I know what you mean. There is a certain "rush" that comes with waiting until the night before to pick up stuff. Can't quite explain the feeling, but it's a good one.

While I'm here, does anyone have any recommendations for a cheese blend to use in this year's batch of baked mac and cheese? I change up the cheeses I use every year to try to find that "ultimate" combo. Last year I used white cheddar, fontina, and smoked gouda, and it was pretty dang close to perfection, lol.
This is not a recommendation because I have not tried it yet but this year I am going to try pureed butternut squash and shredded sharp cheddar. I have compared recipes and many have very good reviews, and I have decided that since it isn't for a large crowd I am going to give it a try, I will let you know how it goes! Let me know what blend you go with!

23 Days. Yay!!!
I'm hoping we can get most of our Thanksgiving shopping done this weekend. And I get that "feeling" too when I have to go get something for Michelle at the last minute. But I love being in crowds. I like to people watch. I guess that's why I love an indoor shopping mall.

COUNTDOWN TO THANKSGIVING 2020: 22 DAYS

Happy Early November! It looks like our countdown dropped by 1 day since yesterday. Funny how that happens every day isn't it? We have 22 days remaining until Thanksgiving. That's 3 weeks and 1 day folks. There are no other counts remaining in this thread. Do you find it to be lonely when we have only 1 countdown or exciting? I know that I find it to be the latter! Of course, tomorrow is Thursday so I will bring all of you a poll to enjoy as we get closer and closer to the big day. Isn't November so awesome? No wonder it's 1 of our 3 countdowns. It's already been a lot of fun as the slow build to Thanksgiving has really begun now. Have a great Early November!

It's exciting to me when it gets down to just one item in the countdown. I mentioned a while back in the main Christmas Countdown thread that my 365 day personal countdown calendar that includes all of the milestone days here, as well as significant holiday dates for us personally, now only has the 50 days till Christmas milestone remaining. Very exciting!

I get more excited for Thanksgiving every day. I find only having one countdown increases my hype, and I won't feel bummed until we go back to three counts after Thanksgiving is over. That's the beauty of the countdown though...getting to do it all over again and knowing that our beloved holidays will return next year.

Something about hitting the 3 week mark tomorrow has me really excited, add that to there only being one countdown left is amazing. Have I mentioned how much I appreciate getting to countdown with you all? I am very grateful and count MMC, this thread, and all of you on my list of blessings!

COUNTDOWN TO THANKSGIVING 2020: 21 DAYS

Happy November Gem! Oh yea it's going to be a beautiful day here in early November. Boy no wonder we count down to November right? It's such an awesome month and the month of Thanksgiving which this thread is really all about. We have 21 days left till Thanksgiving. That's it for our counts. And since it's Thursday I will let you know that is equal to 3 weeks. That's it 3. Nothing more than that. Time for a poll this Thursday folks. Here it is below:
With Thanksgiving being only 3 weeks away what's your biggest concern?
A.) Not being ready for it and prepared.
B.) The turkey not coming out tasty enough.
C.) Not enjoying the Thanksgiving Parade as much this year due to the new "format."
D.) Not wanting it to end.

My answer to this one is close but I'm going to say C. I am a little concerned like some of you are about the parade this year. I may have to put an old one on if it's not up to par. We'll see though. It might surprise us. How about you? Have a great November Gem!

I can't believe 3 weeks!! I am going to say D.
With everything this year...I am so looking forward to getting together with my SIL and her family. There will not be as many due to the virus but I am treasuring it a lot more this year.

I'm going to have to say C as well. There is just something about waking up early and turning on the parade every year. I'm cautiously optimistic about the parade format this year, but there's always the possibility that it will be a flop. It's cool though - I already have my backup parade bookmarked on YouTube and ready to go.

B although we are doing cornish hen. I do have high hopes though. :) I purchased a never used... electric roaster at the Salvation Army a month ago. bargain.... and used it the first time for a 5 pound chicken.... came out perfectly! ( doesn't take much to make me happy! :)

My only concern is C this year. But just like @The_Escalation, I have a backup plan too. Due to Covid we will not be traveling to see family this year. So it will be just Michelle, myself, and our son who lives with us right now. I thought about smoking the turkey this year but now have decided not to. I think I would miss the smell of turkey roasting throughout the house. It's just one of those holiday smells you look forward to every year.

This one is hard but I am going to go with D, with just 3 weeks to go I am afraid I won’t want it to be over, I love the Weds-Friday that week so much that even thought there is so much ahead I am sad to see the weekend come!

COUNTDOWN TO THANKSGIVING 2020: 20 DAYS

Happy First TGIF of November! Oh yeah we made it to Friday and another great morning here in the Thanksgiving 2020 Thread. Let's look at our only remaining countdown this morning. We have 20 days left until Thanksgiving. 20 folks. Our next milestone is in 10 days when reach the "Home Stretch" to Thanksgiving 1 week from Monday. Is that enough for you? Thank you for answering Thursdays poll. I am glad we will be renewing it on an every other Thursday basis (and CW has agreed to return for the 2021 season as well to deliver his videos). That will remain and of course we'll have a bonus in "Tom Turkey Day" Thursdays. Now it's Friday though in the 2020 countdown. Let's enjoy it. Have a great First TGIF of November!
