Good morning Halloween Fans!

Well, today is our Halloween Party. We are mostly ready but still have some things to take care of before this evening.

Last night was the last football game for the season for me. I have a league coaches meeting tomorrow, equipment turn in on Monday, and then awards on Nov 11.

With the season being done it gives me all of next week to really enjoy the end of the Halloween season. I plan to watch a Halloween movie (or more) every night. I have been saving my favorites for this upcoming week!

DAYS TO HALLOWEEN: 5

Good Morning Pumpkin People!

Super skinny count this morning. Even though we have been at single digits for almost the last week, it still seems surreal at times to see just one count, and see it so low. To be honest, I think I'm not quite ready to see Halloween Season end. With that being said, I think I'm going to start doing a "rough draft" of the upcoming 2026 Halloween Thread this week just so that we can hit the ground running.

Since we are still (sort of) early when thinking about the 2026 thread, does anyone want to see anything different as far as the format goes for next year? A couple of years ago I did a "weekly halloween thought", but to be honest I feel like that is Edge's thing over in the Thanksgiving thread, so I don't want to "steal" any ideas or anything. I have some ideas on some new stuff but would like to hear from others.

Jack O Lantern Day is pretty solid and the biggest thing for me each year is trying to figure out what movies I want to watch through the year, and anything extra/special that I can do on that day to make it feel more like Autumn or Halloween, but I have almost three months to figure that out before I hit the ground running with the first Dark Arts Sunday and JOL Day of Jan 2026...

That's all for now. That stuff was kind of on my brain and it's almost impossible to not have it there with less than a week now to go until Halloween 2026! Have a great day!

Good morning Halloween Fans!

The Halloween Party last night was great. Everything went well, the weather was great. Lots of attendees and everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves. It is a lot getting the party together, but so much fun!

I had to get up this morning and go to a football coaches meeting, but at least it did not last too long.

After I watch some football this afternoon I plan on getting at least one scary movie in!

DAYS TO HALLOWEEN: 4

Good Morning Halloween Friends! The final countdown has begun. It's Monday of Halloween week. The Halloweekend is only 4 days away.

Right now the forecast looks good for Friday. It has bounced between being rainy and just cloudy, but right now it looks good. There is another big rainstorm coming from Wednesday through Thursday, and we might get as much as 3 inches of rain.

I've been looking forward to Trick or Treating for a long time now, taking both kids! I hope it all works out and the weather stays good!

Have a great day!

Hard to believe that by this weekend we'll have a shiny, new Halloween thread...but here we are.

I don't really have any ideas, but I'll think about it this week. It's been a while since I've done my "fellow spooks" schtick and rolled out the Halloween Candy of the Week, but it's hard not to produce repeats when the candy companies aren't doing much innovation these days. A lot of this year's candies are just retreads of last year's, so I didn't see much of a point.

Music has always been an important part of the holidays for me -- all holidays, not just Christmas -- so I'm wondering if a spotlighting a weekly Halloween song or movie or other piece of media might work. I'll keep my brain churning this week.

Even though it has felt like an eternity for its arrival, Halloween week is finally upon us. Let's enjoy it while it's here.

Same for me. I don't really have any ideas but I do appreciate the thread and it will be a real jolt to see the 2026 thread start.

DAYS TO HALLOWEEN: 3
And then there was, Three?

Good Morning Pumpkin People! Three days are all that separates us from HALLOWEEN. OUR DAY. This is the big day in this thread that we count down to 365 days a year.

I echo Rich's thoughts that it felt like Halloween week took FOREVER to get here. I can also honestly say that I am not sure why, but Halloween Season, and October, FLEW by.

Most of you guys know my story for this year and you know why this Holiday Season that we are in right now is so special to me. It still looks like good weather for Friday, I'm taking off work a half day and that afternoon, Holly and the kids and I are traveling out to the Ginkgo Grove at the VA State Arboretum at Blandy Farms. The Ginkgo's are between 60-70% golden right now. If anybody wants to follow along:

I can promise you being out there in peak time is like being in another world. The first time I ever went there I felt like I was in a video game, or even on another planet. It just didn't seem real.

So that's my plan for Friday - Ginkgo grove and then back home to Trick or Treat.

Have a great day!

DAYS TO HALLOWEEN: 2

Good Morning Halloween Friends!

Hard to believe that we are in the last two days of Halloween/Spooky Season.

The weather still looks good for Friday, but things are going to deteriorate here later this afternoon and especially overnight. We might get anywhere from 2 to 3 inches of rain over the next two days. It's so dry here right now I think that we will be okay, and we won't see any flooding.

Thanks for the kind words, Edge, I too hope to give a full good report on Friday night before the new thread launches, and hopefully have a recap on my Halloween season and why It was so special to me.

Have a great day!

The closer that Halloween gets, the more I have to admit that I'm just not ready. Despite having lots of Halloween activities lined up for this year, it still just kind of "snuck up" on me. I wish we could extend Spooky Season by another week or so.

Strangely enough, the same thing happened to me at Christmas last year. I think there's a "vacation effect" at play in which the month feels shorter whenever I take a vacation or a trip somewhere. Maybe I should just plan stay-cations from now on.

Hello Halloween Fans! We have a mostly cloudy day here but temperatures in the low 50s right now seems ok to me. I think that I've adapted to the real autumn cool weather we have been having. I can't believe Halloween is Friday. Happy Halloween!
