Lol...I say that every year. But then I figure I would miss out on buying Jan/Feb clearance Christmas deco. My CIJ party weekend..etc. But I realize I am different than alot of people here, I only like Thanksgiving as another holiday. I could do without the rest honestly. It will be here sometimes quicker than we want sometimes.
We don't want to skip over your favorite season summer Gunny...I look forward to you telling me how hot it is every single day for months straight...part of the tradition that started this year. And I'm still going to covert you to Halloween fan one way or another.

Hello, and what a great forum this is! I had no idea such a place existed with so many like minded Xmas junkies. lol I've really enjoyed reading the posts and relating to so much of what's been said. It's made the transition back to normalcy a little more bearable. Thanks for all the great posts and look forward to the site.

Hello and welcome! This is a wonderful place full of wonderful people. Lots of Christmas discussion all year, but also just a place to talk about whatever and get a friendly response.

I hear you. I have had at least 4 days off in a row for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years...and honestly as of tomorrow till Thanksgiving I will probably have that many days off in a row 1 or 2 times at most till Thanksgiving again (mostly by choice I spread my days around more) but that's what makes the holidays even more special to me is that extended time off.
I have been lucky that I have gotten vacation for the week after Christmas for the last 13 years in a row, I fear every year is the last one until it gets approved again.

Lol!! Well it was hot! Couldnt even get out on the boat from the draught and the lake smelling like a cess pool..lol.

Merry Christmas late and Happy New Year, friends! I hope you all had lovely holidays with your loved ones!! I worked most of it as did my husband, but we had the last week off and thoroughly took advantage of it. Back to the grind today! Not feeling too many PCBs but boy folks were a little gruff at work! Interesting time of year for sure-makes me quite thankful for the countdown and MMC friends to keep the cheer going! Looking forward to a great 2017 with you!

Happy new Year. I wish I could say our 2016 ended awesome and 2017 started awesome but this year I can't. Yesterday was the saddest day ever. Mikes 9 year old cousin and Carolinas buddy passed away. We arent sure what happened, but we're very shocked.
Even though we have some sad days ahead, I hope you all have a great day

So sorry NMC-thoughts for family and friends.

Lol...I forgot. I spent enough time in "hot places" for the summers. I kinda thought Ny would be cooler in the summer than N.C.

Pretty cool. I used to be much more fearful that I'd have to work Christmas Eve but as the years went on I pretty much told them I refuse to work that day ever...it's worked so far. I don't mind working a day or 2 after Christmas (not the 26th though I'm exhausted that day). Funny thing my supervisor was already saying she wants to close the department this year completely on the Fridays 22nd and 29th of December like we did this year.

I had a job in the mid-late 90's where I had to work a job in retail/entertainment where we required to work on every holiday, (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Day, NYE Eve and Day) no ifs, ands, or buts. Being in my early 20's I thought it wouldn't be an issue, I was wrong, it was miserable. Getting home after the celebration to a plate of leftovers that no one wanted during the party, it was truly eye opening. It really made me discover even more my love of Christmas at that time.

I can completely understand that!

Its miserable to have to work a holiday. We used to pull patrols on holidays and I would have to explain to the guys why we were getting shot at on Christmas or Thanksgiving etc. But it doesnt matter what your job is..most people dont want to be there so its just a soul sucking day for everybody working.

There was a point in my early 20s when I had worked a couple of different jobs where I was just too hopped on the chance to start legitimately working and didn't give much thought to the importance of the holidays. I was at that stage in my life where I thought I was important and unreplaceable, and that these jobs would have a lasting impact on my life, not just for resume purposes but also in the people I worked with who would also have a lasting impact on me, and I on them. Cuz you know, they mattered, and I mattered (sarcasm). So I worked right through the holidays those years and acted as if Christmas Day was nothing more than a nuisance to the great things I was doing in the workplace. Cuz remember, I was important and had to start making my footprint on the world (more sarcasm).

Boy how wrong I was when I look back at that time. All those things just absolutely pale in comparison to what I think is important and significant now. If I could go back to those years with the mentality I have now things would have been a lot different.

Welcome to the Countdown and MMC!
We are all Christmas lovers here, and I myself joined in the midst of feeling down and out after a holiday season nearly 7 years ago. This place is great and helpful when it comes to everyday stuff too, not just Christmas.
Hope to see you around the boards.
Thanks! Yes, I was doing the same thing. Didn't know there was a term (PCB) so that was enlightening to find out. I guess if anything, I've enjoyed really enjoyed reading the posts because it's not something I'd normally discuss w/ anyone. So having a lot of fun going through reading similar thoughts!

Thanks for the welcome, and I've noticed that going through older posts. What a cool place considering all the vitriol normally found on the internet. A great place to talk about love for Christmas.

Happy new year to all my MMC friends! Where have these 11 days gone? I can't believe tomorrow is time to go back to work ... such a nice and festive time! Just goes so fast!

Oh my goodness! How tragic! Thinking of you and keeping you all in my prayers!
