Good Morning Halloween Friends! Another "Bers Cheat Day" as it is only 54 degrees outside, heading to an eventual 74 degrees. Happy Father's day to all the Dads today.

I'm going to work with my Dad this morning for a few hours. I'm starting to feel a little anxious about the milestones this week! Summer Solstice, 100 days to October milestone, Tom Turkey Day, AND the week finishing out with reaching halfway to CHRISTMAS! These are all just days away and within days of each other!

Have a great day!

Morning Halloween Fans! It's been a beautiful weekend so far and it will continue it looks like. Actually kind of chilly almost (well for June and shorts). But you gotta take it this time of year because you know there will be a long stretch of sweating. Have a great day!

Yesterday I went around to some town wide garage sales and I found some plastic candy corn that are fillable like Easter Eggs for my Great Pumpkin Egg Hunt and I can't wait to use them.

It really is a big week, so many things to celebrate. I am going to watch Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore today and meal prep and plan for the week. If I don't like it I will switch over to the Harry Potter marathon.

Good Morning Halloween Friends! Today is the final of the "Bers Days" that we are having in Northern VA. It's going to get up to 75 degrees today. The weekend was positively magical as far as temps went. On Saturday I tried my best to imagine that it really was September, and between the temps being what they were, and the Harry Potter marathon on SyFy all weekend long, it was quite the experience. Perhaps we will get lucky and our final JOL Day of 2022 will occur on a day like what we just had. While it's always possible, I don't see July's Jack O Lantern Day being on cool weather, but we have a much better chance at August 31st.

Folks - In a few days, a lot of magical stuff is going to happen. 1st off, TOMORROW, is the Summer Solstice. Then on Thursday, we have Tom Turkey Day, and the 100 Days to October milestone day. Then finally, this weekend, will be the HALFWAY TO CHRISTMAS weekend. Which leaves me to a different type of Monday morning question today:

Is your mentality / day to day approach to things going to change after we get Halfway to Christmas?

My mentality is going to be different here in just a few days after the Summer Solstice, because to me, it is really beginning the last leg of my journey back to The Bers. It won't even be a month and a half until Fall Pre-Season. And my Christmas meter right now is nearly full, especially now that Hobby Lobby finally has out Christmas stuff. In a couple of more days, it will feel like a whole different ballgame to me. I break out my year into several big "turning points", and Tuesday is in that list for sure. Have a great day!

You kinda read my mind with the question of the week. I had literally just posted over in the Bers thread about how my excitement will be cranked up another level after the Solstice tomorrow. Honestly this whole week is a big deal since Thursday marks just 10 weeks until the Bers, and we have Leon Day this weekend.

Change is definitely in the air. My wife was showing me videos on Instagram where people were already posting where they had found Fall items in the Target Dollar Spot.

I popped into Target when I went to Hobby Lobby on Saturday, no Fall items in the Dollar Spot yet, but I will try again!

Checking in after a long break. Been so busy with the new house and life in general but wanted to say hi. Great question! I put up decorations all year, mostly on the mantle, for each holiday. Yeah, even Fourth of July...wreath, couple small flags, red/white/blue lights. So when I take those down on July 5th i'm always struck that the next decorations going up are the Halloween ones. So, July 5th is my answer. It's my version of a holiday train. "Next stop... HALLOWEEN!...have your tickets ready."

With @SolidSnake84's question of Is your mentality / day to day approach to things going to change after we get Halfway to Christmas? My answer is it depends--I know, I know--typical answer for me. I definitely get more serious about watching for gifts or other things I can get in advance for the holidays, but the "we are sliding into the best time of the year first with the Bers, then with Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas" doesn't really hit me until about the middle of August.

FALL COUNTDOWN MEME.png

We're here now guys - The Summer Solstice and the very "last" season that is in the way of our beloved Bers. Heck, we're 41 days from "Fall Pre-Season" as I write this. Good times are immediately up ahead. I've enjoyed seeing the posts of Hobby Lobbies that are finally getting with the program, as well as seeing the fall stuff out in dollar general / target, etc...

My mentality has now shifted as we make our "final approach" to The Bers. It's 93 days exactly until the official beginning of Autumn, which is a big number, so my strategy, exactly the same as dealing with missing Christmas, is to battle this next part in small chunks. We've got a milestone day coming up in two more days, the 100 Days to October milestone. And Friday of course is Rudolph Day / Leon Day Eve, just a magic and amazing time.

I "think" it might feel like a short summer, Charlie Brown, because we had unseasonably cool weather throughout May and most of June, so the SweatFest, which will still be a bear I'm sure, around here meteorologically has only at most 2 months of being horrible hot. For everyone that will suffer longer, my heart is with you all. In NoVA, I am now less than a month away from the peak hottest day, which for many years here has been on / around July 20th. The rest of the way back is going to be fun!

Have a great day guys, and happy 1st day of Summer!

Summer is officially here and fall is waiting in the wings. The best part is the days will get shorter again. Spooky season is not that far off now either although i will try to focus on summer at least through July.

Sorry, summer lovers, but the arrival of the Solstice also means that the floodgates are open for Halloween news! Like this gem from a few days ago:

Or this one:

It's Halloween season, mates!

DAYS TO JOL DAY: 39
DAYS TO THE BERS: 73
DAYS TO OCTOBER: 101
DAYS TO HALLOWEEN: 131

Good Morning Halloween Friends! Finally, the first day of summer is in the books. On to Fall! Lol. There's still a while to go, but at least we are in the 30's now on the next JOL Day count, and TOMORROW, we will celebrate the 100 DAYS TO OCTOBER milestone!

Believe it or not, last night after dinner, I actually split a couple of logs to make as firewood for my fire ring. I felt like splitting wood on the 1st day of summer was sort of the best / most happy thing I could do.

There's only one day in the next 10 days that is supposed to be 90, that's pretty amazing as that will take me into July!

Have a great day, friends!

Good Morning Friends - Happy Milestone Day! Today at long last, we have reached 100 Days to October!

100 days to October.png
The weather is going to cooperate too, with today's high being only 70 degrees!

And what's up next? Well halfway to Christmas certainly, but we will be in a 60's count to the Bers beginning on Sunday!

Have a great day, friends!

Whoa, it's a triple milestone! Tom Turkey Day, 70 Days til the Bers, and 100 Days til October! What a great day!

Also, I'd like to petition to start "Spooky Summer." I am feeling some major Halloween feels, perhaps due in part to all of the Halloween news dropping right now. I feel like I could find Halloween candy showing up any day now.
