Morning MMC! I have a bit of a cold but I'm trying to get over it the next several days before Thanksgiving. Nothing terrible just one of those slightly itchy throat/stuffy nose ones. Not really coughing or anything. I can't believe we're at the weekend before Thanksgiving. It's amazing. I have some errands to do and then a friend of the family is coming over for my brother's bday dinner. We're getting pizza and cake. Have a great Saturday, the last one before everything goes crazy!

Good morning MMC!!! It sure is Monday....BUT it's Monday of a Holiday/short work week! YAY!!

What a weekend! I got home from work Friday & only about 1/2 of the lights on my tree were working! My 1st thought was LUCY!!! But it wasn't her. The 1st strand of lights that some others were connected too went bad (I'm assuming a fuse) I unplugged that strand, added a new strand & wah lah - all was good again!

Friday night/Saturday it rained SO HARD! We had water everywhere!! I went shopping with the lake neighbor ladies on Saturday - I had to travel. It rained the WHOLE way there! As soon as I entered the town we shopped in, it quit! Didn't rain the whole time, which was great b/c it was a lot of in & out - small shops. Then we went to the tavern in that town (great food) - ate & watched the 1st quarter of the Buckeye game. It POURED the whole way home!! There were a couple spots closer to home where the road was covered in water. I wasn't sure if I should go through the 1 spot but I did & thankfully I made it. I was happy to be home!!
Yesterday Mom woke up from her afternoon nap talking gibberish. My sis was with her. She called my bro (my nephew just happened to be there too - he's a deputy so has some medical training) & the nurse to come. The nurse thinks she was having TIA's. We had Thanksgiving with my hubby's family yesterday so by the time I got there, she was much better. Although there were clothes in her washing machine & they got off balance, so the machine was making noise. Mom was pointing at her utility room door saying we needed to change the cookie's! Hmmmm! (when we bake cookies we always put 2 cookie sheets in at a time - one on the top rack, 1 on the bottom & switch them after 4 minutes - I assume that's what she was referring too, but ???) My SIL (RN) stayed with her last night. My bro said she was back to normal this morning. Mama, mama!

I saw on the internet yesterday the breeder we got Lucy from now has Soft Coated Cockers!! One of my best friends is a huge cocker spaniel fan & as you know, I'm a SCWT fan!! I emailed the breeder. I think my friend & I should get sisters. She has 2 girls left!!

Thanks! We're the opposite with two adult cats and three kittens. We only have one trouble maker in the bunch but one is more than enough to handle. What is a scat mat?? I'm going to look into that!

A scat mat (check on Amazon, some reviewers posted videos of them) is a clear plastic battery operated mat that when turned on offers a tiny "shock" to anyone who touches it. Mine is a semi-circle so it fits nicely around the base of the tree. Some people think it is mean to use on pets, but that is what they are designed for. I have been using mine for 15+ years. Almost every cat I have ever had only stepped on it once, and then learned they did not like the sensation and would steer clear of it. (I had one big orange Tabby named Lamont who was adorable but not the brightest bulb in the box and it took him three times to decide he needed to stay away from it!) As soon as the adult cats see it they go the other way. Both kittens have "experienced" it already this year and now they leave that tree alone! You can also put it on counters if you are trying to keep them from jumping up! During non-holiday times we keep it in front of our bedroom door because we have one cat who beats on the door or heaves his body at the door because he wants in at night! The scat mat stops that from happening!

This weekend I will sneak into the office over the weekend and change my decorations from Thanksgiving to Christmas. I enjoy having it all in place when I come in the Monday after Thanksgiving!

Good morning MMC!

It’s the weekend yeah yah !!!
I have a mini family get together today. By mini I mean just a few of us are getting together for lunch because my sister and her husband have shown up From Vermont unexpectedly so not everybody could make it. But it will be nice to get to see them for a little while.

Right now I have focaccia Rising and went to dissipate it will be coming at one for lunch. Have to run down to the farmers market quick and get some cheese to go with it.

It is nice to be working Monday to Friday job again!

It a White Christmas here in Canada and its a good day to hang up the lights. I also have a craving for Christmas cookies.

Is anyone making cookies that they have not baked before? If so, what kind, because I am getting hungry.

I'll probably stick to the cookies I know - cut out sugar, orange drop & peanut butter brownie cookies!

Good Saturday midday! I am currently on my lunch break at work, bracing for a super busy afternoon. On top of that they announce rain, so that brings in even more customers. As long as it doesn't turn into freezing rain... It's my brother's birthday and when I gave him a call, he was on a sidewalk awaiting the Santa Claus parade in Montréal, lucky him! I'm just looking forward to tomorrow when it'll be my turn to enjoy Christmas, as we'll be putting up our tree. Hope everyone has a fantastic day!

Good morning!

Exciting things happened this weekend! We picked up our live tree yesterday. I woke up at 4 to let the dog out with every intention of going back to bed but ended up sitting by the tree enjoying the lights in the quiet house. It's beginning to feel like Christmas! We also bought a few more gifts and the Magic Light Wand I ordered came just in time to light up the tree! (If you haven't seen it, it's a wand that turns the lights on and off! The kids love it. Look it up!! I might even love it more than the kids! Haha!)

Update on the kitten and the live tree..
We didn't even have it in the living room yet and she was at the top! Lol!! At least she enjoys Christmas as much as I do. (The tree part anyway!)

Morning MMC! The days are dwindling to the big Thanksgiving Day. I felt a little better Saturday but then last evening my head started burning up. I guess that this sickness is one of those where one day its your throat, then your nose, then your head. Well I'm hoping it continues to travel through my body these next 3-4 days and get the heck out by the time I wake up on Thanksgiving. Feel better so far today...and going to make sure I take a nap and relax this afternoon. Can anyone believe we're heading into Thanksgiving Week? I can't.

Hope today is better for you - my boss sounds terrible today. Great....

Well the tree is done. I swear the lights are white and red, but they show as green and red on my phone. We haven't done any orher decorating for now, we need to get more stickers for those 3M command hooks.

Good morning MMC!!

I've already taken my tree down. (You read that right.. down not up!) It was too much with the kitten. Between the fake snow all over the house that I'll never get out of the carpet and her bending branches down I figured it'd be better to just put it away this year until she's older next year. (It wasn't cheap and I'd like it to last more than 2 Christmases!)

We're going to get our real tree Friday!! I have this strange idea that the kitten will leave the real tree alone. Hahaha! Just thinking positive! Hope you all have a great day!

Oh no!!!!! That's what I am dreading for this year also. I adopted a kitten in April of this year and this past Saturday, I went and adopted a 3 month old kitten.

Morning MMC! Happy Thanksgiving Week! Here we go into the big week that changes everything. I was pretty much sick all weekend. Felt it coming on late last week and this weekend it hit me full on. Nose, throat, bit of a fever, etc. I think that it's gone through all the different parts of my body now so I am hopeful to be on the mend these next 3 days before Thanksgiving. Day 1 hopefully will go well and I do have a good amount of work to do. I know what everyone will be talking about these next 3 days at work is Thanksgiving. Have a great day!

Merry Monday!
It’s going to be sunny, windy & cool today, highs near 46 degrees. I have to make a Target run this morning. Back home afterward to clean the house for the holiday. Tomorrow will be my final food shop before Thanksgiving. I’ll pick up my turkey from the butcher Wednesday morning and then I’ll begin to cook, bake and prep whatever I can ahead of time. Can’t believe Thanksgiving week is finally here!

We woke up with a light dusting of snow. I was surprised to see it.
I got my turkey yesterday and I just need to get a few more things for appetizers. I will finish it up tomorrow.

Good morning, everyone!

I hope your first weekend of the Christmas Season was filled with as much festive joy as mine. It was certainly a busy one, too! I wanted to get on here a few times, but I don't think I really had time to sit down.

The Christmas Party with Kim's group of friends - of course, they're mine, too - - - went well. We were supposed to have about 12 people. A winter storm of freezing rain, ice, and snow, really put a damper on that. Three people had to cancel due to awful driving conditions. Even so, it was a lot of fun. I really need to ease up on the difficulty for the Christmas Music trivia portion for them, though. There were a lot of confused faces. Most knew 3 of the 5 traditional songs, but very few knew the artists. For modern, I believe it was only slightly better.

Yesterday was a day of cleaning, watching football (disgustedly), and playing ultimate in the evening. The busy-ness is not stopping this week. Three different activities tonight. Two tomorrow, probably one on Wednesday, and two again on Thursday. On Friday, I will be flying to Pittsburgh with three friends for the Packers/Steelers game on Sunday night. Spending (American) Thanksgiving weekend by the Three Rivers should be pretty exciting. My hopes for the game are pretty low.

Glad to hear you enjoyed your Buckyeye game and shopping even though it rained. Prayers for your mum. Could it be her meds that make her confused sometimes? Bless her.

Glad you got the lights to work. We put our tree up. I will take a photo when I can and post it. I really do not like my LED lights. I was meant to change them this year but never got around to it. I definatley need to swap to the traditional fairy lights next Christmas.

We got a text from my brother that mom was better this morning & there were no cookies in her washing machine! Poor lady!
I'm very excited for Thanksgiving week! It doesn't look real promising that Mom will be able to join us, but you never know! We'll make sure she's taken care of & gets a good meal!

I'm not sure what we will do about the puppies. I would love to get the 2 sisters with my friend. I'm working on her.

So sorry to hear that about your mom Holiday. My mom had a TIA this year that had her in the hospital for 2 days, and I believe she had an even smaller one the year before. She was speaking gibberish and didn't know any of our names for about 15 hours. So scary. She is ok now, with no lasting damage, Thank God, but that is always in the back of my mind now. It's a scary experience! Sending prayers for your mom!

Yes, very similar. Mom didn't know 2 of my sisters names. By the time we got there last night, we walked in & she says..."HI JIMBO!" (she always calls my hubby Jimbo! LOL) He's kind of her favorite! I knew she would remember his name! My Dad had a massive stroke in 1997 - and you are right - it's very scary! Thank you for the prayers.
