DAYS TO HALFOWEEN: 121
DAYS TO OCTOBER: 275
DAYS TO HALLOWEEN: 305

Good Morning Halloween Friends! Like Edge said, we are closing in on the end of the year. And I've done decent so far at staving off the PCB's. I had a scare Tuesday night, but it was brief. I have two more days to go and I can stop worrying about them! It's amazing, the "feels" feel different in the new year, where it is more of a yearning / longing for the holidays instead of a sadness that they are over!

Let's take just a moment to admire the counts. Only 5 days away now from the 300 Days to Halloween milestone, and today we are exactly 3 weeks away from the 100 Days to Halfoween milestone. For as long away as that one seems, I can promise you that due to forces beyond our comprehension, I think that is the fastest moving count in all of our countdowns.

Have a great day friends! And Happy New Year's Eve Eve!
I'm glad you have kept the PCBs at bay, I have noticed that the longer I have been here at MMC the fewer bouts I have had. I marked many of the Halloween Milestones on my 2022 calendar yesterday, and when I added Halfoween (4/30), I noticed that along with Harry Potter's birthday (7/31), I have two great reasons to invite my niece and her kids over for pumpkin pancakes. Just an example of how MMC keeps the PCBs away!

Good Morning Halloween Friends! Happy New Year's Eve! Folks, we are just ONE DAY AWAY from bringing in the new year. January's arrival brings with it the gradual returning of everything we love. Rudolph Day, Tom Turkey Day, Jack O Lantern Days, those wonderful sprinklings of our favorite Holidays that serve to keep us satiated throughout the Year as we plod foreword through our countdowns. Never missing a day, and always checking the numbers so that we are always aware of where we stand in proximity to our goals.

I have our New Year's Day post drafted and ready to go. It's a lot to digest, a sort of long read, but I like seeing all of the milestone dates out there, the special days mentioned. I'll have my full Jack O Lantern Day schedule done and out there. I think it's going to go better than it did last year. I'm even looking into possibly doing some watch parties through my JOL Day account on Facebook, as I've gained a few followers outside of MMC. But I don't know how that works, and I don't promote that on here because I'm not sure of the rules regarding self-promotion or anything of that nature. So Anyway, happy New Year's Eve, I'll be back on the boards tonight to ring in the New Year, along with all of our chums on the main Christmas countdown thread! Have a great day!

I am really looking forward to the Harry Potter Special that is airing on HBO tomorrow. I subscribed for one-month so I could watch it. I wish I could watch it with my niece but she has a New Years Day party to attend and I don't think I can wait! I am going to add Dark Arts Sundays to all 3-day weekends, and on JOL days!
I have benefitted from so many of your creative ideas! Thank you!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

And also, HAPPY MILESTONE DAY! Wait, already on the first day of the new year? Yes, with the arrival of January 1st, we are now ONE QUARTER of the way back to October. Doesn't seem possible does it? But that my friends is the true beauty of the "bonus months".

You'll see that the countdowns are now in a more organized fashion. Looking back at last year's thread, I kind of had them all thrown together in there. Now they flow better, I think. You can see that we are well on the way on all of them, and just three days away now from the 300 DAYS TO HALLOWEEN milestone.

And now the long read. I'm happy to know that we are having our first Jack O Lantern Day of 2022 here in 30 days. But before we get there, we have to take a trip back to Hogwarts. My first Dark Arts Sunday is on Sunday the 30th this year, when I will begin my yearly re-watch of the Harry Potter movies in anticipation of the coming Fall / Halloween season. Should get through The Sorcerer's Stone, and The Chamber of Secrets. Something about them just sets the mood and ticks all the boxes for those wanting to experince Fall / Halloween/ and even Christmas at times in the movies. Dark Arts Sundays fall on the closest Sunday to the 31st, for our JOL Day Months.

I've got the full schedule ready to go as well for my Jack O Lantern Days. As before mentioned, I am kicking the tires on maybe doing a watch party on my Facebook group for a few of them, but I don't know how the rules work here about promoting stuff, so I'm not really sure what I can say / do regarding that on here.

JACK O LANTERN DAYS 2022:

JOL Day #1 - Monday January 31st
Halloween (1978)
Friday the 13th Part 1

JOL DAY #2 - Thursday March 31st
Halloween 2 (1980)
Friday the 13th Part 2

JOL DAY #3 - Tuesday May 31st
Friday the 13th Part 3
Halloween 4

JOL DAY #4 - Sunday, July 31st
Friday the 13th Part 4
Halloween (Rob Zombie)

JOL DAY #5 - Wednesday August 31st, 2022
Child's Play
Pet Sematary (2019)

Also this year I am happy to announce that I am going to ring in HALFOWEEN in grand style by having my very first HALFOWEEN STEPHEN KING MOVIE MARATHON, beginning Sunday April 24th, and wrapping up on Friday, April 29th. Saturday the 30th is reserved for the one movie that just screams Halloween Season for me, and that is Trick R Treat! Here are the Stephen King movies I've selected for my marathon that week:

Silver Bullet
Carrie (1976)
The Shining
Christine
The Mist
Pet Sematary (1990)

I'm pretty stoked for all of this already, and even though it is "only" January, I think there is a lot of comfort in the fact that out of the entire year, the only months that I really have to go without any dose of October / Halloween whatsoever is February and June. February is a winter doldrum month for sure, but June has lots of excitement with Leon Day, as well as me being happy to reach the summer solstice and the days beginning to get shorter, since honestly the final JOL day of 2022, and the arrival of the Bers are roughly 70 days away from that point. And I'll be sure to share my famous meme!

HAPPY NEW YEAR, and I'm glad we are now "really" on the way back to the best times of the year!

I watched the Harry Potter 20th Anniversary Reunion this morning... gulp, it pulled on some heartstrings. I am going to re-watch the movies this year too. In the past, I use to catch them on SyFy/FreeForm but never in order, so I am going to watch them in order, starting today/tomorrow and then continue on during 3 day weekends throughout the year, I think Columbus Day will get me to the 8th film, but figure if I fall behind I can extend it until Thanksgiving.

Solid, I think you have a great plan for 2022, thanks for sharing! I need the inspiration!

Agreed! This has inspired me to do some early planning of my own. I don't think my schedule will be as exciting since I'm not a fan of scary movies, but I think I can come up with a solid schedule of books, games, and podcasts to enjoy, as well as maybe a few not-so-scary Halloween movies. And Dark Arts Sundays are definitely on the list!

Welcome back to the Halloween countdown! You've been missed here! This thread is always better when our "regulars" are here!

Happy New Year all! December just whizzed by. Bought a new house and have had no sense of routine at all. Still unpacking! But it's getting better and I hope to get a better routine on Monday. The Halloween and Thanksgiving forums will definitely help with that. Although this year should be a bit different. Usually I looking forward to Fall, and although still true, I'm really looking forward to spring this year since we moved onto eight acres of land. Looks like lots of fun to be had once the weather gets better! But also can't wait for the countdowns here with Halfoween coming up as well as the JOL days! Glad to finally find my way back!

Thanks! Happy to be back on a "regular" basis. I took the last week of the month off to collect my thoughts and deal with the PCBs (which weren't quite as bad this year, so far), so now I'm ready to start the countdowns anew!

DAYS TO HALLOWEEN: 302

Good Morning Halloween Friends! New Year's Day did not disappoint. We had our big family dinner, and then we came home and watched "The Night House". I think that is the earliest that I've ever watched a scary movie. In fact I know it is, because I can never remember over my entire life where I have watched a scary movie on New Year's day!

We've got a milestone day coming up this week too, on Tuesday of this week we will celebrate the all-important 300 Days to Halloween milestone! You don't want to miss that one!

Have a great Sunday, friends! Keep some Halloween thoughts in your head!

Good Morning Halloween Friends! We had our first snow of the season last night, and it's still going on! We have about an inch out there and counting! When it is all finished up later this morning, we should have anywhere from 2 - 4 inches!

I'm excited to tell you that TOMORROW, we are going to reach the 300 DAYS TO HALLOWEEN milestone! And that means that this week, we will see the end of the 300's in the counts here until November 2022 and the Halloween 2023 countdown is up and running! Holy cow!

And now time for the Monday question / discussion.

We are seeing the return of seasonal candies once again to the grocery stores. It's obviously not our beloved Halloween Candy, but it's the start of the process.

Do you get excited when you see that a "new" seasonal candy has arrived in the stores?

If you're like me, then the arrival of seasonal candy is another way to count / measure the time. We saw this past week the arrival (in mass) of Valentine's day candy! That means that we are two "candy cycles" away from the return of our treasured Halloween Candies. Seems crazy, no? But here we are:

SolidSnake's Candy Cycle Chart:
Valentine's Day Candy - arrives late December / early January
Easter Candy - Arrives late February / early March
Halloween Candy - Arrives late July / early August
Christmas Candy - Arrives late October

Now of course this is going to vary a little bit depending on where you live, but this is generally the arrival times. Every time I see "new" seasonal candy go out, I can't help but think of Halloween!

Have a great day, friends!

Oh yeah. Love the novelty candy. Saw the Hershey's Kisses Lava and the Kit Kat Raspberry that I don't recall seeing last year.

No i don't want to see seasonal candy. But that is only because i need to lose some weight. I am luckily not a huge candy guy. But a milky way always gets me! I save those for scary season luckily.
