The voting is NOT closed, friend! We will keep riding this train until everyone has had their say!

Unfortunately, you do seem to be correct: I have tallied, I believe, 6 "pro" votes and only one "anti" vote (yours) so far.

In honor of this turnout, we'll have a special candy corn themed "Seasonal Candy of the Week" tomorrow.
Don't forget the mehs, the take it or leave iters. I think there are a few of those.

Morning Halloween Fans! Thanks SS for keeping this Halloween thread going all year. I'm glad you started it and kept it going every day. It's been fun and will be as we head into The Season. Have a great day!
You're welcome! All of the things I post, I do it for all of "YOU THE PEOPLE"!

Good Morning Halloween Friends!

Tuesdays are always really something. You don't have the awful overwhelming feel of Mondays, but yet there is pressure on its own of Tuesday, as it's not yet the middle of the week, where we can relax a little more as we start to have hopes and dreams of what we will accomplish on the weekend.

We are now just two days away from "The Final 50" on The October countdown. You know how fast they go after hitting 100 days, let alone 50. And with "Friday the 13th" just up around the corner now in three days, this week feels positively October-like. Especially when we hit the cool temperatures of an evening. But Thursday and Friday will be near record highs here, at 97, and 95 degrees, respectively. When it cooled down at the end of July and beginning of August, I hoped so hard that we wouldn't have any more heat waves. But I kind of knew better. But there is a big cooldown coming Saturday, and then we have 5 days in a row in the 70's! So once again, I am cautiously optimistic that as we get into the latter part of August, the horrible hot heat is finished for the year.

Have a great day!

Hot and humid here too, and chances of severe weather. Last night I spent about 45 minutes in the basement due to tornado warnings-- the biggest tornado touched down about 6 miles (as the crow flies) away from here. There were reports of other funnels touching down but I have not heard the full reports yet. I hope everyone is safe and that today's system isn't as active. I am ready to put the heat/humidity/t-storms behind us for the year too.

And thanks to Edge for reminding me to say thanks to SS, for adding this thread. I am sure as a person who runs threads that make others so happy, Edge knows the time and work that goes into it, so thank you to you both.

The store locator on Spirit Halloween's website now says that there WILL be a location in my town after all! I gotta go check this out today and see if it's too good to be true. I had already come to terms with the possibility that we weren't getting one this year, but it would be a major "FEELS" boost if I drove past and saw the sign today!

Our Spirit of Halloween store opened up last weekend to high fan fair. They had the local radio station come out and open the store. They also has some type of attraction that did draw a big crowd. I did not check it out, but it sure was crowded when I drove by all day.

Good Morning Halloween Friends!

ONCE AGAIN, we now find ourselves right on the doorstep of another milestone day.

And folks, tomorrow is a Big One. The 50 Days to October milestone.

Sometimes it seems so hard to believe, that we are only a month and a half out from October. A few times this year so far, we have talked about how Oct-Nov-Dec are kind of like "Bonus months", where nobody is missing anything because of the constant recurring holidays. Well I think September should be added to that list too because finding ourselves finally "back in the bers" is like a holiday itself. The point I'm getting at, is that its gonna go FAST, even more so when we get into September. So try and take it all in tomorrow, enjoy the day. Keep Halloween and Fall in your thoughts. And save some fun for FRIDAY THE 13TH, which is in just two days!

Have a great day!

It seems I've lost track of time since I completely missed the Seasonal Candy of the Week yesterday. Having school start on Thursday this week really has me out of sorts, but no matter - the show must go on, and go on we shall:

I promised you a Candy Corn themed pick this week, and, well...here we are.

I think we're all fairly acclimated to (and questioning the existence of) the Turkey Dinner candy corn, but did you know that Brach's has three other "special" varieties? Of the above, the mellow creme caramel apples look the most promising. I tend to dislike tropical flavors so I'm going to pass on the Haunted Tropics variety. And the Skulls and Bones just appear to be a mix of traditional candy corn with some mellow creme shaped pieces in banana and caramel flavors.

As our extremely informal poll shows, it seems that the consensus is that most people here on MMC do actually enjoy candy corn (sorry, @Cedar Grove), but love it or hate it, it's locked in as a Halloween staple with no signs of stopping. What's your favorite variety of candy corn? Is there one candy company who makes it better than the rest? Or do you buy large bags in bulk only to burn them until candy corn is eradicated from the universe? Spout your candy corn confessions in the thread for us to read and politely debate over.

Have a terrific Wednesday, fellow spooks!

50 days to October.png

Good Morning Halloween friends! Well it's here now, a big milestone that many of us, myself included, have been longing for. The 50 Days to October milestone.

I used the picture above way back at 100 days out to October, because I felt then, and still feel now, that this picture almost screams "October weather". You can see the trees that have changed colors in the background, many have already lost their leaves, but there's still the cool, green grass. I could imagine being out on the mower with a sweatshirt on with it being in the mid 50's!

It just feels like everything is coming together now nicely. No more moving at a snail's pace. Tomorrow is Friday the 13th, a Jack O Lantern cheat day if there has ever been one.

Have a great day folks, and enjoy this stupendous milestone day!
