Good Saturday late-in-the-day! Can't believe we're only 8 Saturdays away from Christmas! I just started 9 days of staycation and it was truly a relaxing day where naps were on the menu. Tonight Daivd, Loki and I will snuggle up on the couch under blankets (it got really cold all of a sudden) and catch up on the dvr. Hope everyone is enjoying a great day!

Enjoy!

Merry Saturday!

Woke way too early with a major coughing episode, so I am glad I am home this weekend. I promised my cousin I would wait with her at the hospital next week while her husband has hip surgery, so I want to get better before I go there.

It amazes me that it is already time to turn the clocks back an hour. Good timing in more ways than one! :)

Have a merry weekend, my friends!

I’m so not looking forward to the time change.

Enjoy your weekend at home and prayers for your cousins husband! Hope your cough goes away quick!

This is our first weekend home since the lake opened in early April… Seems strange to be home on a Saturday but we got a lot done!! :)

have a great evening!

Decorations are almost done...looks like the movie will be Christmas Vacation. Starting to look like a taco kinda night...with dip...and chocolate chip cookies!
Sooooooooo exciting! Share pics please!

I hope your cold goes away as quick as it started!!!

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!! We got the call last night that my cousin lost her battle with cancer yesterday and that my great uncle wasn’t handling his 2nd round of chemo very well. So it’s been a solemn kinda day here. I’m getting ready to kick back and enjoy the new hallmark movie though while doing some Christmas shopping online.

Sorry for your loss. May she rest in peace. Prayers for your great uncle, may he respond to the chemo.

I've made up my mind to get out my nativity set and put it up tomorrow! Can it ever be too early to look at the beautiful nativity? I've also decided to get a small, real, table top tree. I think they sell them at Home Depot at around Thanksgiving. I know the big ones come out on the Friday after TG but when I was decorating I remember the small ones coming in earlier. I miss the smell of a Christmas tree. Last year I had a rosemary plant and I decorated it for Christmas. Since I gave away all my Christmas decorations, I'll just buy a nice string of lights and a few keepsake ornaments to pass down to friends and relatives.

I started collecting my nativity figures about 20 years ago. I usually bought about 4 or 5 figures every year after I bought the manger and the Holy Family. It just grew.

When I sold my big house and moved to my retirement condo, the display was too large to put in one place. Now that I have a larger condo, it'll fit. The wisemen/camels will have to be mounted on the wall making their way to the rest of the display. I usually look for some pine branches to decorate the back of the manger.

This is so amazing. You have the exact same nativity set that I do! I don't have as many of the little animal figurines that you do, but all of the others are the same!

We've been decorating all weekend so far! How about you guys? Our tree was officially lit on November 1st, and yesterday i started putting up the outside decorations and lights. I will finish those up hopefully this afternoon, and my wife is decorating inside! Putting out Christmas tablecloths and what not, etc.. And the best part is that she is making us a sort of mini Christmas/Thanksgiving dinner tonight as a "test" before needing to do it for a real in a few weeks. We are trying a new turkey recipe, and making mashed potatoes and green bean casserole!

Prayers and comfort on the passing of your cousin and for your uncle who is still fighting the battle.

I saw an interesting Nativity in a festive box with a string of lights and glowed red; it would work well with someone with a confined space. Glad to hear you have the space to enjoy more of your pieces.

Good morning, Christmas friends! Halloween was a success in our household. Yesterday, we went out and ate...kinda in limbo between the seasons.

Today is one of my favorite days of the year. The first Saturday of November is
Christmas Tree Day in our house. We set up the tree, put on the decorations, have a good meal as a family, and watch a Christmas movie. The tree is out of the box laying in the floor...and my girls can't stop squealing about it.

Got up this morning about 5:00...went outside and started a fire....and played Christmas music. The first song....White Christmas. I could feel my heart smiling.
I miss those days of having children in the house at Christmas time.
Your first Saturday of November sounded wonderful.

-lights- A jolly good morning y'all -surprise-

Cat didn't let me take advantage of the extra hour of sleep. I wasn't counting on it anyway.

I picked up a beautiful glass candle with cardinals in a tree painted on it and a white birch holder, when I was at the Christmas Craft Show yesterday. I set it up on my pedestal and flicked the switch (it's battery operated which works for me and my fear of fire); it added illumination to the potted pine and that made everything calm and relaxing.

The Across the Creek Neighbour has added blue lights to her wooden banister that assists her in getting up and down the two levels of the lawn; won't be long now before her outdoor lights are lit.

This year in her Christmas card, I will add a note with a photo of the Happy New Year sign her son and daughter made for me. I will also share a short note about the timing of that sign and how much it meant to me.

You see, I returned home from work early on New Year's Eve to find my husband had fallen and couldn't get up. I managed to get him into bed and was stern about him staying there until I got back. He did.

I headed out and returned with an electric walker. When I went back into the bedroom to check on him, I noticed a different light from the bedroom window. I drew closer and saw a huge sign on the lawn across the creek. I went out to the living room to get a better look from the balcony window and was so overjoyed with her appreciation for my random act of merry kindness over the last few years.

The sign was in green and red letters and it read, "HAPPY NEW YEAR to the Merry Stranger Across the Creek" and it was surrounded by multi-coloured lights.

While other people were celebrating New Year's Eve, I was assembling a walker. It really made my night; in some way I felt like it was a message from everyone here as well as her and it kept my spirit joyful and hopeful; it gave me strength to stay merry.

Going to visit my dad later and get busy wrapping presents.

Keep a merry thought in your head -mistletoe-
