announce the winner. They didn't say that Bernie had won, but why would they go to his store to announce the winner if it wasn't him? We're supposed to be there at 10:30 this morning for the announcement, and the newspaper is coming, too. Bernie is so excited! We worked all afternoon yesterday, cleaning and straightening up the store. Good luck to Bernie!

It's going to be sunny with a high of 54 degrees, nice trick or treating weather. Maggie has a well visit appointment with our new veterinarian this morning. No other plans afterward, I'll be in for the rest of the day. Looking forward to handing candy out!

That's why we love this time of year. Even when Halloween ends now we have Thanksgiving to look forward to. One after another this time of year.

(Well, it's really morning and I don't really have a laboratory but it sounded so Halloweenesque, I just couldn't resist.)

But there ARE a couple of things out there this morning to be frightened about. Things that go "bump" in the night (or day).
And the first scary thing is that there is a missing count number!
Days to the Season: 13 (UNDER TWO WEEKS LEFT!!)
Days to Christmas Day: 55 (UNDER 8 weeks remain!)

Wait. Didn't we have THREE counts yesterday? What happened to the first one??
Well, there is a good explanation. That first one is now completed and behind us. It is HALLOWEEN!
Therefore,

The second scary thing is our remaining count. Just look how close we are now to SINGLE DIGITS to the start of Christmas Season 2016!
(It just doesn't seem possible, Guys. It's.....it's......downright terrifying!)


Great weather for the trip to the coast. Moderate temps with no precipitation at all. We confirmed no hurricane damage and got the cottage winterized.
(And thus another rental season ends. The cycle will start back again in April for Rental Season 2017.)
We show 60 degrees here right now, with nice weather predicted for the balance of the week.


Now, before I forget, an Emerald City sized THANKS! to our own Wizard of Edge for safely seeing to it that we did not miss a count day yesterday.

Woohoo! I was really looking forward to this. Thanks for confirming that it is, indeed, Halloween Day, Crown! And to think all I could think about yesterday was that we were exactly TWO WEEKS away from the beginning of the Christmas Season... Thinking about that when the next day is Halloween doesn't seem right, does it? For us, I think it really does!!
 
Good morning, everyone!

Happy Halloween! I couldn't quite think of a costume last night, so I put on a bunch of brownish clothes and went as a bulletin board. I have a bunch of sticky notes and 10 different coloured sharpies that students can use to write notes and stick them on me. Not a great idea, but it's all right. I have so many ideas for costumes, I just never act upon them. If only I wasn't so lazy... I guess all my effort skips Halloween and goes right into Christmas!

It's a chilly morning here in Ottawa. Temperatures are about 2c/-2c. Brrr! Still, it actually feels comfortable to me, at least. Temperatures are going too be around freezing tonight, too. I hope the trick-or-treaters dress warm! As for the next rest of the week, we are suppose to reach double digits/upper 40s tomorrow or Wednesday, and then we're back down to comfortable/seasonal single digits.

Kim and I did some nice Christmas Blossoms-seeing on Saturday. I found a few Winter Wonderlands. I did not quite have the time to share everything on the weekend - we were relatively busy - but I will do my best to post them in the next couple days.

Well, I hope everyone is ready for a fun and safe Halloween! Kim and I will be giving out some candy to the neighbourhood kids tonight. I also have hockey at 11pm. I really hope I can take a nap sometime after going to the gym tonight, too. Busy, busy, busy!

Good morning my MMC friends!!! Hope your week is off to a good start!!!

Sure doesn't feel like I had a longer weekend. LOL!!! I'll be heading back to the lake after work to do some cleaning - just didn't feel like doing it on our Sunday! ;) Then later this week since it's supposed to be nearly 80º we'll go out there & blow out the water lines. So sad!!!

Just have to say that I was so, so SO happy to turn on the tv all weekend to see CHRISTMAS on my screen!!!
