I love out of season bargains. Last January I scored some great Halloween pieces that were in sale I would love to get my hands on a blow mold. We had a big santa when I was growing up.

I've got so many it drives my wife a little nuts! Between Halloween, Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter they take up a lot of room in the garage.

My Mom bought me two retro blow molds last year, and I love them. One is Santa, the other is a snowman. So charming!

We are trying..both boys are sick now. I have sinus thing going on, and mom has full blown in bed cold. Lol..its not a pretty sight here today.

The dentist was ... interesting. She was taking impressions to have a crown made for an implant I had done last year. It's the furthest tooth in the back on top, and due to my small mouth, she had a terrible time removing a small screw from it and putting in the one they needed to take the impression with. It didn't hurt, but I had my head in some awkward positions, and she told me a few times to breathe deeply through my nose so I wouldn't swallow the tiny screwdriver! I didn't swallow anything, but I was a bit nerved up when I left from being on alert! Bottom line, though, the impression came out fine, and I will be getting the crown put in in a few weeks. I've required a LOT of work on this tooth in the past year, and it'll be great to finally be finished with it.

I talked to a technician on the phone (I was surprised I got through, considering the strike!) and, unfortunately, if they come to make repairs they will be replacing our good old reliable copper wiring with fiber-optics. We've been avoiding this, as a friend of ours who's a longtime employee of the phone company told us to hang onto the copper as long as we can. But now, they will not make repairs on copper---they simply replace it. I'm scared that they'll drill holes or rip through the basement ceiling, but the rep told me they wouldn't need to do that. We'll talk it over tonight and if we decide we have to, we'll make the appointment. Considering the strike, we may be without our landline for a while ...

I love them. I have the advantage of living about 2 hours drive from Bronner's and have bought a couple from there. Most of mine come from thrift stores and garage sales though. I've gotten really good and taking dents out of them and restoring the cords. The Halloween ones are so fun, I keep thinking maybe one year I will stick Santa hats on them and put them out for Christmas.

I bet! You are fortunate to live so close.

It's wonderful that you restore them, too. Imagine the stories they could tell of Christmases past.

My Mom got one of mine at an estate sale, the other at an antique parlor.
They definitely have character that come with those flaws-many years of love!
