Preparing myself for a busier than usual work-week with only Friday giving me time to breathe in and out a few extra times without feeling like I'm falling behind in my duties.

Merry Monday MMCers! :ringy

Perhaps this will challenge my body to fight back with this nasty sinus cold. The coughing fits during the night felt like the bump on my head was going to explode.

When I was about 6 or 7 years old, I had a plastic mistletoe in my hand at some point during Christmas in July week. I was chasing Craig around trying to kiss him. He started throwing rocks at me which continued as I withdrew and headed home, he kept coming all the way to my driveway. My mom stepped out of the house and told him that he could make me go blind if a rock hit my eye hard enough. As it turned out, one of the rocks hit my head above the left eyebrow.

Whenever there is pressure near the scar tissue site, the bump pops out. I had it explored twice and there's no tumour, just something that swells as a reaction to anger (sometimes stress) and laughter. The only time it doesn't pop out is when I'm sad or content. I remember leaving a note for Santa that year not to give Craig any presents because he was naughty. My mom saw the note and asked what my Great Auntie Vera said about mistletoe. "Just dangle it over your head and let the magic happen." I wasn't supposed to be chasing Craig with it in the first place. He and I remained friends until he moved out West, but he never reacted to the mistletoe I dangled. It's like reaching out for a high-five and just getting air in return.

Since I've been coughing so hard the last few days, it feels like the bump is going to explode. I'm trying to get through this without antibiotics. At least it reminded me of the mistletoe story and the original Auntie Mistletoe who was a fan of the tradition herself; I created my user name after her.

I'll still go to work and hope the business at hand will keep me busy and force my body to heal itself.

Stay health; stay jolly! :rubhead

I hope you are feeling better by now!!

Another Tuesday is upon us; had a better sleep last night than the previous one; lots of dreams.

O'Malley didn't wake me up; I woke up coughing at 4:40. I've been coughing so hard my ribs on the right side and my stomach muscles are sore.

I made it through 2.5 hours at the Food Bank yesterday; I was in charge of the single and adult/child hampers. I had never been inside before, I dropped stuff off, but never entered. It's really well organized and they have made use of every nook and cranny of what used to be a huge home.

It wasn't raining when I first headed to work; maybe a drizzle, but by the time I got to the Food Bank and the rest of the day the rain came down.

The power went out in a large grid area for about 1.5 hrs. I live close to work so I went to check on O'Malley; my power was still on so I guess my grid is aligned with the barracks and the high school up the street.

I have a 10-hour work day in store today.

Chatted with my dad last night and he informed me that my brother and the limo driver to the stars are coming up on the 23rd and leaving on the 25th; that means we'll be opening our gifts on Christmas Eve before the guests arrive.

Yes, he asked me to sleep over. I may take him up on that so it will save me the taxi fair because I'll have a few drinks.

I told him, I had to spend time tracking Santa; I can do that after the guests leave around 10:00 p.m.

O'Malley the cat and I are looking forward to the second last Hump Day gathering at the Pines tomorrow night.

Stay jolly -surprise-
Sounds like a great time at your Dads! :)

Thank you! Still feeling pretty awful so I had a chest x-ray done this morning and waiting to hear from Dr. about results. I feel the same way I did in May when I had pneumonia so I am betting that I have it again! I've cleared my schedule for the next few days and plan on resting in bed as much as possible so I can be back to productive for the week before Christmas!!
I hope you are doing better!!! xx

Another "blah" day in SoCal. The temp during the drive to the office this morning was 50 heading for 72. A couple more days in the low 70s and then it drops back into the mid 60s. Rain is on the horizon starting late next week. The current forecast for Christmas Day is 63 with some rain. That's about as good as it gets here so I'll take it.

Today is another one of my Fridays. Have a webinar to attend late morning. Other than that just busy work to fill out the day.

Enjoy!

Happy Cold Christmassy Thursday MMC! I had my 8th work party last night and it was fun as always. I almost lost my voice though. I'm still sick. I'm going in this a.m. to do a few things and then telling my boss I'll see you Monday. I need to finally stay home, rest and I also have the ability to do some work from home. Have a great Cold Christmassy Thursday!
Sounds like a wise, outstanding game plan...

Good Wednesday morning! It was so warm and it rained all day Monday, so there’s barely any traces of snow left anywhere. But it got really cold overnight, so there’s ice. I can’t believe it’s already December 11th. It’s as if I’m missing days or something. Pretty much all my Christmas shopping is done and my buffet menu for when my family comes over in the 19th is set. We’re celebrating a bit early because my brother will be out of town over the Holidays. Just have some baking left for the treat boxes I give my family each year. Hope everyone will enjoy a great hump day!
We are celebrating early this year too... December 14 - THIS Saturday!! 1st time ever it's not on Christmas Eve. I'm kinda sad about it!! Hope you have a great time!!!

Another memorable Pines evening

The Inn had more decorations added and the everything was so tastefully done, you'd think Carl had an Interior Design Degree.

After watching White Christmas and listening to the soundtrack over dinner, the guests were entertained by a surprise trio.

The turkey dinner was amazing.

O'Malley and Carl invited me up to assist them with performing a merry song I made up in the shower several years ago.

If It Were Christmas! By Auntie Mistletoe (adapted from Topol - If I Were A Rich Man from: Fiddler on the Roof)

If it were closer to Christmas
Daidle, deedle, daidle, digguh,
Digguh, deedle, daidle, dum
All day long, I’d decorate my home
If it were closer ho, ho, hum.

Wouldn’t have to trim the tree much
Daidle, deedle, daidle, digguh,
Digguh, deedle, daidle, dum
I’d bake some cookies and pies
Hang the lights for the evening skies.

I’d build a big tall snowman with a top hat
And all sorts of frills and things like that
A fine broomstick and perhaps a friend
Who knows where the mistletoe be at
I’d fill my yard with ferris wheels, festive wooden soldiers
A Christmas village and a Nativity - perhaps
I’d build one snow fort for the grandkids to play in
It’d be warm with hot cocoa to serve and gingersnaps

I wouldn’t have to wait much
Santa would be arriving soon
I would wrap gifts by the dozen
Right in the middle of the living room
With ribbons and bows and pretty paper
And special festive tags to match

The people in the town would come to me and wonder
Where’d she get the Christmas spirit from - ours seem under wrap
And how’d she manage to play music from her computer
Piping it out in the streets for all to hear while trying to nap
And amazingly they’d gaze at the revolving Merry-Go-Round
Taking them back to childhood joys and awe

I would watch Christmas movies all night
Daidle, deedle, daidle, digguh
Digguh, deedle, daidle, dum
This would be the sweetest thing of all.

O'Malley had a great time with his buddy, Carl and was still chatting about it when we got home.

Have a terrific Thursday!

BRAVO!!

***** TRAVEL ALERT *****

My sister and I are traveling to Charlotte tomorrow to visit my older nice and attend her husband's graduation from UNC-Charlotte.
As such, a volunteer will be needed for one day only, that day being this Saturday.

My thanks in advance to whoever it may be!
Safe Travels!

An unscheduled day off from work today. A bomb /shooting threat was posted on social media to our high school.

Sad commentary on the times we live in.

But, things like Christmas reminds us that good things will constantly prevail.

Hope everyone stayed safe!!!

Almost quitting time here! :) Tonight I need to brown burger for my families Christmas meal on Saturday, (smokehouse spaghetti) make a cheese log for the same party & mix up cookie dough for cookie day on Sunday! Tomorrow is the annual shopping trip with my friend - our 31st! Saturday morning my sis is coming to help make the spaghetti, and I need to make bruschetta! AND Sunday is cookie day! Busy days ahead!!!

Have a great one everyone!!!!

Good to see you!!

The eye surgeon called today with a dozen questions about my "condition" and most of them were related to being sedated and being ambulatory enough to get on and off the table without a power wheelchair. I can't believe they want me there at 6:30 in the morning. They said I should expect to meet with the anesthesiologist for more questions and concerns she might have.

I'm not sure of my Christmas plans yet. Aside from ordering an organic ham, I really haven't made any preparations.

We had one where I work many years ago. My husband was so upset when he found out that I was one of the people accompanying the fire department and police through the building because I was on the Health and Safety committee and would recognize if something didn't belong so they could hasten their search. Oddly enough half-way through the search I questioned why I was in there and being so calm about it.

Everything turned out fine; there was no bomb, but it was scary.

Better safe than sorry.

I hope you are feeling better by now!!

Not really, but I slept for four hours straight last night. I still have my voice though; I was trying to sing along to music while I was working, but it just triggered my cough so I stopped. BORING.

I feel better than I did at the start of the week.

It's good that they are asking question to make sure they take care of you properly. Kim, do you have to go through it alone? That must be difficult. I'm pretty good with positive self-talk, but still even for gall bladder surgery, I was nervous about it. I didn't tell my parents I was nervous until after it was over because I didn't want them to feel obligated to stay in the hospital.
