Quick in and quick out.

Off to spend the day with my husband in the hospital. My dad will pop up for a visit and #1 son and his wife are coming up later today.

He was in a pretty tough situation on Wednesday morning so I had to call 911 and he wound up spending the night in the ER because there were no beds available to admit him properly; finally got his room at 2:30 yesterday.

They suspect colitis and today we'll find out if they're removing the notion of a colonoscopy. At least we know why he's been feeling unwell and losing so much weight and not wanting to eat.

Sorry, I missed the milestone day. I was thinking of y'all because I passed by a row of houses with blue lights running up their banisters and the house between them had multi-coloured lights draped around their big pines on the front lawn.

He is not a good patient; yesterday he pulled his IV out and tried to escape while I was at workshop so today I'm sticking around so he can't bolt.
I told him eating and getting well was his ticket out.

When I got home around 8:00 last night, O'Malley was looking for Gary. He checked our bedroom and then tapped the door to the storage room; I said, "He's not in there." He was so sweet looking for his "big daddy cat". I've been camping out on the living room floor on a single mattress until I can replace the queen size one in our bedroom this weekend. O'Malley is sleeping on it when I'm not here, but hasn't joined me yet his bed is close by though. I'll never get the smell of blood out of that mattress so I must replace it which is fine because we should have gotten a new one two years ago anyway.

Also, today would have been my mom's 78th birthday and I miss our visits dearly, but glad that she isn't suffering anymore.

Listening to some merry jazz while I'm getting ready to go to the hospital.

Keep a merry thought in your head and an extra one for my husband.

Oh goodness! Prayers for you & your husband!!

I’m doing good, thank you! How are you? I hope the new job is going well. You have been missed dearly here <3

We've been missing you, too!

Hi Holiday!! Hope FL was fun...I miss you...my friend! Hope all is well!

Thanks guys & gals! ❤️ I sure wish it would be easy to get on to this website at work like it was my old job but I just don’t see it happening. And our wireless connection is so terrible at work to try to logon from my phone it takes forever.

New job is going just OK. There are parts of it that I really like & parts of it I really dislike. The temperature in the office was very cold when I got back from Florida Tuesday and Wednesday. I knew the two girls had to have a blowup or something and sure enough they did. By Thursday the temperature was more medium… LOL It just makes work so much more enjoyable when you can get along with your coworkers!

Florida was absolutely awesome! We had such a great time and so many laughs! Weather was perfect every day! I’m ready to go back! ☀️

I hope you are all having a good Saturday! I’ve got homemade bread in the oven right now – it’s starting to smell really good in here! getting together with our lake neighbors this afternoon. Looking forward to it!

Good Friday morning, Christmas friends!

It has been a difficult week. Nancy's mom passed away Monday afternoon in Hospice care. Bless her heart, she was in such pain, and finally had to be sedated constantly. Nancy and her dad are having a hard time, too, so I'd appreciate prayers and positive thoughts for them.

On a bright note, the surgeon who will be operating on my mom said her tumor is very small and should be easily removed and treated! Thank you, Lord! We'll do that in a couple weeks.

I hope y'all have a great day! :)

Oh gosh Brad! I am so sorry to hear that! I feel like I miss out on so much when I’m not able to come here every day. I will be keeping you and your families in my prayers!
Best wishes to your mom! Her prognosis sounds good! xx

Just checking in ... back from visiting my husband running errands to the bank and picked up the laundry.

O'Malley the cat was so cute with the laundry. I was speaking with my husband on the phone, he has no concept of time at the moment so he called before I even hit the round about and again ten minutes later. While I was speaking to him, the cat was rubbing up against the laundry bag because it was still warm and smelled so good.

Arrived at the hospital just as number 1 son and his wife were starting to head toward their vehicle and I was glad they came.

I know my husband said he doesn't like seeing people when he's unwell, but it's family and I told him sometimes it's for others that we permit things. If any of the boys or grandkids were that sick; we'd be there to visit them and offer encouragement and hope.

Looks like I'll have to take Monday morning and Tuesday morning off from work; hoping to work half days as I don't want to fall too far behind in those obligations.

I have questions for the doctor/nurse about home care, funding for medical supplies or gadgets, nutrition plan, etc. that I can't leave up to my husband to handle on his own.

Funny thing is they have him in isolation and the only space available was the prisoner's room. There's a huge camera for teleconferences and observations. He's all concerned because two guys were talking about needing the room for a convict. I said, "honey, any room can become what they need, they just post the guards outside the room.
The company that ran their TV and phone units "went under" so there is nothing to do, but stare at the walls unless someone visits.

I bought him a CD / radio player - the older models without too much flair, but something to help drown out some of the noises. So far, the radio and the two CDs I've played have only brought me comfort. HaHa.

His colour was better today and he ate most of his breakfast and his nurse will take out the IV temporarily so he can have a shower to feel half-human.

I have a splitting headache - too much night driving so I'm having a nap and will head back up there for 3:00.

Enjoy the rest of your day, I might pop back in later tonight.

Hello all.

Not much going on today. Just lounging around a bit.

We are going to get a little snow tomorrow. Just an inch or two, which is disappointing because they were calling for 5 inches at one point. But, the system is moving south so we get less now. Though, it is clear that winter is not done with Ohio yet. We will be back in the single digits for lows Tuesday and Wednesday morning and then rain and snow off and on over the next week.

I need to do some grading this weekend, but I keep finding other things to do instead. :p

Everyone have a wonderful evening!

Hello, Just wanted to give a quick shout out to the Bers tonight. I'm really looking forward to saying goodbye to winter soon(I hope). Tonight at midnight however, we are officially halfway to September 1 and I always look at crossing halfway markers as a pretty cool event. Looking forward to a nice Spring and Summer first, but love hitting that second half!

Morning MMC! We should have about 4-8 inches of snow today into tonight depending on who you listen to. This is the 4th day in a row we've had some snow. The good news is the snow should end early tomorrow morning in time for the roads to be decent. But who wants to think about Monday on Sunday? 1 week from today we turn the clocks. That is always a BIG milestone for me personally. I love when I know we will have longer lighter evenings until we reach the Bers again. Have a great Sunday!

Good morning, y'all! Hope this finds you well. Was another busy week...full of basketball. However, basketball ended for us Thursday night. We have made the state championship two years in a row, so all good things must come to an end. Our district is really competitive. The last four years, our district has either had 3 teams or 4 teams in the state semifinals. This year, it three of them are still in it. Wish it could have been us, but it just wasn't in the cards.

Yesterday was lazy day and grocery shopping. Today is church. The temps here are about to plummet. We were at 55 yesterday and the high today is in the 30's. Tomorrow...in the teens. Eek. The good news is that the snow is going to stay about 30 miles north of us. I'm hoping this is winter's last hurrah. I'm ready for baseball season.

See y'all this afternoon.

I’m so happy to hear you had a nice time in Florida. The weather sounds wonderful, I’m looking forward to warmer temperatures.
I hope your work week ahead goes well and is uneventful between your coworkers!
Enjoy the rest of the weekend Holiday. Sending hugs!

Merry Sunday MMC!
We’re expecting some more wintry weather this evening. We could see the same amount as Edge, 4-8 inches of snow. My husband and I are going to the Islander game this afternoon, hopefully we’ll be back home before the snow starts falling. We’ll probably pick up a pizza on the way home so I’ll get a break from cooking. And American Idol starts tonight, I love that show. I hope everyone is well and has a nice day!
xx

Good Morning, Folks.

As we proceed into our weekend, so do we also proceed on into our count.
Day after day, it continues. Step by step. Milestone by Milestone.
We march ever forward to our ultimate goal. Then we start all over again.
The true "neverending story".

So, then. Let's continue:
Days to the Season: 255
Days to Christmas Day: 297

And the 1/3 point to Christmas Season 2019?
Well that lurks just 12 days down the road.
Already so close to SINGLE DIGITS!
(Good gracious. Are we really that close to another single digit situation??)

The sun shone and the temps warmed up well into the 60's yesterday, with no precipitation at all.
But as the roller coaster travels along its up and down track, today will be chillier, with our high barely over 50 and a low tonight in the 30's.
Our present thermometer indication is 46 degrees, here.

Have a Super Sunday Folks, and enjoy the remainder of your weekend!

Happy Sunday!

I might take a crack (craic? :D ) at making some Irish soda bread this morning. Yes, I'm a week early, but I could divide it into two small loaves and save one for next week. Other than that, laundry and a little relaxation will make up the day, I think.

Like so many others, we're expecting 4 to 8 inches of snow overnight. Will have to wait and see what that does to tomorrow's commute. Maybe I'll start the workday at home if the roads aren't clear. But I was surprised as how quickly the roads (even the side roads) were clean after the couple inches we had Friday night.

We turn our clocks ahead an hour on March 10th too; I thought it used to be much later; the first day of Spring is March 20th. I always hope for no snow by then, but in reality that would not serve us well since our snowbanks are still over five feet high and naturally that would amount to some nasty flooding. I will try to be patient.

Greetings Merry Chums +d

My husband was looking better after his nurse managed to use the plastic chair to get him into the shower.

He is out of isolation and no longer considered contagious or infectious.

While we were waiting for the shared room to be ready, we met a fellow in the Sun Room. My dad had stopped by and was telling stories and they were getting along well.

Gary was starting to look better; more colour in his face and not so groggy.

At dinner, I had to call the nurse for Harry - my husband's roommate for two Angina attacks within ten minutes of each other. I'm trained in first aid so I asked him during the first one if he had Angina and he confirmed it.

He also is receiving chemo for prostrate cancer and has a bag due to kidney problems and complications of diabetes. He was in the hospital because he tripped over his poodle and smashed up his knee.

This morning, I received a call from the hospital at 5:45 telling me to come to the hospital and the room number. I freaked, but before I asked a question the caller inquired, "Is this Tracey?" I replied no and he hung up before I could ask if it was regarding Harry. Totally upset me because my husband would freak out if Harry died. So, I quickly pulled myself together and headed up earlier than I planned so I could assure my husband that he was in capable hands.

Harry was okay, he was trying to reach his wife to pick him up. Scared the daylights out of me for nothing.

Then Harry informed me that my husband was being harrassed by the night nurse who was also very condescending to him and if we wanted to sue, he would be a witness. Well, it was regarding my husband disputing the fact that he didn't receive his bedtime meds because he never slept and if they had given him two sleeping pills, he would have slept. We aren't suing anyone; I wasn't there so I have no idea about the tone of the conversation.

Harry was in a "time out corner" because he was rude to the nurse. He and my husband weren't supposed to sit together. (Well, why didn't they just pull the curtain?) I think Harry is a bit of an exaggerator.

I reassured my husband that the medications are logged on the computer and I asked his day nurse who was on after dinner if he had received his medication and he indicated that he had given it to him an hour and half early because my husband insisted he needed to sleep, but couldn't remember getting his meds.

Tonight I will be there to witness it so this doesn't happen again. I told him that my guess was that he was starting to feel better from the fluids and antibiotics so his insomnia had kicked in; his nurse said, if he wasn't sleeping by midnight, they could give him another time of sleep aid that doesn't require doctor approval.

When I arrived, I saw my husband's coat on the foot of the bed. It was hard to stand my ground and deny his request to come home.

I told him we still had a day or two to get through and he had to be able to walk around the unit a bit on his own before I could bring him home.

He was upset, but accepted it. I came home to take a nap and I'll head back up in a few hours.

I am kind of hoping Harry gets released because he isn't a good influence for my husband who would rather not be there.

My husband complains, but he's not rude, I feel bad for the nursing staff when they have to deal with ornery patients.

I haven't encountered any staff that have been less than the pleasant, even the ones bringing and retrieving meal trays are cordial with the patients.

Can't wait for this to be something we might laugh about one day.
