Good Morning Halloween Friends! It's Wednesday again! The mid week point, as well as the MID MONTH point. That's right, when we go to sleep tonight, June will be half over. That makes us exactly a month and a half from FALL PRESEASON. I get the feels just thinking about how different everything will feel then.
Last year the first big change I noticed outside of Hobby Lobby was that bath and body works was in full Halloween / Fall mode by August 1st - I went in there the first weekend of August and the store was already fully changed over. So I'm wondering if maybe they started changing over at the latter part of July? That will give me something to start checking for in about a month from now!
Just a hair over a week now until we celebrate the 100 Days to October milestone. It will be back to back milestones again as we reach the Summer Solstice next Tuesday, then follow that up with reaching the 100 Days to October on Thursday. It will be a fun week! Have a great day!

It feels like the milestones for just about every countdown thread are coming in faster and more frequent now, kind of like a meteor shower. I'm really excited for that 100 days to October milestone...the Halloween feels will be super strong once we drop into the double-digits.

We're fighting the sweat fest right now, with breaks in it few and far between. The next break that we can see, is the 3 days stretch between this coming weekend, and Monday - 74, 76, and 79 degrees. That's some pretty nice weather in late June. Those sort of days give us a chance (And our AC's as well) to sort of relax and reflect. I try and think about the Bers as much as I can during those little spans.
I'm looking forward to at least watching a little bit of the Wizarding World marathon this weekend. I can't pass up a chance like this - Harry Potter, cooler Fall-like weather, It's a match made in heaven.

So, in a nutshell: There was previously an official version of the soundtrack to "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" released back in 2018, but since the master recordings had been lost, they essentially just ripped the tracks straight from the TV broadcast. While they managed to edit out the vocals from the cast, they kept in a bunch of the background sound FX. What resulted was a detrimental loss of audio quality coupled with incomplete versions of tracks and random noises interspersed throughout.
Fast forward to last year, when Lee Mendelson's children had excess time during Covid to scour their father's vault, and THEY FOUND THE MASTER RECORDINGS, along with a ton of other unreleased Vince Guaraldi material. This new, definitive version of the soundtrack will be taken straight from the masters, and it will include a lot of alternate takes and previously unheard music!
This news is exciting to Peanuts and Vince Guaraldi fans like myself. I wonder what other recordings they found?! Hopefully we'll see a definitive soundtrack release for "Easter Beagle" or "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" soon!

This is EXCITING news! I just listened to the The Great Pumpkin Waltz - Alternate Take 2 on Spotify. It is a slower version of the song with some extra piano in it at the end. That's my unprofessional first observation. LOL. I like the original version better as it is more similar to the movie version I've known since childhood. But I think that's the point of these new releases. To see how the songs evolved. He was, without a doubt, the quintessential "man of all seasons." I get the Feels anytime I listen to his music.
I also think David Benoit did an admirable job when he took the reins of scoring the Peanuts specials, even if he didn't do a lot of his own music. Some of his original stuff was really good, though. I'd love some full Peanuts TV soundtracks from his era. Oddly enough, his stuff evokes more spring/summer feels for me and Guaraldi's evokes more autumn/winter.

The next three days are going to FEEL like Fall, and I think it is important, a little boost of sorts, before we hit the Summer Solstice in 4 days and then my final "grind" begins to reach Fall Pre-Season. The breaks from the horrible weather after Tuesday will be few and far between. Every one that we get will be special!
I went by Hobby Lobby last night and it was just amazing to see all of the extra fall stuff that has came out since last week. Christmas is beefing up too! I peeked my head through the back doors looking for Christmas Trees and was greeted with the sight of what seemed like hundreds of MINI STRAW BALES! Those things hit me right in the feels, even seeing them from behind the doors / portholes.
Lots of feels coming next week folks, first the Summer Solstice, followed up almost immediately by the 100 Days to Halloween milestone!

This is probably the last time until late August when we get temps like this, and I plan on fully taking advantage of them. I think a motorcycle ride is in the cards for me late this afternoon, or on Sunday morning. I probably won't be able to smell any woodsmoke, but the temperatures will be right!
Folks - I think it is sort of awesome that the day before the Summer Solstice, it will be only 74 degrees. It's almost like The Bers telling us that the Sweat Fest is not going to be as horrible as it normally is, and to just hold on. I know that sounds crazy but I just have a feeling.
I am now being told that Target is starting to put out very small fall decorations, and if anyone has "At Home" stores where they live, they are allegedly putting out Halloween decorations! How amazing! Day 1 of SyFy's "Wizarding World" marathon also, today!
