The Escalation said yesterday, and I think he is 100% right, that we will see a big push to Fall / Halloween items in the stores following July 4th weekend. I'm kind of excited to see if that is the case!
I'll be checking my local CVS and Walgreens first. They are notorious for putting out their seasonal stuff really early. I'm hoping that by the weekend following July 4th I'll waltz in and spot some Halloween candy! Barring that, I'll be checking pretty much everywhere. That whole weekend is reserved so I can go Fall Hunting.

I guess we can't get back to Thanksgiving without going back to school, just hoping the new school year is better than last year!

Thanks for pointing out "Back to school". It is something that I don't think of enough when I am daydreaming about the countdowns. But you are right, July 4th, and "Back to School" are basically the last things standing in the way of being very close / back to The Bers.

The worst thing as a kid would be we'd be out of school for 1 week of 10 and already see "Back to School" signs!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 148
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 124
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 63

Happy Farewell To June! Before we bid farewell to the month of June and the 1st half of the year we have 3 big countdowns to get to. They are as follows: 148 days till Thanksgiving, 124 days till November, and 63 days till The Bers. Our next milestone happens TOMORROW folks as we welcome in the month of July. And the thing is that we also will welcome in the 2nd half of the year. And that half is all about everything that we love the most folks. It's amazing the 1st half of the year we've had here together. It's been a heck of a ride for sure but the most fun part of the ride is clearly the 2nd half of the year and it all begins tomorrow. We will also be here with a special poll tomorrow as the every other Thursday tradition continues that many of you I know do enjoy. I'll tell you all the 1st half half of the year taught me to enjoy each day as much as possible. And I think taking that into the 2nd half of the year will benefit all of us here to get the most out of it. Have a great Farewell To June!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 147
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 123
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 62

Happy July Arrives! We have arrived folks to a brand new month which means of course a milestone! First we'll look at the actual counts: 147 days till Thanksgiving, 123 days till November, and 62 days till The Bers. Our milestone today is the month of July arriving which is the start of the 8th month since the month of November. Big time milestone! Our next one? It's something we coin the "Final Fifty" which will be in 12 days time and be the Final Fifty Till The Bers! Uh oh. Yeah. And you might wanna check out the Holiday Hang Out on July 13th when we reach that milestone (cross promotion). Now here is a poll in honor of the 1st half/2nd half of the year since we're right in the middle.
If you were FORCED to move Thanksgiving into the 1st half of the year which month would you move it to?
A.) January
B.) February
C.) March
D.) April
E.) May
F.) June

We don't normally have 6 choices but today we do in our poll. We've talked about moving Thanksgiving before but never forced to move it out of the 2nd half of the year. My choice? I'd pick B. Need it when it's colder so I'll take February and maybe that would force everyone to leave their Christmas lights up for it. What about you? Have a great July Arrives!

Also check places like Lowe's and Home Depot. They get loaded up with that stuff in the store room and usually have to put it out on display early in order to make room for other storage. So don't be surprised if we see inflatable pumpkins and cauldrons flapping around the clearance BBQ's soon!

I'm gonna say "February" as well! Too many times it seems like all of us are doing pretty good through January and the early part of February, before the doldrums hit. It's even worse if the weather is horrible and making that last little stretch to reaching March seem like it is dragging! Another "big" Holiday in February would help with all of that, I feel!

But then the end of the year might feel a little weird, with that big gap after Halloween, and nothing again until Christmas!

I will say "C" - March. It would be nice to have another major holiday sandwiched between Valentine's Day and Easter (St. Patrick's Day doesn't count), and since our school district moved Spring Break into April, March is kind of a dead zone for us now. If ever there was a month that I needed a lift out of the doldrums, it would be March.

Thankfully, Thanksgiving is staying put in November where it belongs! :)

I think it would be nice in February to chase off my winter doldrums, especially years when Easter is late, but part of me thinks having it in June to spread out the joy might be nice too.

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 146
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 122
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 61

Happy Fireworks Friday! We have a big and long holiday weekend ahead of us here in the summer. This is my favorite holiday of the Non-Bers year. But first let's get to our countdowns. We have 146 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 122 days to go until November, and 61 days left until The Bers. Our next milestone will happen believe it or not in 11 days. And it will be the all important Final Fifty Till The Bers! That's right we coined it last year here "Final Fifty" and The Bers will have that as our next milestone. I am glad we still have time until that milestone as that one seems to be a little scary. But exciting at the same time of course. Thanks for all the votes on the poll from yesterday. I saw a lot of February listed as the choice for the poll. Just kind of February needs something other than the Superbowl doesn't it? No offense to V-Day & President's Day but they seem like not enough. Anyway, we're in July so let's focus on the present and the here and now. And we all should enjoy this time of the year while we can. It's very important to do that. Have a great Fireworks Friday!
