Seasonal Candy of the Week time!
Since we're in the Bers preseason, seasonal candy is not hard at all to find.
@cgmcav already provided us with a lovely display this morning, and my wife was able to procure some Reese's Pumpkins from Dollar General yesterday. So today we're going to have a "Throwback Tuesday" situation where we take a look at one of the most underrated seasonal candies of all time!
Behold, the Butterfinger Peanut Butter Cup:
(Did we already cover this one? I don't think we did, but I seem to remember posting about it. Maybe in another thread.)
Take the peanut buttery crunch of a Butterfinger bar, smooth it out a little, and put it inside a Reese's-like chocolate cup, and you have one of the tastiest Franken-candies the world has ever experienced. When these first debuted, I would pick them over a Reese's in a heartbeat.
Sadly, you may never get to experience the joy of these delicious little square cups (yes, they were square-shaped). Whereas Nestlé used to own the rights to Butterfinger in the U.S., candy company Ferrera bought them out resulting in the Butterfinger bar being reformulated and the discontinuation of any Nestlé offshoots, including this peanut butter cup. I haven't seen Ferrera produce a replacement yet, but I'm crossing my fingers that I'll see them again one day.
And I'd be remiss if I didn't post the ode to this candy written and performed by pop-rock band Relient K:
Now, I think I need a Butterfinger today.
