Thanksgiving 2023 Thread

Low 60s today with rain most of the day. A definite fall feel. My friend had shorts on. Told him you're a day late I put mine away yesterday.
I need that turkey, okay both of them and the scarecrow. Probably good that store isn't by me.

DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 38
Happy Rain Out! Today folks we have 60 days remaining until Thanksgiving and 38 days to go until November. Our next milestone will be on Thursday when we reach Tom Turkey Day #10. It’s going to be greater than great. The biggest thing will be it will be the next to last Tom Turkey Day in this thread. That is hard to imagine but it is true. We have our September Tom Turkey Day Thursday and then we have an October one of course. After that? Tom Turkey Day will be Thanksgiving Day. Wow. We move along in our Awesome Autumn here folks. And we move along in our quiet 3-day weekend period with the final part of it being today. And I guess we should also mention where I am at least a rainy 3-day period. Very cool and very rainy weather here. Well at least it’s not Thanksgiving and turkeys aren’t getting wet all over. Now turkey fans I hope you are all enjoying your weekend so far and relaxing. Just remember today is a good day to watch some football if you have the chance to and the time to. And enjoy the feeling of being where we are on the calendar which is truly a great spot to be in. Happy Final Week Of September! Today folks we have 59 days remaining until Thanksgiving and 37 days to go until November. Our next milestone will be on Thursday when we reach the amazing Tom Turkey Day #10. Wow double digit Tom Turkey Days? You know things are getting serious then huh? Well we move along in our Awesome Autumn and begin a new week of awesome daily topics as we do every single week here. And today being Monday we do our Weekly Countdown Till Thanksgiving Week which now stands at 8. Yup a full 8 weeks we have. If you were a Simpson character that would be 2 hands. So we still have time and nothing to worry about but I think once October arrives it definitely will feel more serious. Not that September isn’t serious enough (it’s still The Bers) but I do think one thing we all love about September is how we ease into The Bers going back to school and football but not touching any holiday stuff. I think that’s one of the great things about September. And turkey fans I hope that your week gets off to the best start possible. And that you enjoy your Monday ultimately here in September. And the first Monday of Autumn as well if you realize that is today. Have a great Final Week Of September!

This is it. September goes in the books this weekend, but not before we have Tom Turkey day! The MMC special days have really spoiled me, I never have to go without Holiday Feels for very long. I'm so lucky.
Pretty soon turkey talk will really begin in earnest. I still get the jitters thinking about Thanksgiving day being so close!

I'll have an early Tom Turkey Day this week and get the turkey sandwich from Buc-ee's tomorrow. It's the best turkey sandwich by far, unless we're talking about one made with Thanksgiving leftovers. Now those are hard to beat.
While walking the dogs this morning, I ran into a flock of about a dozen wild turkeys scurrying about in one of the neighbors yards. Soon…. I thought. Soon I’ll have one of your more domesticated relatives on my Thanksgiving table!
Lol..and a domesticated is plumper! I have humped more mnts chasing those stupid birds and end up with nothing. Of course I hunt them with a bow so the odds are halved on me immediately.
Happy Monday everyone! Scored my yearly cider beer today from the orchard along with a few bushels of apples. Yes I survived the elk hunt and scored a 6x6, we put a mnt lion up a tree next to us. I told everyone "Dont pet the kitty!!" Our llamas didnt like it at all and the horses were very agitated. I ended up with a full blown cold thats still lingering.

I call September the Sweet Spot because we are in The Bers enjoying things we love but still keeping the Big-3 holiday months in front of us. And today folks is Picture Day. That’s what we call Tuesdays here. And it is the fastest rising most popular feature in this thread dare I say. I will be back later hopefully with my own pictures to add to all the great pictures everyone has been sending in lately on Tuesdays. I love all of them. Anything that screams Autumn or Thanksgiving is the best. Often the pictures have both feeling in them. They are interconnected. It's a cold rainy morning here. It definitely feels like fall. It doesn't get out of the 60's today. I don't feel like we are totally "done" for warm weather. I think there will be one final burst of two or three days where it might hit 80 again. But maybe not.

So, I have always wanted to have a fresh turkey for Thanksgiving....but have never been able to find one.
Yesterday, I found a place to get a fresh turkey and an additional turkey breast that will weigh between 10-12 pounds.
WHAT?!?!?!? That is to be a world record turkey. There is no way!!!!
