First thing first, before we get into anything else:
JANUARY IS GONE!!!
Now, back to business. We're in the 50's now on our count towards Spooky Spring! And waking up this morning knowing that we are now in February, just 28 days from THE MONTH OF HOPE, is so psychologically boosting.
It also crossed my mind today that it is now exactly SIX MONTHS until FALL PRESEASON 2026. Holy smokes.
Today Dark Arts Sunday is being observed today because last weekend Rudolph Day #1 fell on a Sunday. This is going to be the first time Abby gets to set down and watch the first Harry Potter. She claims that she knows what it is, we will see.

Considering I nodded off last night before I could watch a scary movie, I am definitely going to put Sorcerer's Stone on this afternoon and while I prep for the week. I want to watch the entire series again before HBO releases the new series.

We wake up this morning, the big freeze is over, and we have a comfortable next 10 days above freezing. The big question on everybody's mind is if The Groundhog will predict an early Spring today, or if he will predict 6 more weeks of bad weather.
My heart wants him to pick Early Spring, but the realist in me says he probably predicts 6 more weeks of bad weather.
An interesting count here this morning is that it is exactly 180 days until Fall Preseason, or 6 months give or take. When I was still attending school (Non-College), 180 days was exactly the length of a "school year", "back in my day".
We won't have any milestones in this thread this week, so we are just going to enjoy the break from the arctic, and wish for fairer weather in February.

Hello Halloween Fans! I hope you are doing well on this Monday. It's another very cold day out but the sun is out. The temperature is "warming up" to near 30 today. We have low expectations around here this winter which sometimes is a good thing. Happy Halloween!
The temps are hovering around 30 here too, but the basement/crawlspace had a harder time holding its temps today. I bought a temperature/hygrometer monitoring system and I am now trying to pay attention to wind speed and direction and track what it does to the temps in the basement so I can be better prepared to prevent frozen pipes. I am going to get a new energy efficient door installed down there when I put a new door on the garage and hopefully that will help too.

We're in the middle now of the first full week of February! Crazy to think that next week this time we will be looking at the MIDWAY point of the month coming up next weekend.
I'm so focused on seeing 50 DAYS TO SPOOKY SPRING that another milestone is kind of flying under the radar, and that one is the 200 DAYS TO THE BERS. We will celebrate those milestones within days of each other. And as kind of an extra bonus, we will reach 200 DAYS TO THE BERS on Friday the 13th. Not a typo.

It was a great first JOL Day. While I didn’t watch any scary movies, I did put on some Halloween music and worked on my Spooky Season playlist. I think I’m going to have it playing everyday during Spooky Spring, so I want to be ready.
Starting this month, I’ll be joining the rest of you with Dark Arts Sundays, because it’s been way too long since I last watched the Harry Potter films. (It was just last year, but it seems longer.)

Hello Halloween Fans! I hope you are doing well on this Wednesday. I got my doctor checkup and my bloodwork came back good. I have a few other tests to take and hope they come back ok. I used to avoid doctors in my 20s and 30s but can't do it anymore. Happy Halloween!

I hope everyone stays warm and dry over the weekend, it is calling for more snow here today, and this weekend is going to be very cold, only in the 20's. But next week we get into the 40's and 50's, and perhaps this remaining ice and snow is finally gone from here next week. I want it to be Spring!

Good Morning Halloween Friends! It's Sub-Arctic Saturday here. Only reaching a high of 18 degrees today, but there is the threat of 40 mph wind. It is truly deadly outside. After today, we have a true warm up and the next 10 days look much better, 40's, and even a few 50's. This kind of weather, I am totally DONE with winter. Maybe as a man north of 40 years old now I might be done with winter completely.
Three weeks exactly now until JOL Day #2, and "The Month of Hope Eve"!
And we will see a BIG milestone on Tuesday of this week, 50 DAYS TO SPOOKY SPRING, followed up on FRIDAY THE 13TH with the 200 DAYS TO THE BERS! That's like having a holiday on top of another holiday!

My temps warm-up tomorrow and the highs will stay in the 40s and 50s here too! My car desperately needs cleaning and I will need to make an extra garbage run but I am going to wait until mid-week.
