+b Happy Milestone Day!+i

100 days to the start of the season - how come it feels like we were never truly "out of the season".

Meatloaf, potatoes and corn are almost ready with plenty for leftovers.

Going out to dinner with a friend after work tomorrow.

Didn't do much today, cleaned the bathroom, went out for a short drive to "blow the stink off" as my mother used to say.

Keep a merry thought in your head - pretty easy knowing tomorrow we're looking at 99 days to the start of our merry season.

@xmas365 & @brent it’s good to see both of you checking in!!

Thanks, made. It's great to check-in and see you, too. I may not be around a lot, but you are all still my family. I miss you guys.

Good morning all

Well its school holidays here so I have been busy with my daughter and son so havent been online much.

We have been blackberry picking which is how I know we are really getting into fall now so yeasterday we made jam and a cake as well as walking the dog and today we will go out for a walk and run some errands as well and maybe even a little more blackberry picking. I have an empty shelf in the freezer so I would like to get a load in ready for the coming winter months to add to crumbles and maybe even so some more jam at a later date.
My mother in law seems to have an abundance of strawberries to so hopefully if they are still growing I can add them as well.
I wish I knew someone with an apple tree so I could fill the freezer with them too! I love all the winter prep :-)

Before long I will start heat proffing the house and making it winter cosy. Our heatwave seems to have ended now and and the rain returned this morning so it looks like our winter weather is on the way although we are still about 19 / 20 degrees.

Hope you are all ok and I will try and check in more.

I havent upgraded my membership yet - I meant to do it - but can anyone tell me when sign up for the exchanges and christmas card swap finish? I dont want to miss them as I really enjoyed them last year :-)

"A good conscience is a continual Christmas." Benjamin Franklin

This quote lives true here on these merry pages on MMC and within this countdown thread as we gather to travel the merry journey keeping merry thoughts in our hearts and minds throughout the year.

Other hearts will begin to open near the end of October or November, but here we feel it as if the celebration continues daily.

I remember when my mom passed away and I felt unsure of how the following Christmas was going to be celebrated. Initially my dad and brother didn't want to exchange gifts, but closer to Christmas my dad realized that it wasn't proper to simply end it all. Although the decorations were minimal compared to previous years, he managed to get his Tree up and strung lights outside and we lit the annual runway for Santa with luminaries up and down both sides of the street and up the walkway and steps to his home welcoming a select few guests and yes, in the end, we did exchange a few gifts with each other. I remember thinking my husband wasn't going to make it to New Year's that year. I feel glad that I had a few extra months with him.

I was bound and determined to make it memorable for myself so I wound up buying gifts for 8 co-workers who had children that call me "Auntie" although we aren't related. Several of them sent me clips of their children opening their gifts and thanking me for them. Two of the boys who were recipients, drew pictures of Santa for me. The joy on their faces and time spent picking out special items of interest for each child helped me keep Christmas in my heart.

Thinking about this Christmas has me wondering how I'll manage to remain cheerful facing the first one without my spouse. I trust I'll face it the same way I did last year taking time to remember Christmases past and opening my merry heart to experience something new.

Participating in card and gift exchanges and Operation Christmas Child by filling shoe boxes sure helped bring on the smiles last year.

"Christmas is a season for kindling the fire of hospitality in the hall, the genial flame of charity in the heart." Washington Irving

Happy 99 days to the seasonal count, my merry chums!

Stay Jolly!

@Lynn68 At the top of the welcome page for the forums, you'll see an announcement that the 14th Annual Card Exchange is now open for Premiere Members.

Won't be long before the gift exchange thread is open as well.

Good Tuesday morning, Christmas friends!

It's a wet day, and I think it's awesome. We've been without rain for a couple months, so this is much needed.

I think we're making a trip to Sam's Club tonight to stock up on some items for Bernie to sell at his store. Of course, that will also mean a trip to a nicer restaurant than Subway. ;)

I hope y'all have a great day! :D

Good DOUBLE-DIGIT Morning, dear Friends!

Oh, yes indeed!
In case you were absent yesterday, we passed a major Milestone marker, that point being the 100-Day Season Window, which means we are now in Double-Digit Season number territory.

Behold:
Days to the Season: 99
Days to Christmas Day: 141
(Doesn't it just seem so much shorter all of a sudden, when there are just TWO digits in that first number?)

But respite is short-lived, for there is always the next marker to contend with.
Are you ready, Folks? I hope so. Because the next Milestone may come as a shock.
It's the THREE-QUARTERS point to the Season!
Ready for yet another shock?
It's only EIGHT days away. Already down to SINGLE DIGITS!!
(This is too much, I tell you. Too much!)

Still more rain early yesterday afternoon. But again, the temperatures were knocked down to the low 70's.
Today and the next several, should see us up into the low 90's, but with a reduced chance of precipitation.
This work week day number two has begun here in the central part of the state at 72 degrees.

Have a Terrific Tuesday, Everybody!

Thanks Crown! That 99 looks INSANE!

Good morning MMC!
I hope everyone is well! I have a meeting today with my ex boss (I worked for a preschool a few years back) I’m going to see if she has a shift that will be a good fit for me. I’m just looking to get out of the house for a couple of hours a day. We’ll see what happens. Other than that it will be a typical day of errands and chores. Hope everyone has a nice day!
xx

Dusted the leftover fried chicken, last evening...Tonight's feast is reheated homemade chili. Between physical therapy, and the hour we will get home, no one is going to be doing any original prep/cooking.

Sounds good; now that I'm only cooking for one; I always wind up with leftovers on purpose for another meal or lunch during the week. It's been hot around here, but soon I'll be back to making my homemade soup, chili, etc. I think it's a great idea to have a few meals prepared in advance to speed things up.
