Good lawd help me!
It makes me smile just thinking about how awesome it must have been!People used to drive by and take pictures of it. Some brought their kids to pose in front of it. My mother really knew how to do Christmas.
Don't worry it's staying. Thursday is the #1 day of the week we should be reflecting on Thanksgiving throughout the year!I'm all for keeping Thanksgiving Thought Thursdays going after Thanksgiving ends. In the "dark times" early next year, thinking about Thanksgiving will bring a smile to my face and help me ward off the Post-Bers Blues.
Your aunt is the best CW!Afternoon all! We have arrived in the wilds of N Quebec safe and sound. Looks like we are the last group for the year in their bear/moose camp. I barely got done griping about unloading and the girl was at a dead run for the lake to go fishing. My buddy brought 2 camera guys with him for a hunting article and videos for their '23 dvd. My aunt says I was born 2 centuries late..lol. Will check in tomorrow!
I am 50% excited and 50% panicked/shocked!We’re still a good 6 weeks away from the weekend before Thanksgiving (our final stop until Thanksgiving Week).
Same. My morning routine before work is to grab a cup of coffee and sit down and cycle through those very same threads. Sometimes I am short on time and can't post, so I just read through them. And occasionally I'll get a late start and will have to miss a day or two.I've tried to be on here every day! Sometimes I may not post but I always read!
This thread, and The Bers and Daily Holiday Hangout are my main hangout places outside of our Halloween thread and the main Christmas countdown.
I hate to see the counts dwindling down but the passage of time is a fact of life. And sometimes I think "counting down" can be just as much fun as the holiday itself.
I think this year went by really fast but I think that's because after we got the news that Holly was pregnant, the time really flew by. It's got the unfortunate side effect as well of making Autumn go by too fast.
Have a great day! Gobble Gobble time very soon!
Same here! Maybe leaning towards 70% excited 30% panickedI am 50% excited and 50% panicked/shocked!
The passage of time is an interesting topic...that always amazes me. I think that why it goes so fast though is because we're all so busy with work, family, friends, bills, responsibilities, errands, hobbies, and then you throw in holiday stuff like the next 3 Sundays (after tomorrow) I have a Halloween event to attend. And the busier you are the time goes faster. That's why I just said something today (half kidding) to my sister when I saw her "I can't wait for January." lol...I was kidding mostly of course but told her with our brother coming from San Diego in December like usual on top of all the Halloween activities, getting ready for Thanksgiving, of course, etc. it just feels like we're racing. The reason people ask why winter seems to go slower (especially January) is because...people don't want to go out as much. Less running around, activities, holidays, outdoors stuff that you do in spring/summer/fall. So that's one thing we have to look forward to about our "Winter Doldrums" which will be January 1 - March 16th will be the time will go slower than it is now.I've tried to be on here every day! Sometimes I may not post but I always read!

I have Chicken and Noodles started in the InstaPot, it is one of my favorites and it makes a big batch, enough to share with anyone who may drop by while my BIL and nephew are here combining, and still have leftovers. So we have each other here on this Sunday to enjoy and reflect. Hopefully relax, maybe have a good meal today too? Not quite a Thanksgiving meal but something that will hold you over.
I have wondered if they have been waiting because of what prices have been doing and they don't want to commit to a price that will make them lose money. With all the turkeys that have had to be destroyed because of the avian flu, they also might not know about supply.I have Chicken and Noodles started in the InstaPot, it is one of my favorites and it makes a big batch, enough to share with anyone who may drop by while my BIL and nephew are here combining, and still have leftovers.
I keep checking ads to see if anyone has posted their Thanksgiving Meals, and for sales on turkeys, etc... I know it could be any day now, or they could keep me waiting until November!
Here is mine. Here's a question that I'll just throw out this morning: Does anyone else here have a Thanksgiving or November playlist?
It sounds weird, but I am always looking for songs to add to my many Bers playlists. I also "theme" my playlists, so for example -- my November playlist starts off with more Fall-like songs before hitting the big theme of Thanksgiving, and then transitions into more winter-themed songs and a couple of "Christmas anticipation" songs at the end.

It will be very soon!I have Chicken and Noodles started in the InstaPot, it is one of my favorites and it makes a big batch, enough to share with anyone who may drop by while my BIL and nephew are here combining, and still have leftovers.

Nice!
Very true, and I think November 1st gives me (and everyone else) plenty of time to make our decisions. I have already been pondering having ham if I do choose to cook, mostly because I feel it gives me more options for the leftovers for the long weekend that follows.I have wondered if they have been waiting because of what prices have been doing and they don't want to commit to a price that will make them lose money. With all the turkeys that have had to be destroyed because of the avian flu, they also might not know about supply.
