Pouring rain and strong winds today. Blah.
I am coughing and wheezing a lot today. Now and then my asthma is triggered especially this time of year. I hope I am not coming down with anything more. No time to be sick

** CHRISTMAS SEASON 2016 DAY 4 **


Good Morning, Folks.

Doesn't it seem sometimes as if you've lived the whole year just for the Christmas Season?
The music.
The movies.
The decorations.
Friends and Family.
The whole atmosphere?
Seems that way to me, often. Like it just doesn't get any better than this!

Let's look at the count numbers:
Days to Thanksgiving Day: 8 (ONE WEEK FROM TOMORROW!!)
Days to Christmas Day: 39 (Barely over 5 1/2 weeks left!)

Beautiful!


Warmer yesterday but still with just a bit of a nip in the air. Should be warm for November the remainder of the week with little chance of rain.
Currently, we are at 42 degrees here in central NC.


Have a Wonderful Wednesday, Everyone!
And hey! Stop in at the 'Pines this evening just to see Carl's seasonal decorations.
And while you are there, pick up a to-go box of his red and green frosted fired twinkies. (Get a take-home pitcher of iced tea while you're at it, too!)
And be sure to visit a week from today for the 'Pines' big Thanksgiving party!

Last year I put up my tree on Nov. 14th! Ahhhhhhh - this is really going to bother me having to wait this year. LOL! (though I'm happy to host Thanksgiving!)

I love that smoochable doggie; so sweet. Reminds me of one of my dog Ragmop's pups that was named Charlie Brown.
The trees and decorations are nice too, of course.

No lights in my neighborhood yet.

For a couple years I've been putting C7 strings on a lovely arbor vitae at the corner of the house, but the bulbs constantly burn out. As in a bulb or two every day! I'm thinking of getting GE brand light strings (instead of Home Depot house brand) and trying one more year. The strings are pricy, but I do love the "legacy" look of the bulbs, and want to find out if better strings will last longer. (Incandescent, that is. I haven't seen a C7 LED string that looks right to me.)

Two days ago only 2 of the across the creek neighbours had their lights up and on and last night I wondered when the third one would light the night with that calm and cheerful feeling I get from Christmas lights. This morning, I saw their lights on as well. 2 of the 3 received Christmas cards from this merry stranger last year as a thank you for brightening up my world. Without them all I'd have to see out the balcony window would be bare trees sometimes with snow and sometimes without. I will add the 3rd home to my card list this year.

Was there a short in the wire or were they just poorly made; wonder what caused the problems with the bulbs. Sometimes you have to spend a bit more for longer lasting quality. That's why I only wrap with SCOTCH tape and the lovely scent of pine needles instead of discount tape.

I normally have lists, but so far this year the only list I have is a list of the 50 people invited with marks if they are or aren't able to make it & what food they are bringing - if they have responded. I haven't totally wrapped my head around the idea that Thanksgiving is in NINE days! I thought tonight would be a good night to dig into some cleaning/organizing....and then my sister texted asking if I want a hair cut/color tonight. I'm sure not going to turn that down! I have all the plates, etc ready to go! I will be making a cornucopia, a meat/cheese tray, a 7 layer salad & potatoes of some kind - so that all has to wait until next week. I am going to try making this....

That's very adorable; I may have to get myself an invite and pop over. HaHa.
