Good Morning Halloween Friends!
Today is Friday the 13th! If any of you are visiting Camp Crystal Lake today, like me, I hope you enjoy your stay!
I LOVE Friday the 13th's, because the whole day you sort of get that Halloween / Creepy vibe.
It's like a cheat day for Halloween. And it will sure serve the purpose today of whetting my appetite for Halloween stuff a little bit. Folks, we've got the FINAL Jack O Lantern day of 2021 a little more than just two weeks away, which also coincides with the arrival of The Bers!
The horrible heat wave has passed, and we are looking forward to a span of about 5 days where it just gets in the 70's! Have a great day, friends, watch out for JASON, and if you see him around, tell him hello for me!

Looks like Apple, Microsoft and Vudu all have a great deal today. Friday the 13th 8-movie bundle for only $13. Crazy cheap.
I don't wanna stay at Camp Crystal Lake or say hello to Jason. I want to go to one of the happy camps where we roast marshmallows and sing campfire songs (hockey masks optional).
In all seriousness, it's great when we get a Friday the 13th so close to Halloween itself. The only thing better would be Friday the 13th in October - which won't happen until 2023. The abundance of Fall and Halloween items already available and the increasing number of stores putting out Halloween candy makes this like a "Jack o' Lantern Day Lite." I might even cheat and listen to the "Great Pumpkin Waltz" today.

Well, yesterday didn't disappoint. The overcast skies and cooler weather last night really made Friday the 13th special. It almost felt like October. I fell asleep watching Friday the 13th part 3, which as crazy as it sounds, was very relaxing, as I am usually lounging on the couch a lot during the TV marathons of Jason and Michael Myers. Yesterday served the purpose of whetting the Halloween appetite.
And now, with our last Jack O Lantern Day of 2021 a little more than two weeks away, it just reaffirms how close all of the good stuff really is. Under three weeks now until THE BERS!

The sunsets are beginning to get closer to our favored Bers sunsets. I was driving home last night and noticed the sky is beginning to take on that familiar tint...but we're not quite there yet. Soon, though!
Oh, I can feel it first thing in the morning, where even though the days are high 90s or 100, the nights are getting into the 60s and the wind is a little bit cooler and that cool wind takes my breath away (pun intended) because I know what is coming.

Good Morning Halloween Friends!
The weekend that makes me long for Fall continues. Yesterday we finally got our bushel of corn blanched and frozen / put away in the freezer. The farmers' market had cherry cider, so I snatched up two jugs. One I will enjoy with Dinner, the other I'm saving for JOL Day, which is now just about 2 weeks away. And I've got sunflowers blooming here, which always makes me instantly think of Fall whenever I see them!
It still seems hard to believe that we are just over TWO WEEKS away from The Bers being back, but yet here we are. I think the horrible hot weather is done for the season. I can't see it being in the 90's in September. The nights are too cool as well, and the sun is setting too soon now to hold the heat. Two weeks from now the sun is going to be setting at 7:45!!

The ONLY thing that disrupts my happy Halloween thoughts is stuff like this:
We have now met our state's record for number of 100 degrees in a year. Now it is a question of will we have one more so we break it? Later this week, we will cool down and have a couple of days of low 70s, that will feel Ber's-like for sure. The town next to mine had their summer celebration this weekend and last night they did a great firework show that I watched from my front porch. Didn't feel Halloween-like at all, but it is coming, for sure.
It has a nice shape, hopefully it will turn orange before your first frost. The leaves on my vines had a hard week with all the high winds, I am hoping they will bounce back and the pumpkins will continue to develop. It is fun watching the progress!!!
