Christmas Countdown - 2017

Good morning MMC!! Happy, Happy Friday!!! So looking forward to busting out of this work week this afternoon!!

We had such a fun time watching Holiday Inn last night. I almost forgot how great of a movie it is! I'm glad I was reminded! We almost didn't watch it b/c we were talking too much at the island in our kitchen...then we realized how late it was getting & decided to pop the movie in. Such a classic. Gracie was quite the host. Reminding my friend constantly how happy she was to have her over. LOL! T got lots of Gracie kisses! (whether she wanted them or not! ) Good thing she's a dog lover!

I didn't get an update on mom yet this am, but as of bed time last night she didn't have any flu issues since 4pm yesterday afternoon. Hopefully she had a good night & she's feeling great today!! xx I'm a little disappointed in the NH & their non-existence in cleaning the bathroom which she shares with the lady next door....who also had the flu on Wednesday. HMMMM! We still haven't seen anyone come in to clean their restroom - wonder how mom got the flu? (What a joke! GROSS!) And they wonder why the flu is running rampant through there??? Grrrrr!

Anyway, off my high horse! Everyone, have a wonderful FRIDAY!!!

Just took a walk to pick up my car around the corner and I am sweating! In January! It's gotta be 60 out there...In New Jersey...In January...Glad we are almost into the 200's and I've decided that the only internet sites I will frequent for the time being are non-political ones...I can't stand the bickering out there in the world...Around here, we're all good and all a community...

TGIF, Christmas friends!

It feels like spring! It's supposed to be in the low to mid 70's for the next 10 days. Makes me feel like working on the pool and cutting the grass LOL!

Elizabeth has accidentally started a business baking caramel cakes for people in the county. I took her to deliver one last night. She's going to have to start charging more, though. She works for hours, baking the cake from scratch and making the icing from scratch, and she only charges $30! Of course, I'm the one buying the ingredients LOL.

Yippee! Have a great time! Aren't movie nights with snacks and drinks the best?

We were going to watch "Holiday Inn" for New Year's, but watched something else instead ... I think we watched Christmas/NewYear's episodes of "Mrs. Brown's Boys"! I like the movie, but I just want to shake Fred Astaire's character for being such a jerk sometimes.

Yes, it was so nice & fun!! Relaxing! I told her we need to do that more often!!
I agree Fred Astaire's character has a little to be desired...but what a great movie!! I could watch it again tonight!

Sounds of the Season Holiday STILL going! I'm sorry to be going on and on about this, but this is insane for it to be running this long. When I saw the schedule this year for it to end on Jan 8 that's about the latest it would have gone in recent memory. But wow, we are literally almost half way into January and it is still going. Every time I've woken up in the morning and come from work at night and seen it still on this week has really made my day. I don't mean to make it such a big deal, but this is something I pay attention to every year since it is always the last thing to go from the holiday season. Now I'm just getting greedy and wanting it to last even longer.

I saw online yesterday that MC was going to be Christmas music until the 12th...sure enough - it's done today! Boooooo!!!
BUT it's still Christmas at my house!!

Oooohhh, I wish she lived around here. My mother and grandmother used to make yellow cake with caramel frosting, and I really miss that. One of the sweetest things (no pun intended) that anyone ever did for me was to make a caramel cake for my birthday after my grandmother passed away, because she knew I wouldn't get one otherwise. I wish Elizabeth much success with her baking venture!

Trivia about that movie: When they show the November calendar, do you know why the turkey runs back and forth between two Thursdays, looking for Thanksgiving, and then gives up in perplexity? It was a political thing during the FDR administration---Google "Franksgiving"! It's interesting!

I'm very sorry to read this Holiday but glad to know that the doctor said she was ok after the fall. Do you know how it happened? I was on Coumadin for a year after a pulmonary embolism and I totally understand how scary any type of injury can be. I'm keeping your mother in my thoughts and hoping for her to be home next week. Sending hugs to you and Gracie.

She fell in the bathroom. She hit her button when she felt sick & nobody came & nobody came...so she went herself without her walker!! She was weak from having the flu. She hit her head, by her ear, on the edge of the door.
I sure hope this doesn't delay her coming home next week. We really need to get her out of there! We found out yesterday she has only had ONE shower since she went in there Dec. 27th!!!!! How does THAT happen??? So gross!!! She was supposed to be on a schedule for a shower every Mon, Wed, & Friday. Wouldn't that just be part of her occupational therapy??? (I would sure think so!) Anyway - I guess we never asked, just assumed she was getting showers. NOPE! She's had sponge baths, but REALLY? That makes me so mad! Poor Mom! Time to come home! Emma will take MUCH better care of her than that!!!

Funny you should say that. I went grocery shopping after work and was hoping to see Cadbury cream eggs. Nothing for now though, barely even any Valentine's Day treats, which is strange.

I saw Cadbury eggs at the grocery at the check out the other day!! YUM!

Morning! A few people took their lights down as I saw they weren't lit this morning. But there's still a bunch that have them on. TGIF by the way (how could I forget that). Friday the 13th today...hope everyone doesn't have any bad luck. Looks like our temperatures start out mild this morning and drop during the day. The weekend looks normal temps and we will be missing the snow/ice that much of the middle part of the country will get. Looking forward to this weekend for sure.

Good Friday morning! I have a day off but lots to do. We'll take down our Christmas decorations today, on top of running errands, laundry and the usual chores. I just realized that I haven't had two days off in a row since Christmas and it's tiring me out. Have to wait till January 20th for that. have a great day everyone!

I guess I need to start facing the fact that mine need to come down too. Not looking forward to that!

Happy Friday, everyone! Extra-happy for anyone who has Monday off as a holiday.

Hoping I'll be released from the office a little early today ... we're supposed to close at 3 p.m., but the department I'm in is usually the last to go, so "early" sometimes comes down to "15 minutes." Monday the office is closed, and I hope they won't need me that day!

Things are a bit crazy here. A co-worker in my department has given notice, the temp who is covering for her was called away because of a sudden death in his family, and our supervisor is out of the office for a couple days. Hoping the workflow doesn't kick up anything that's difficult to deal with until things get sorted out!
