Good Morning Halloween Friends! Happy Thursday to you, or as I've been saying for the past few weeks "Mini-Friday". We're standing on the doorstep now to a big milestone day, and that's the 50 DAYS TO HALFOWEEN, which will be here TOMORROW! Today also marks exactly 3 weeks now until Jack O Lantern Day #2, and you can see looking at our counts, that we are now just five days away from the 200 DAYS TO OCTOBER milestone. Yesterday almost felt like a milestone day, with talk of Ambient Mixer. It's exciting to think that another one of the "Main" counts will be down in the 100's, and that's exactly where we will be next week. Have a great day, friends!

I had no clue there was such a thing. I just started listening to one and I'm going to be playing these at work. Perfect background music. Thanks, DiC!!!

So happy you are enjoying them!

*MILESTONE DAY*

Good Morning and Happy Friday! It's a big Friday indeed, as we have reached another MILESTONE DAY . Today marks only 50 DAYS TO HALFOWEEN, and as we coined the phrase a few years ago, "April is the new October".

Since it is a milestone day weekend, I am going to do something that I have never done before, and that is "cheat" and watch a scary movie either tonight or tomorrow. My movie choice also ties into our Monday topic / discussion.

I hope everyone has a great Friday. Save some excitement because we're going to need it next week when we hit another milestone - the 200 Days to October! Have a great day!

I started Spooky Spring by reading a series of YA novels called "The Solitary Tales." I read them for the first time years ago and decided to revisit them for just such an occasion.

Basically the books are about a high school kid who moves to the little town of Solitary, NC where a lot of strange and bizarre things start happening before things turn to straight-up horror. All of the books are really great and do a good job of getting you hooked on the story, and the latter ones have some strong Christian themes (no spoilers, but it's part of the story).

If you like a good mystery/horror story and can tolerate a few overused YA tropes like angsty teens making stupid decisions and the ever-present love triangle, then you'd probably enjoy "The Solitary Tales."

Good Morning Halloween Friends! We are in the middle of a major snow storm right now. They technically call it a "bomb cyclone" storm, but so far it has put down 2 inches and we have winds blowing it around in all directions. I've said it before, but one of these late snows, this far removed from "Christmas Season" is just depressing. We may get has much as 6 inches today before it is all over. Then tonight it gets down into single digit lows. The crazy thing? Beginning on Monday, every day this week is near 70 degrees!

Our next milestone day will be this coming TUESDAY, when we reach the 200 DAYS TO OCTOBER milestone!

Have a great day!

Good Morning Halloween Friends! The "Bomb Cyclone" storm is finally over. We were left with between 4 and 5 inches of snow. It got as cold as 14 degrees last night and was windy. In no way was that "October Weather", it was more like January weather. Today gets to 45 and tomorrow begins our 10 day run of being in the 60's and 70's! I'm going to try and enjoy those days. Trying to do some running and walking down at the wetland preserve down by my work. I had started running again a few weeks back, but then cold weather came again!

Have a great day, friends!

Good Morning Halloween Friends! Happy Monday to you. We are on the verge of hitting another milestone, as the counts above attest to. TOMORROW rings in the 200 DAYS TO OCTOBER milestone. Starting on Wednesday, we will have only one count left that is in the 200's, and that's Days to Halloween. We are almost halfway through March now, and I feel the tiniest increase in speed. March is not feeling like a slog, yet, and that is peculiar to me as the last several years this month has felt like we are moving in quicksand.

I mentioned a few days ago that with the weather and some overwhelming "Fall Feels" that I got, I was going to cheat and watch a scary movie last weekend. Well I did, on Friday night I watched the original "Blair Witch Project". My best friend and I had been talking about Burkittsville for the past couple of days because we are planning a trip there in the Spring, we haven't been in a long time, and the place was on my mind. Shortly after the movie came out, we went camping in the woods up there at Gathland State Park. That night, we heard sounds in the woods that to this day, we do not know if someone was just playing pranks on us, or if it was some sort of natural / other sound that just couldn't be explained. I think in my 37 years, that is the most afraid that I have ever been. This leads me to our Monday topic / question:

What is the most afraid you have ever been?

Whether it is from a scary movie, noise, or something else, I can say that in 2002 trying to camp in those Burkittsville woods was the most afraid I have ever been. My best friend is an Army veteran and also says the same thing. He is not a man to frighten easily.

Have a great Monday, folks, and see you tomorrow on MILESTONE DAY!

The most afraid I have ever been, in a scary Halloween sort of way? Well, I worked in an administrative building that consisted of three floors and a basement. The whole facility was rumored to be haunted. Back in the day, it had been Kansas State's women's prison and an early matron (would be called a warden today), if not the first matron, named Etta Beaver, was who was supposed to haunt it. On the third floor of the building there was an old chapel that was never used and kept locked. In the early days, the inmates were required to attend church each week and Matron Beaver played the organ. One day, I was the only person in the building for some reason and I heard the organ playing. So I grabbed the keys and went up to the chapel. As soon as I opened the door, the organ stopped. I thoroughly searched the chapel and no one was there. As soon as I went out and turned the lock, the music started. It sent chills up and down my spine. I opened the door again and did an even more thorough search thinking someone was pranking me. Nothing. And again as soon as I locked the door and started to walk away, the music started again. Thinking that I had missed something, I did a third search. When I still didn't find anything, I decided to just let it go. I don't exactly believe in ghosts, but I don't have a better explanation than Ms. Beaver was practicing for her next ghostly Sunday service. When I asked others who worked in the building, they reported that was part of the haunted lore.

Good Morning Halloween Friends! It's MILESTONE DAY! We did it again, and today is a BIG ONE. The 200 Days to October milestone. Enjoy it all day like I will, because tomorrow we will have only ONE "major" count left that is in the 200's. That's a little spooky this morning.

I remember picking out this picture last year. I can almost feel myself there. It's a cool day, the sun is out, and the grass is still green, but the leaves are changing. In this picture, we will mow the grass only a few more times before turning over to full time leaf clean up duty!
