I don't have a pooch ... ... must be someone else.
Let us see the tablecloth when you finish it!

I meant to post that to AuntieMistleToeDear I think - and I have only just realised I wrote dog when I should of wrote cat! It was a long day yesterday!

I will post pictures when I have managed to get started , let alone complete the tablecloth but I have made her something every year and it always is appreciated by her because of the time and effort that goes in to it.

The oldest known living woman in America; died yesterday at 114 and she was from my city. I didn't know her, but I knew her Great Nephew. He passed away in 2017 from cancer.
114 - wow.
Wow - I bet she had some incredible stories to tell. What a life she must of led.

I have not let my body recover and I'm feeling it. I've tried to drag myself through the week and not call in sick which I haven't done but that has caused my body to not fully recover. I will be fine with an afternoon to rest, evening to rest, and a weekend to take it easy (well I never fully stop but at least slow down a little). Have a great 1st TGIF of June!
I hope you feel better soon Edge xxx Take it easy and rest up! xx

You guys are the first I have told this to because this is the only place I feel safe to do so. Am I weird or what ?

Not weird at all! We all have our comfort zones and people we feel comfortable talking to. I did it myself a few days ago and confided just how rubbish the last 18 months have been - Im not even sure my real world friends know most of whats happened! If you ever need a chat I am always about too so more than welcome to PM me :) xxx

Good Morning, Milestone Thresholders!

And once again, as we have 8 times before this year, we stand on the doorstep of another Milestone, this one being the 200-Day Christmas Day Window.

Days to the Season: 159
Days to Christmas Day: 201

After TOMORROW Folks, BOTH of our counts will start with the number "1".
(The year is slipping away, my Friends!)

We had the threat of rain for a good part of the day yesterday, but nothing more than a sprinkle actually fell.
Today, will see the odds of rain increase to 90 percent, with a high chance right on through the weekend.
Our present back yard thermometer reading is 75 degrees and we've already had a light sprinkle come and go.

Have a Fabulous Friday, Everybody!

Good Morning MMC !

I need to get back to hanging out here more.
Been going through a rough patch, not sure what is going on. I feel like a gopher who pokes its head out once in awhile, smiles, waves then quickly retreats into its hole again. I have only been going out when I have to got to work or drive someone somewhere. You guys are the first I have told this to because this is the only place I feel safe to do so. Am I weird or what ?

You’re not weird at all, never think that! We’re all here to listen if you need to talk and if you ever need to vent. Prayers for you and hope that it gets better, Star. (((Hugs)))

No, not weird ... possibly just stressed, or a little down. I know that feeling well. Some days I'm a chatterbox, and other days I just don't want anyone to notice me. I call it "feeling mousy." Sometimes I can put my finger on what kicks it off; other times, I don't have a clue. But MMC is a good place to go when you're feeling kind of mousy.

Thanks, BradMac! I actually think it is inspiring that this forum has so much history and so many long term participants. My only other experience with a community like this was on a weight loss site and it was a completely different experience, I never did get up the nerve to post and stop following the boards. I should have known that a group dedicated to celebrating the spirit of Christmas would be a more welcoming group, but this has certainly exceeded my highest hopes!
I was the same way with another board. If you've been here a while, you may have noticed that I'm something of a Star Trek fan. vulcan.gif I frequented a Star Trek board, but those folks were not open to new people, so I stopped visiting.

We love to grow our community! Tell all your friends! :)

Morning all. Happy Friday! It's only 9:30 and it's already too warm for me. Took the dog to the forest for a nice walk and near the end he didn't want to play fetch anymore. He just walked quite a ways ahead of me and I found him waiting near the car. I guess it's too warm for him too.

Because of the heat, last night I was searching for a nice Christmas video to cool me off. I love the Rankin-Bass specials but I found one from 1968 called The Night Before Christmas. It's based on Clement Moore's book and features a nice choir singing parts of the story.

This was one I haven't seen before and was a nice surprise to a warm June night. Take care and keep cool.

I hope your rough patch passes (I don’t think it’s weird at all) Sending hugs your way!

I don't think you're any weirder than me, if that helps. ;)

I hope you feel better soon. I'll send a prayer for you!

TGIF, Christmas friends!

Nancy's sister had a drop-in "wake" for Nancy's youth yesterday at their office, and it was a lot of fun. All the visitors came dressed in funeral attire; I even went home and put on a suit LOL. Last night, we all went to dinner at one of our favorite Italian places. All in all, I think it was a great birthday for her!

It's going to be a rainy weekend (thank you, Lord!), so I don't expect to get much done. Netflix, take me away!

I hope y'all have a great day! :D

You’re not weird. It sounds like you’re hurting which we all do from time to time. I always seek out my counselor when I feel that way and that helps me. Perhaps seeking counsel or a good friend (like here) might be a great place to start to keep your head out a little longer. Sending you love and prayers!

Merry Friday friends!
Its going to be a pretty nice day with temperatures in the mid 70’s. I walked Rocky, tidied up the house and started laundry so far. I’m just having a cup of coffee right now and I’m working on a menu plan and grocery list for next week. Thinking about what I’m going to cook on Father’s Day as well. It will just be a typical day of errands and chores for me. We’re going to grill steaks later tonight for dinner. That’s about it. I hope everyone has a great day and a wonderful weekend ahead!!!
xx

Lol!! I turned 40 2 weeks ago and I’m still in mourning.

We have 102 year olds at the retirement community I work at who use a punching bag, run, and volunteer daily, and I met a 106 year old a few years back with the most amazing stories. Our seniors are incredible people with much to continue offering to the word!!

My Great Uncle Joshua died at 105 several years ago. On his 100th birthday he walked to the park and stood on his head on one of the picnic tables. :D He walked all over town and was in great health until he was about 103. Then dementia started and his health went down from there.

I fell very lucky to have known him when I was in school. I was able to talk to him about his childhood and his life overall. Like most of my family, he was from Appalachia, way up in the mountains. He had done about everything: military, coal miner, sheriff, bootlegger (yep both sides of the law), owned a grocery store, and a lot of other jobs I don't even remember.

Good morning all.

I hope everyone is having a good Friday.

Last night my wife and I went to see the movie, Ma. It was pretty good.
This evening we are having dinner with my dad for his birthday (which was actually on the 4th). We are going to a great Mexican restaurant here in our town. It is called El Sombrero. It is truly the best Mexican food I have ever had. It is not the typical chain Mexican food. The owner is a great guy who uses his own recipes for all of the food. He also holds a Thanksgiving dinner for free every year. He collects donations to help with the cost, but the majority of the cost comes out of his own pocket. He is really a wonderful guy and does so much for the community.

Everyone have a wonderful day!

My Absolute FAVORITE Christmas Cartoon!!!! I probably watch it at least half a dozen times during the Christmas Season.
