Morning everyone and a happy 4th of July to everyone celebrating. It's a wet wet day here in Ireland, so basically summer, long day ahead so the coffee is already on in the office. Have a good one people.

Good Morning to all the MMC community and to those of us within the borders of the United States of America... Happy 4th of July!
Today we remember (hopefully) what our founding fathers went through to bring us an Independent Nation and how we have progressed (and sometimes retreated) in that spirit. The American Spirit was born in adversity, forged out of conflict and refined over centuries of trials & tribulations. As many of us observe this country today we can be both saddened by some of the directions we have chosen (or have been chosen for us) and feel the pride of so many who have and continue to stand for the liberties we were founded on. Our own country, as a huge melting pot, has been abundantly blessed by the different cultures, ideals and patriotism displayed by all the various nationalities who have come to call the USA their home. I am reminded on this day, of one of the many statements within the Declaration of Independence...
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.
Many have since come to these shores based on those simple and yet so important principles. We have come far and still have a long way to go. Hopefully this did not sound like a soapbox. That is not my intention. This is one of those days that can both fill me with joy and also bring a tear, knowing an uncertain future lay ahead. I'll end this today with a few words of President Lincoln. Himself speaking about the future welfare of this country and what to beware of. Delivered on Jan 27th 1838...
"Shall we expect some transatlantic military giant to step the ocean and crush us at a blow? Never! All the armies of Europe, Asia, and Africa combined, with all the treasure of the earth (our own excepted) in their military chest, with a Bonaparte for a commander, could not by force take a drink from the Ohio or make a track on the Blue Ridge in a trial of a thousand years. Good morning friends. The 4th is over and everyone had a great time. Although I have to admit, I was exhausted after the day's events. I'm really glad we could celebrate our nation's birthday with family and neighbors, but working all three days of my three-day beak was not quite what I envisioned. Still have to finish cleaning up this morning and then get ready for the next four days back at work.
I hope everyone else had a fun time and appreciate the well wishes from all our MMC members in different countries. I guess I never really though about this, but do you guys have a similar day during the year for your homelands and if so, when are they and what are they referred to?

Hello everyone and Happy Independence Day. My best girl of fifty years along with our daughters family attended the Arbutus Maryland parade. It was a great small town affair with police and fire, local politicians, bands, floats etc. The best was saved for last as the parade closed with Santa clad in a Hawaiian shirt and red overalls in a sleigh atop a flatbed. The reception given Santa can only be described as thunderous. The man brought a lot of joy to the happy revelers (myself included).
I love it!!! What a great surprise!!!
 
Happy Pines Day! Well yesterday was quite busy for the 4th. We had a good time though and the BBQ and fireworks were great as always. My brother is heading to Canada today but will return Sunday. Till then I'm going to try to get some rest ha. Got to bed late again last night but every year the 4th that's how it goes. I'm up and ready to go to work. Hope everyone has a great day today. Next holiday: The Bers Labor Day.
Hope you are able to catch up on some sleep while he's in Canada!! LOL
 
Good Morning All...I am tired today. We went to the beach and then had a cookout and got home later than I expected but that is ok. I had a cup of coffee and will make it through the day! My daughter has a softball game tonight and I am hoping to get a work out in today. Hope you all have a great day!

The four-day July Fourth weekend just flew ... I miss it! Next holiday up is Labor Day.
Hard to believe, isn't it. And it will be here b/f we know it!!!

Good morning all.

The local fireworks show was not as good as it has been in the past, but still decent and the weather was perfect. Henry had a lot of fun. Of course a group of teenagers sat near us and they were loud and obnoxious. I am used to teenagers, I mean I teach high school, but these folks were something else. It was mostly the girls of the group who were outright being rude and lacking in common courtesy. The guys tried to be nice and get the girls to calm down, but to no avail. I am pretty sure I lost some IQ points while sitting there. Oh well.... Maybe I am just getting old. ;)

Back to getting costumes ready. We leave tomorrow and still have quite a bit to get down.

Good Wednesday morning! A gorgeous, perfect hot Summer day today. People are out working on their yards. love the sweet smell of fresh cut grass. I'm heading out for a yearly doctor's visit and then I have some laundry to do. Hope everyone will enjoy a fantastic day!

Good, uh, Wednesday? morning, Christmas friends!

That four-day weekend has messed up my internal clock AND calendar, but it was nice. It was also especially hot. I got a lot of work done, though, and we grilled all weekend, so that was nice. I spent yesterday afternoon in the pool with Elizabeth, Nancy, our niece and her boys. We had a great time! Then we went to watch the local fireworks.

I hope all of you had a great long weekend, and I hope y'all have a great day! :D
