Christmas Countdown - 2016

Good morning everyone ~
Happy Thursday!
Merry December!!!
It's going to be a beautiful day, sunny with a high of 56 degrees. Typical day for me, I have to run a couple of errands and then I'll be working on my daily chores. Most of my Christmas decorating is finished. Although I still have to set up my village. I don't even want to tackle that by myself so I'm going to wait until the weekend when my husband can help. I also want to finalize my menu plan & grocery list for Christmas Day. And I have to work on my gift list as well. I must start shopping for gifts soon!

I don't think I had ever heard "Almost Day" before. I will have to listen again - give it another chance!
I agree, Tony was a little weak. Sounds pretty good for 90 years old though!

Merry December! Just working for me today and catching up on laundry tonight. I did a good amount of online shopping so I am just waiting for everything to come in and then I need to wrap! I like to have my wrapping done a good week or two before Christmas so I am not stressing out too much. Hope you all have a great day!

I'm so much of a traditionalist ... I get annoyed at contemporary singers who endlessly noodle around notes instead of hitting them head on. (Cowards! ) So I wasn't expecting to enjoy Tori Kelly's "O Holy Night," but she stayed close to the melody line without too much ornamentation, and nailed the high note (as the crowd cheered). Good show! And I like Josh Groban's sound and simple delivery, too.

I see it the same way.
So many modern performers seem to be focusing on themselves and how loud they can scream and shout. The song itself becomes secondary to themselves.
Even (or maybe especially) the national anthem. I deplore the way it is done by so many "singers" these days.

I see it the same way.

Sad news folks: we had to have the “Santa Talk” last night with DD, who is 11. There were too many kids at school telling her Santa wasn’t real & her best friends told her “You need to talk to your mom about that.” DD cried, DH & I wanted to cry, but we made it through & she’s not mad at us. We explained how everything happened and told her how we found out that our parents were the ones who gave us the gifts on Christmas morning. We explained about St. Nicholas & how Santa Claus wasn’t a lie, but more like meeting characters at Disney World. We told her some people don’t let their kids believe in Santa and she understands that she shouldn’t spoil it for other kids.

This morning, she asked about her “Elf on the Shelf” and I had to confess that I’m the one who moves him. I told her she could do it now, but she said she still doesn’t want to touch it until she’s an adult.

I tried to explain that just because she knows, doesn’t mean that Christmas isn’t magical anymore. I told her Christmas Eve is still my favorite day of the year and I still get excited. I’m afraid it still won’t be the same. Our little girl is growing up!

Growing up is horrible, but it is much easier with good parents. Good job! She had many great years of believing in Santa and will pass the magic on to her own kids, I'm sure!
