Lulu got a good report from the vet, and he took her cast off. She was literally vibrating with fear (she does the same thing at the groomer's place), and I was saying "It's ok, it's alright, Lu." I noticed the two vets looked at each other sideways, and I admitted that I talk to her like she's a child. They didn't say anything, but they smiled. LOL

What can I say? She's my baby! :p
Glad to hear of the good report. There's nothing wrong with comforting your pet. She should know you are with her.

They must be used to it with other fur-parents. It was my husband who started referring to us as O'Malleys mom and dad. He'd sometimes ask, "Where's Mommy?" And O'Malley would glance up at me. Whether or not O'Malley was acknowledging me as his mom or wondered what was wrong with "Daddy" remains a mystery. Gary would laugh at me when I talked to the cat and remind me he doesn't understand, but then I'd catch him doing it. They may not understand the words, but they understand the compassionate voice behind them.
Glad she's doing better - she's a cutie.

First day back to work was long and I wished I had napped more during my vacation, but I didn't want to waste it away with sleep. Only napped on two different days the whole 14 days I was off work.

At 1:30 I felt the need for a siesta. I made it through though and I know tomorrow will be easier even if I'm working longer hours than today.

We were expecting severe thunder storms in our area and didn't get a drip of rain today. We have four lakes in our area and quite often the rain gets diverted to communities around us.

The humidity is high and it sure feels like it's going to rain, but the sky tells a different story.

I came home to check on O'Malley on my lunch break and will do that more often when I'm not on the road.

O'Malley always looks so nervous when the door opens until he hears my voice and sees my face; it's like he remembers the paramedics coming in and taking my husband away and fears for his safety.

For a few seconds it looked like my husband was watching for me from behind the screened window. I did a double-take, guess it was just an odd reflection or something.

I guess we are both still adjusting to being on our own.

It has it's advantages though and I always look on the bright side of things. I haven't watched CNN for over three months and I can watch the end of a movie (he was famous for waking up ten minutes before the ending).

:ornarment But you know I'm staying jolly.

Good Monday morning, Christmas friends!

I spent the weekend nursing Lulu while Nancy and Elizabeth spent the weekend on St. Simons Island. What the..? o_O Actually, Lu was a pretty good patient. I had to carry her outside for her business, and lift her onto her bed, but we also rode around town on the golf cart and ate a few chips.

Still, I'm looking forward to the girls coming home today! :D

Lu has a vet follow-up appointment today. I hope y'all have a great day! :)

Awww sweet Lulu with her cast. Glad her report from the vet was good. I also talk to Loki like he’s my little boy, especially at the vet where he shakes like a leaf. Speedy recovery to Lulu.

Good Merry Morning; coach it's "Pines Eve" so it will get better.

Taking my car to the fix it shop the insurance company deals with and then picking up my free to me rental and then going to work.

I'm still impressed with the decency of the young man who stayed with his vehicle and "owned the collision"; if he had taken off, I would have had to get the police involved and hope that the grocery store security cameras reached that far.

It shouldn't take long, they just have to reseal the bumper and touch it up with paint in two spots. They made me a bit nervous because they indicated they were looking for any other damage that may have occurred that I'm not aware of; I've been driving it ever since the accident without any problems so they won't find anything else wrong with it. They mentioned two dings on the car, but those paint chips were likely caused by flying rocks not the accident. I don't want them painting the hood - that wasn't part of the collision. Just the front frame.

It's only costing me the daily insurance that Enterprise Rental offers as my insurance and the drivers won't cover that. If it takes them more than two days to fix it, they aren't in a rush and should not have booked me in.

Enjoying some tea in my Santa mug.

Have a great day, merry wackos! -lights-

Good Morning, Folks.
Inside a week to go, now.
(You know what I'm talking about.)

Let's review today's numbers:
Days to the Season: 106
Days to Christmas Day: 148

With only SIX days to go to the 100-Day Season Window, we now find ourselves less than a week away from that momentous Milestone marker and the beginning of a DOUBLE-DIGIT countdown to Christmas Season 2019!
But well before that, only about 8 weeks from now, we will launch Christmas Blossoms 2019.
Be sure your cameras have good batteries and plenty of storage space, because I predict a banner year for our annual photo thread!

It just keeps getting gradually warmer but yet it's staying reasonably comfortable owing to humidity levels still remaining under control.
Today will again see highs in the low 90's with a near 0 percent chance of rain.
Presently, we are beginning this second day of the work week at 72 degrees here in the North Carolina piedmont.

Have a Terrific Tuesday, Friends!

Awe, poor pup! You think they would be used to it? That’s strange. My vets talk to my girls the entire time too, just like I would, just like I would! Hope she continues to do well!

We live in a farming community, and I think they spend a lot of their time with farmers, treating cows, pigs, etc. Still...LOL!

Good Tuesday morning, Christmas friends!

Nancy came home form the beach yesterday afternoon, and Elizabeth is coming back today with Nancy's sister. Lulu sure was happy to see her mama, even though she's not feeling well. I think she misses the support that the cast gave her. We'll get through it.

Nancy and I were supposed to go to the mountains this weekend to do some pressure washing, and to finish the alarm installation (finally), but with Lu's sore leg, it may have to be postponed again. We'll see.

I hope y'all have a great day! :)

Thanks Crown! Happy Next to Last Day of July!

I just learned that my cousin's husband has Metastic Cancer that started out as untreated Prostrate cancer. He didn't articulate his symptoms well enough for the doctors to consider prostrate cancer as the problem so they treated him for other lesser ailments over the last two years. He also has a kidney stone the size of a golf ball. The cancer has spread all over his body. No treatment offered, yet they are optimistic that he could live another three years. I used to live with my cousin and one of her sisters during the last two years of College and we've always been close. I feel helpless. Hope to connect in person over the summer with them and their two grown sons.

Also, my brother's roommate passed away suddenly from a unexpected heart failure. Her daughter is getting married next weekend and they will proceed with the wedding as planned and celebrate her life later in the summer.

Sometimes it's easier to accept the loss of life when there was some sort of notice like with terminal cancer, but to have a heart attack in your 40's is shocking.

I feel for her husband and those that are feeling devastated from her loss. I don't think I ever met her; she and her husband bought a place with my brother and a fourth roommate to save on costs of Condos in Toronto. They have a beautiful place like an old Vincent Price movie - filled with retro decor and a great spot for jamming parties.
So sorry....sending prayers!

I do the same thing...Leo absolutely freezes at the vet and is terrified. I stand in front of him and pet his head and tell him "he is a good boy and that mommy is here and loves him"...lol I am sure the vet thinks I am crazy but it seems to comfort him.

Is it really just Monday?
I was thinking the same thing...last night I was thinking it was Tuesday or Wed? Ugh!

147 days until Christmas!!!! I wish there was only 47 more days to go, instead!

Me too! Well I'm listening to the Kringle Radio tonight, cuz I've been in a mood for Christmas. I'm drinking a cup of hot mint tea, which is just about the only Christmasy drink I can find right now. :-)
