Morning Halloween Fans! Anyone in the mood for trick or treat? I'm just asking for "a friend" :). Anyway, I am off today but have some stuff to do. None of it involves Halloween stuff tho. Have a great day!
I would love to be prepping for Trick or Treat, and the weather here would be GREAT for Halloween. I guess we can dream, huh, Edge?

My wife showed me a video on Instagram today where someone found Halloween fabric already out on display in their local Joann store. The song "Spooky Scary Skeletons" was playing in the video. Totally stirred up the Halloween feels for a bit and made me excited for what's to come.

JoAnn's is a good one! We have one real close by. I will go by there this weekend to see if they have Holiday fabrics!

DAYS TO JOL DAY: 52
DAYS TO THE BERS: 84
DAYS TO OCTOBER: 114
DAYS TO HALLOWEEN: 144

Good Morning Halloween Friends! Happy Thursday! You can see on the counts we are marching towards 50 days to our next Jack O Lantern Day, and today makes it only TWO WEEKS until we reach officially 100 Days to October. Within a month and a half, there will no longer be any 100's in these counts, we won't see them again until the NEW thread goes up for Halloween 2023!

Another beautiful day here, the rain ended early this morning and the high is heading to 73 degrees! Have a great day!

I was at my local Joann's yesterday and they have moved Halloween/Fall fabrics to two spinning end caps, and they had Christmas fabric out too but my store typically keeps their remaining stock out all year round.
I didn't detect any "new" fabrics, by which I mean I didn't see any full bolts of fabric. I bought 11.5 yards of fabric and 2 yards of trim and my total hit $133, which breaks down to about $11/yard after sales/discounts, in the past I would say it would have typically been $8-9/yard. I appreciate having a fabric store close enough to go to and browse and our local store did a tremendous job during COVID and in my opinion, the overall corporation did a great job of supporting their stores by offering the bigger discounts for curbside pickup.

Oh yeah! Joann's and Michaels are like my secondary Hobby Lobbies when it comes to holiday stuff. In fact, I should go check them out soon. Maybe they will succeed where Hobby Lobby has failed this year.
I was at the Michaels in Ft. Wayne, IN last week and they had nothing yet. Fall or Christmas. It was such a letdown.

It used to be that sewing your own things was economical. Now it is just a hobby like any other and not an inexpensive one either--as you noted when you said it was an average of $11 a yard AFTER sale prices and discounts. A few Christmases ago, I made quilts for all my grandkids for Christmas and everything I needed for each quilt was about $80 per quilt. Now it would be closer to $250 each.

Good Morning Halloween Friends! Happy Friday to you all. Still nice weather here, and it will continue for a few more days. This weekend is going to be cool, with tomorrow only cracking 70 degrees, and Sunday barely reaching 80. But the sweat fest is back for a day on Monday, with the high near 90. We knew it was coming. There is a break in the heat again after that, and it looks like we go as far as the 20th, with no day hotter than 82 degrees. I still think that's amazing to think that by then, I've almost made it into July without it being horrendously hot every day on end.

Folks, we're under 2 weeks now until the 100 Days to October milestone, and tomorrow will strike exactly 50 days until our next JOL Day. It is worth mentioning that JOL Day #4 will be on the eve of entering Fall Preseason. Trips to Hobby Lobby and Jo Ann Fabrics are planned for this weekend!

Have a great day!

I am glad that you made them before the prices went up and I am sure that your grandkids love them and will treasure them. And you are right, it is a hobby and I need to think about what I would be spending if I was participating in another activity, like golfing. That will help me keep the cost in perspective.

DAYS TO JOL DAY: 50
DAYS TO THE BERS: 82
DAYS TO OCTOBER: 112
DAYS TO HALLOWEEN: 142

Good Morning Halloween Friends! It's not a milestone day, but it sure feels like one looking at the counts above and seeing only 50 DAYS until our next JOL Day. I can't remind you enough that this next JOL Day, will be on the EVE of FALL PRE-SEASON!

Only having five a year makes them special enough, but the last two really take on a special role, with July's leading us to Fall Preseason, and the final JOL Day of each year ending and taking us right home to The Bers.

We've got a cool and overcast day here, very reminiscent of one of our beloved "Bers" days. But it might be the last one for a while. The long range forecast is finally showing hot weather again next week, and I suppose it's time. We got almost to MID JUNE here before getting horrible hot, I think that's just amazing.

Have a great day, friends!

I agree with the last two JOL Days being special, maybe the most special ones of the whole year. Our next JOL Day being on the eve of Fall preseason is going to stir up a whole bunch of Feels, especially if I'm lucky enough to spot any early Halloween candy by then.

I bring these gems to you today. All of the pictured items I brought home.

Today for my leisure, I went to a discount food store that is on the outskirts of town.

Lo and behold, to my surprise, I found these beauties:

now granted, these are from last season, but they are still within their Best Buy dates, and I figure by the time these bad boys get eaten up, 2022 Halloween candy will be back on the shelves then, or very very close!!

Huge dose of the feels today, especially when I saw that they had Reese’s Christmas Trees in there as well. It was like being back in the bers there for a minute.

Off to Hobby Lobby!
