Christmas Countdown - 2016

[Holiday]

Good evening,

I ended calling out of work today, I woke up really feeling awful, and with a pounding headache. It was probably just the stress of setting up the whole trip just finally getting to me. I still have the headache, just nowhere near as bad as it was.
I just hung around the house today, finished the Santa cabinet. Spent a lot of time here on MMC.

Merry Thursday!

I'm not sure if it's seasonal allergies or a cold but hoping to kick this by weekend. My youngest has similar symptoms but he is being a little trooper and made it to school.

We are mid way through September!
15 Days till October!!! Just 15 days!!

Morning MMC friends/family!! I have the next 4 days off. Not much planned, just a little thing called a wedding. The Mrs. was up at 2am this morning and hasn't been able to go back to sleep. It's going to be a long day for her. I'm usually up by 4-4:30 when I have to work (like today). It was different to have her awake and talking to me while I'm getting ready for work.

Have a Merry Day, everyone!!

Hope the Mrs. is able to get some sleep...she has a big day coming up, you know!

Do you have tomorrow off work? Sounds like a great weekend!

Tomorrow night I am staying with Mom. Saturday I'm going with the lake girls to my favorite craft barn for her fall open house, then to a Tavern out that way which has awesome pizza for lunch, then the farmers market for pumpkins & mums (if it's not raining.) Saturday night we'll have a bonfire (again, if it's not raining) & we'll put my Ohio State Buckeyes vs. @Ryan 's Oklahoma on the big screen & tailgate, etc. at the lake! Sunday we have no plans that I know of!

It's going to be a beautiful day, sunny with a high of 73 degrees. Typical day for me, I have a couple of errands to run and then I'll be working on my daily chores. I'll also begin decorating at some point, so excited about that

got a terrible problem...my new living room is so small I do not know where to fit in my Christmas tree
I could get a smaller tree but then would have way to many decorations for it.
Told my son we could just put it in the middle of the room but he thinks that watching TV would be a problem then.
so I am going to have a wine and cheese and coffee and hot
chocolate and gingerbread open house for you all so you can come by and give me ideas please.

A smaller tree doesn't necessarily mean a tiny tree. Space is at a premium in our house, too. At Christmastime, I clear the top of a cedar chest that sits inside of our front window, and I put a full, dense, 4-1/2-foot artificial tree on top. So it stands about 6 or 6-1/2 feet tall, and there are plenty of branches for ornaments. Saves on space, and looks really nice! Maybe a similar idea would work for you?

If you still have ornaments "left over," maybe you could festoon evergreen garlands on walls and/or doors, and hang ornaments from them. Or even display some in a clear glass bowl or vase, or in centerpieces. I once saw an article on the Internet about someone with a huge ornament collection; she was hanging hers from the ceiling! I know the "craftmeisters" here will have better ideas.

Good Thursday morning! One work day to go and then I have 4 days off. Once again I'll be going into work early, so many things to get done. It's cold this morning, barely 10°C (50°F). We slept with all the windows open last night, it got quite cold, just how I like it when I sleep. Hope everyone will have a great day!

I worked on the lawn mower yesterday, and I think it's ready to go again. I hope to get the grass cut this afternoon. My next door neighbor has a kind-of competition going with me. Every time, and I mean EVERY time, I cut my grass, he cuts his. This weekend I edged all the curbs & gutters...last night he was out edging. LOL! I guess we'll see who can mow their lawns the quickest today!

Good morning MMC! Merry Friday Eve!! Woot!

It's a beautiful, chilly, sunny day! For the 1st time this season our house was cooler this morning than what our AC was set on! I noticed the volunteers who were working in the park this morning had flannel shirts/jackets on. There's a sign of the season! BUT we'll be back up to 85º tomorrow, & forecasted to stay in the 80's until Sept. 24th! Better soak up the heat while I can!

Happy Friday Eve!

Today we woke up to cool temps and a cloudy sky. There was no indication that it was supposed to rain. Lizzybeth grabbed up her umbrella just in case and I said that I would risk not taking mine because I have one at the office should I need one later on. My neighbor gave me a lift into the city this morning as her office building is right next to mine and we noticed that the ground was wet. Apparently the city experienced a heavy downpour only about 30 mins or so before I got in - so I missed it. YAY! The high is supposed to be only in the upper 70's.

London's second day at work was exciting as she prevented a couple who had been going to various stores with a huge suspicious backpack from stealing from her store. She tried calling me on her break to tell me all about it but I was in church and the phone was on vibrate. So as soon as she came through the door last night she couldn't wait to give me the details. I remember those days when working retail - UGH the absolute worst!

I've got to start looking for replacement earbuds as mine have stopped working. I'm not to upset after all I got them for 8.99 and they lasted two years so I feel like I got my monies worth. I borrowed a pair from London for today but I'll search Amazon today and place an order because I cannot ride the train everyday without my earbuds.

Date night sounds great. I now stay away from horror movies (The Ring "messed me up") but I remember seeing Blair Witch Project in theatres when it came out and being freaked out by a few scenes. Hope the sequel is as good. Enjoy your long weekend

The original "Blair Witch Project" was made not far from where I grew up. It came out after I had moved away, but I read news reports about people descending on the community and stealing street signs, and taking away twigs and such as souvenirs! The locals were bemused as well as annoyed, because there's no such local legend---the filmmakers invented it.

Not too much planned for the weekend...Addy, (my oldest) has a pasta party tomm night at a teammate's house. They do one the night before an away soccer game. Saturday morning she has a game at all. Otherwise it should be a relaxing weekend.

I agree...they intrigue me but I usually end up with nightmares, so I'll stick with Christmas movies!

Too funny...our next door neighbor is a mowing fool. We always give him a hard time that he's making us look bad...so then we have to mow too!!

To you as well. I know the morning very well, but it is a rare occasion that my better half is stirring much before 10AM (she normally works 12-9). It does make for a very quiet morning.

I've been there during my single/apartment days. Big trees are nice, but the heart you put into every light, ornament, garland, etc... will make it much grander in reality than it might seem right now. We use to put up around 12 trees or so and have a lot of ornaments left over. It can be difficult to decide which to place on and which to leave off. One way I use to add a few more was to hang them on lighted garland stretched on the ceiling, the railing, over the fireplace or anywhere it could be laid out.

(And we just about have the next one caught!)

Days to Christmas Day: 101

And in the cross hairs of our sights, we see the ONE HUNDRED DAY CHRISTMAS DAY WINDOW, upon which we are closing fast.
In fact, capture is imminent tomorrow!
(Don't you just love ** MILESTONE DAYS **?)


The heat just keeps hanging on as the cooling is almost imperceptibly gradual.
But at least it's in the right direction, with comfortable temps not far off now.
Currently, we are starting this morning at 71 degrees in our part of MMC.

And it's not too early to look forward to Weekend Eve tomorrow!

I remember getting my 1st email about ordering the "100 days to Christmas" ebook/journal & thinking that is a long way off yet....and here we are! (tomorrow)
