I'm going to go with "A" on this one. Black Friday isn't even really a thing here anymore, and it was waning even before the Pandemic put the kabosh on it in 2020. Places around here used to run on Thanksgiving day, some even had sales on the Wednesday before. I am curious to see what they plan this year, so many places are basically now 100% back to normal, so I am curious if anyone does a "true" black Friday sale.

But Black Friday "like we remember", that's a whole different beast. I would love us one day to have a discussion about that. As a kid, it was almost as exciting as Wrestlemania. I would look forward the whole year to going out of town shopping with my Mom and Grandma. It was just amazing. They would start so early, get in the door at places at like 5 AM. It was glorious... Enough rambling.

Happy Wednesday!

Oddball here. I'm going with B. Even though Black Friday isn't what it used to be, and I never went Black Friday shopping, I still love the nostalgia of it and what it used to be. I loved getting the newspaper on Thanksgiving morning (the largest paper of the year by volume and weight) and looking thru all the ads with the sales that started the next day. I really miss those days. Thanksgiving and Black Friday are still the dynamic duo to me.

My heart has just welled up with the feels. This is why I love these threads so much. Thank you again @Edge612!!! You're bringing pure joy to my life.

I agree 100%. In better days, I used to prepare for the Thanksgiving feast all week long. By thanksgiving, I was exhausted yet satisfied. It was wonderful watching all the people enjoy my meal, play games, watch football, etc. The next day I was still tired but charged up to go out with one of my older friends and take her to stores to buy Christmas presents.

Today, I'm thinking "A" would have to be my choice. Thanksgiving Eve seems like such a holy day, for me. It gives me time to reflect on people in my life who are no longer with me and spend some time in peaceful gratitude. I usually watch a movie that night. One of my favorites is the Walton's Thanksgiving. Or I'll just watch a Thanksgiving episode from an older TV series.

Wow, another really hard one. I do serious prep on Thanksgiving eve so it almost blends into Thanksgiving smoothly. I love the day after Thanksgiving, not for Black Friday but because that is when I put up all my Christmas Decorations. But then their is the whole week thing. Getting final ingredients, getting the house company perfect, ironing table linens. doing any early prep possible, making or making sure place setting favors are ready. I can's decide but if I have to narrow it down, I have to go with the whole week.

My gut reaction was A. I have been trying not to agonize too much about my answers. Thanksgiving Eve and Thanksgiving Day are a perfect duo, but I do love the whole week.

While I love Thanksgiving Eve and Thanksgiving Day, I gotta roll with the whole week.

I love everything about it. The prep, the Christmas movies, the environment....Thanksgiving for me starts the Friday before and lasts until the Saturday after. So much to love and enjoy!
I love the whole week too but I chose A because I center that week on those 2 days!

Not odd...depends on how you look at the question/poll. My initial reaction was your answer because honestly I link those 2 days Thanksgiving/Black Friday because those are the 2 days most people get off and it's kind of like continuation on Black Friday from Thanksgiving Day into the holiday season!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 49
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 26

Happy Halloween Season! Today folks we have 49 days remaining until Thanksgiving and 26 days to go until November. Our next milestone will be our “Home Stretch” to November but that won’t be for quite a while (2 weeks + 2 days). We continue along here in our Awesome Autumn. Seems like a lot of feedback on yesterday’s poll. It’s Thursday folks and I’m going to give you a “Thanksgiving Thought” each Thursday and encourage you to also (we’ll see how it goes right up till Thanksgiving Day). For now we’re just going general but long-term I have an idea I’d like to take into next year’s thread. My “Thanksgiving Thought” for today is I absolutely love the fact that Thanksgiving Day is on a Thursday every single year. I think it’s awesome. I kind of wish that we could do the same with Christmas Eve/Day (not sure though where I’d put them in the week). But I love the consistency of Thanksgiving. And I love that we know it’s going to be on a Thursday this year just like every year it is. What’s your Thanksgiving Thought for this Thursday? New weekly segment here. You can comment on my Thanksgiving Thought or feel free to give your own. We are getting closer and closer to our ultimate goa now in 7 weeks folks. Still a lot of weeks to go. Lucky # 7. Have a great Halloween Season!

I love the idea of the "Thanksgiving Thought" each week. I tried something like that over in the Halloween thread each week from the time we started the new countdown, until we reached back to The Bers. But I like the idea of a true dedicated weekly Thanksgiving Thought. It should be great fun.

I also remember debating online several years ago, I might have still been on R/Christmas then, but I remember us talking about if we could keep Christmas on the same day every year just like we do Thanksgiving. The opinion was 50/50 which was to be expected.

Have a great Thursday!

I love the Thanksgiving Thought segment!

Agreed that the consistency of Thanksgiving makes it enjoyable. You know what to expect for that entire week! And thinking about the week is exciting. Would Christmas or any other holiday benefit from the same kind of treatment? I think the idea of a "Christmas Week" sounds amazing, but if there's one holiday that should emulate Thanksgiving, I think it's Easter. It doesn't get enough attention as it is, and it's so wildly inconsistent that I can't even tell you what day or month it falls on next year!

"Thanksgiving Thought Thursdays", I like it!

My thought for today centers around the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. More specifically, the weather for the parade. What would be my favorite type of weather for the parade? I would like the weather at home and at the parade to be mildly cold. And I would like for it to be a little snowy in NY City too.

I couldn't resist. Had to make a graphic. I love this idea!
