I grew up in College Park, moved to Laurel, and now live in Elkridge (about 8 miles SW of Baltimore).
The Mrs and I take the occasional drive up to Westminster to dine at Baughers. Love an old fashioned family owned restaurant.

Ahhh gotcha! I am familiar with some of those areas.

Baughers, is a cute little Ma& Pa place to eat and shop. I've been going there for many years. My wife and I usually stop in there for a bite to eat, when we come back to Maryland to visit on weekends. And their pie's and Ice Cream, whoa.... I just love them.

Good morning MMC!

Haven't been here for a couple days – just wanted to pop in and let you all know that we had to say goodbye to Mom yesterday! ☹️ She passed away around 4 PM. She's in a better place!

This morning we had ice, now it has turned to rain, expecting snow for most of the day. I hope it turns to snow soon as I am cleaning carpets and getting ready to put up my sunroom Christmas tree. Going to need some extra lights in the house on these dark nights to make me smile!

We have to meet with the funeral director this afternoon and then the priest after. We are figuring we will have her viewing Sunday afternoon and her funeral mass Monday morning. I'm glad she is no longer struggling but it stinks.

Everyone, have a Good Friday Eve!!

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. I am saying prayers for her and for you and your family.

Holiday I am very sorry for your family’s loss. Wishing all of you peace and strength throughout this loss (((hugs))).

Morning MMC! It's COLD out. In the 20s and we have some snow coming this afternoon. Should be only a light accumulation here but then some sleet & rain. Not a nice day. 1 week till Turkey Time. Best wishes for your dad HMG. Have a great day!

My car made a sound and showed me a slippery sign I had not heard since last May. Unless we get a number of warm days and rain; this white stuff is here to stay. I may partake in some American Thanksgiving num-nums - just because I can't wait until Christmas to enjoy some turkey, stuffing, corn and potatoes with a smidge of gravy.

Good Morning, Folks.

We proceed on into Christmas Season 2018.
Have you been listening to Christmas music?
Watching holiday movies?
Planning seasonal events?
Decorating?
Well, it's that time and there's no time to waste!

But the count moves on relentlessly:
Days to Thanksgiving: 7 (ONE WEEK FROM TODAY!!)
Days to Christmas Day: 40 (Nearly down into the 30's!)

And our final Milestone of 2018?
Well, it's only 3 days away now.
The 90 percent, Home Stretch marker to Christmas Day!

Chilly and wet is the order of the day, and has been so for some time now.
Looking forward to nicer conditions for tomorrow and the weekend.
Right now, we are contending with a temperature reading of 41 degrees here in the capital city of North Carolina, with a cold rain falling.

Have a Thrilling Thursday, Everyone.
Tomorrow is the first Weekend Eve of the Christmas Season!

Christmas music; why yes, in my car the last few days I keep moving away from the usual 60's and 70's with a touch of Margaritaville - Jimmy Buffet (etc.) on the side to one of two special stations that are offering Christmas music.

Odd thing this year for me is that I seem to be enjoying the songs I consider traditional performed by different artists; I'm usually partial to a certain few and then wish someone would come up with new songs about Christmas.

I haven't watched full Christmas movies yet, but have seen quite a few TV series that feature Thanksgiving or Christmas in the main story or at least decorations visible on the set.

As for seasonal events: most involve a few Christmas Craft Shows, getting my cards for the exchange together; securing & wrapping ornament exchanges packages (with no help from the cat; I'm sure), and considering the Old Fashioned Downtown Christmas Walk and perhaps grabbing some photos of the local Santa Claus Parade.

Decorating: time to bring out my awesome fabric reindeer with a lovely lumberjack looking hat on his head and replace the batteries in some of my merry music boxes (the cat likes one of them better than the others. Going at it slow and easy to sneak it in so my husband and my cat don't notice.

There was an event yesterday and I took two Grade 9 Students to work and we had a great time; the Christmas connection there was that while I was talking about music that motivates me during my work outs; I confessed to these young ladies that I had a few Christmas songs on there and wondered if any of the members realized my lips were moving along to SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWN!!! I laughed more than they did - even snorted - we hit it off right from the start.

I noticed a few homes in my old childhood stomping grounds that were already decorated outside so I know where to go for some pics when the weather and timing is right.

You may have missed SHOPPING in your query; hoping to do a bit more this weekend. I have to pick up items for a young boy I've never met to stuff a Shoebox to send to a village overseas (all kinds of rules about what can go in and what not to send) for Operation Christmas Child. The deadline for the drop off is Sunday and I only have one item so far.

Stay jolly; you know I am!

Thanks .. by the time I left work it had changed over to rain and main roads were mostly clear. It took me about 15 minutes longer to get home.
Your welcome! Coming home from dropping Carolina off at school took me about an hour when it normally takes 15 mins. Pick up wasn't too bad though

OUCH! I was relieved for my mom when she departed, but it still hurts; we're here for you.

Thank you so much everyone, I really appreciate the thoughts and prayers. My father needed another blood transfusion because his hemoglobin levels were low again. The doctors are running tests, hopefully we’ll get some answers. I will keep you posted.
xx

Continued prayers!

We’re getting our first snowfall here. Looks like about 2 or 3 inches out there, and it’s supposed to keep falling until around 1 a.m. Then we get a little ice and it changes over to rain by morning, so it’ll be just a wet slushy mess for the commute. We won’t even get to see the snowfall in the daylight, darnit.

At least one weatherman has noted that winters here when we get more than an inch of snow in November usually turn out to be snowy. We’ll see! I like snow, but I can’t stand driving in it.

Update on the 2018 tree for Boston from Nova Scotia:

On December 6, 1917, two ships collided in the Halifax Harbour, causing a devastating explosion which killed nearly 2,000 people and left hundreds more severely injured and homeless.

Nova Scotia will never forget the support Boston provided after the explosion. To say thank you, the province will once again give the people of Boston the gift of a beautiful Christmas tree. For decades, this tradition has honoured the kindness Bostonians offered Nova Scotians in our time of need. This year marks the 101st anniversary of the explosion.
