Good Morning Halloween Friends! We had our first snow of the season last night, and it's still going on! We have about an inch out there and counting! When it is all finished up later this morning, we should have anywhere from 2 - 4 inches!

I'm excited to tell you that TOMORROW, we are going to reach the 300 DAYS TO HALLOWEEN milestone! And that means that this week, we will see the end of the 300's in the counts here until November 2022 and the Halloween 2023 countdown is up and running! Holy cow!

And now time for the Monday question / discussion.

We are seeing the return of seasonal candies once again to the grocery stores. It's obviously not our beloved Halloween Candy, but it's the start of the process.

Do you get excited when you see that a "new" seasonal candy has arrived in the stores?

If you're like me, then the arrival of seasonal candy is another way to count / measure the time. We saw this past week the arrival (in mass) of Valentine's day candy! That means that we are two "candy cycles" away from the return of our treasured Halloween Candies. Seems crazy, no? But here we are:

SolidSnake's Candy Cycle Chart:
Valentine's Day Candy - arrives late December / early January
Easter Candy - Arrives late February / early March
Halloween Candy - Arrives late July / early August
Christmas Candy - Arrives late October

Now of course this is going to vary a little bit depending on where you live, but this is generally the arrival times. Every time I see "new" seasonal candy go out, I can't help but think of Halloween!

Have a great day, friends!
Oh yeah! Totally get excited to see new holiday candy go out. Your candy cycle is akin to my count of retail shopping "seasons." However, in Texas we are seeing Easter candy being put out at the same time as Valentine's candy! It's truly bizarre to see chocolate roses and Reese's Eggs next to each other on display.

Yeah I get nostalgic when I see the conversation hearts. Even though I can't stand how they taste! They are to me what candy corn is to others.
I don't like the taste/texture of conversation hearts or candy corn either. I am glad I am not the only one!

I almost forgot about your retail "seasons". So what's it like in Texas right now? What are you seeing?

I'm going to make a Costco trip this weekend, since It's been closed the last two Saturdays due to the Holidays. I imagine that when I go in there, I will see beach clothes, summer pool toys, etc... I'm trying to imagine what comes after that, I feel like generally after Easter and around the build up to memorial day, it's Hoodies and long sleeve shirts and stuff there, which always excites me for Fall! It's truly bizarre how "out of whack" the clothing cycles are compared to the seasons / weather....

It depends on where you go, but Walmart is almost 100% Valentine's right now with some Mardi Gras sprinkled in for good measure. Target and CVS, on the other hand, are both around 75% Valentine's and 25% Easter. In fact, we were able to buy bags of Cadbury Mini Eggs before December even ended. It was kind of surreal.

I haven't checked Walgreens yet, but our local Walgreens sometimes lags behind everyone else. They're probably well-stocked with Valentine's candy, but I doubt they have any Easter yet. I'm going by there tomorrow evening though, so they might surprise me.

Speaking of seasonal candies, did any of your read about the whole Reese's issue? I guess some people who thought they were buying peanut butter trees opened them to find ghosts and eggs! I got excited but all I got was trees.
Ha! And that reminds me! Last year someone posted early on that Nestle would be releasing a "Crunch Eye Ball." I thought that sounded pretty cool. I envisioned (pun intended) a a nice cliche' monstery round eye with a large pupil, bloodshot, etc... Y'know...a scary eye ball. The packaging even promised this though something seemed fishy when I noticed it wasn't round. I couldn't believe when I opened it that it was nothing more than a completely blank repurposed Easter egg chocolate. Oval and flat on one side. There was nothing eye ball about it! Hoping they make up for it by selling zombie Easter bunnies or something.

**MILESTONE DAY**

300 Days until Halloween.jpg
Good Morning Halloween Friends! And Happy Milestone Day!!

Today marks the END of the 300 count in this thread. We won't see numbers in the 300's in this thread until November 1st, 2022! And January isn't even done with Halloween milestones. This is just the first of a couple. On January 20th, we will celebrate 100 DAYS TO HALFOWEEN! And then on January 24th, we will see the arrival of the 250 DAYS TO OCTOBER milestone! And don't forget closing out the month with Dark Arts Sunday on the 30th, followed up the very next day by Jack O Lantern Day #1 on Monday the 31st! What a lineup of days! All of this is happening in just a few weeks time. It's really incredible.

Today's milestone is almost worthy enough for me to uncork a tune or two from my Halloween iTunes playlist!
Have a great day, friends! Happy Milestone Day!

Gotta love those bonus months! None of the counts look intimidating now - no more counts in the 300s! Wow.

Sometimes you see the 300 day milestone and think "Man, that's still a long way to go," but you don't really stop to consider that that's already a chunk of over two months that we've already taken off of the year.

Good Morning Halloween Friends! As you can see yesterday we vanquished the 300's in this current thread. There won't be any more counts in the 300's until the 2023 Halloween Thread!!

We are preparing to get a second snow storm this week, maybe a big one on Thursday night into Friday morning. Calling for 3 - 6 inches right now. We are certainly going to have cold enough temps. Low of 18 on Thursday night and only a high of 30 on Friday!

Have a great day, friends! Hard to keep Halloween thoughts in your head with snow on the ground and more snow coming, but I'm going to try!

Good Morning Halloween Friends! Almost the weekend again! And today marks us being only TWO WEEKS away from our next milestone, the 100 DAYS TO HALFOWEEN milestone!

There's a buzz going on right now, and I know that around here it is the anticipation of the coming snow storm. Between 6 and 7 PM today it is supposed to start snowing, with the heaviest snow coming at an inch an hour sometime overnight! I've already had thoughts of what I need to do today to get the place ready, like bringing in a few bags of wood pellets, making sure there is enough gas for the snowblower and generator, parking the vehicles to the back of the driveway so I can snow blow in the morning, etc..

This buzz feels like Holiday excitement / vibes! And it feels good!

Have a great day!

We get the "buzz" during Hurricane season, but it is not a good "buzz." I'd much rather have snow.

Ugh, I mentioned hurricane season and now I'm thinking about it. Big mistake this morning. Let's get back to Halfoween talk. Who's got special plans?

Others have mentioned it, but I am still enjoying Halloween candy, and of course Christmas candy. Then yesterday I was at the store and they had those cherry juju hearts that they didn't have last year because of factor closures. So now, I can go Halloween candy, Christmas candy, Valentine's candy and back again. In moderation of course, because I like like having my clothese fit!
