Maybe we should have a day when we INVITE "lurkers" to post and ask questions---sort of an Open House---Leon Day, maybe?.

This is a great idea, MC! I agree it can be confusing to jump in the middle of the conversation or scary, but this would be much more welcoming!

Good Thursday morning, Christmas friends!

We're finally getting some much needed rain. Our garden appreciates it, too.

Today is Nancy's birthday! This afternoon her sister is hosting a drop-in party at their office, and this evening we're all going to a little Italian restaurant after Elizabeth's Mary Poppins practice.

I hope y'all have a great day! :D
Happy Birthday to Nancy!!!

Good morning friends! Happy Thursday! Another day off here. DH is off again with me, so we're going to work more on pricing for the yard sale. We've never had one before, so we have a lot to get rid of. DD has a dental appointment at 1130, so we've got to run her there and possibly back to school for a little bit, but other than that, no other plans during the day. Tonight, we plan on taking the kids to the first drive-in of the summer. Unfortunately, we'll all be up late, but they have 1.5 days of school left, so I think it will be okay that they will be. They aren't doing anything anyway. It's always a fun family time and something we always look forward to!

Hope you all have a great day!
I miss going to the drive-in theater. Y'all have fun!

Quick check in from work - O'Malley is out of the dog house - the Health Unit closed our case.
Whew! Talk about a heavy weight being lifted. +f
Carl says he is relieved. He missed O'Malley at the 'Pines yesterday!
(Those two have gotten pretty tight, you know.)

Happy Forwarding Through The Week MMC! Definitely trying to push myself through each day. Still sick but not as bad as Wednesday. And Wednesday wasn't as bad as Tuesday. It's like I'm recovering a little each day. Hopefully that trend continues through today and tomorrow. I'd like to be close to normal for the weekend. Have a great day Forwarding Through The Week!
What exactly is this "normal" you speak of? Hope you reach your goal!:)

I think we old-timers get so used to seeing each other here, that we start conversing in shorthand. I don't always remember that other folks are reading without posting.

You are all welcome to join in! The more the merrier...literally!

Thanks, BradMac! I actually think it is inspiring that this forum has so much history and so many long term participants. My only other experience with a community like this was on a weight loss site and it was a completely different experience, I never did get up the nerve to post and stop following the boards. I should have known that a group dedicated to celebrating the spirit of Christmas would be a more welcoming group, but this has certainly exceeded my highest hopes!

I am so happy for you both!!!

Good to hear the weather is getting better. Hope you enjoy your vacation. I've heard of Dress for Success. I missed the local event so I gave my husband's good clothes to some young adults at the Crisis Centre so they can look sharp for job interviews or other special events or simply to feel good wearing them.

The rain has subsided enough and we've had sunny days in between so the flood warnings for nearby communities has been reduced. There was lots of destruction and damage to many homes, but the overall threat for the entire community is no longer a high alert.

Thoughts and prayers are with those who are dealing with the aftermath of the floods. I'm glad that the threat is no longer a high alert!

I knew the water was high around here as the seasonal creek sounded like a river a few days ago and there was enough water in the basement to postpone the replacement of the water pump (but not enough to pump out ~ yay!), but I had no idea that there were several places where there was enough damage that the Governor declared a state of emergency for the county. We lucked out at the farm!

Feel better, Edge!

Not much to report here for my day.

My TV box is caput! So I am unable to watch any TV for the next 5-7 days until the new box arrives. Most people would be put off by this but touch wood the internet is working fine, I have YouTube and it means I can make a conscious start on the cross stitch tablecloth for my grandmother as well as getting a fair amount of cleaning and decluttering done.

Took pupster out for his first long walk today too so he is now shattered and caught a glimpse of myself on husbands camera - I knew the camera added 10lbs but Im not sure how many cameras were on me! Good grief......a pre season kick up the bum is in order I think too.

MerryCArey - Im glad to hear your pooch is all clear.

A cross stitch tablecloth will be a great present for your grandmother as there will be a lot of love in each stitch. I hope you post a picture of the finished project! :)

I hope everyone is enjoying their week!! Between mom’s doctors appointments and the nieces being bored now that they are out of school, I haven’t had a chance to slow down.

I hope things slow down for you soon, made! xx

Sounds like a great way for Nancy to celebrate! Don't forget the cake!

I stumbled onto my first Christmas forum quite by accident. It's been over 16 years I think. I wondered if I'd still have stories to share after all that time and find it rather merry that I do.

Before the Christmas forum life, I was a closet lover; I listened to merry tunes in the off-season with headphones and only spoke of Christmas about 4 times a year and then that increased a bit and then I found a Christmas site where other people thought about Christmas all year and I was marvelled by their merry enthusiasm.

A few times I had trouble getting here as much as I do now; life gets in the way sometimes, but several of us are quite steady posters. One thing that stands true is that once you hang your stocking on the mantel you can come and go and it will still be there.

We always leave the merry porch light on for those who wish to enter.
