The days leading up to Thanksgiving are just wonderful. Talk about a huge seratonin boost. I think the only other days that might rival them are the days leading up to the start of the Bers. I feel the same kind of joyous, excited feeling during that last week of August.

I honestly think this year that I will try to save some of my vacation and take it during Thanksgiving week. I don't mind working during those "lead-in" days because I'm in such a good mood already, but I can only imagine how fun it would be to have some time off then!

I love the week of Thanksgiving. I have not worked that week for over 20 years now. It's very relaxing and full of excitement about what's ahead. One of the best weeks all year.

Those 5 days before Thanksgiving are full of excitement and while I wouldn't call them relaxing I don't find them stressful. I work the Monday and Tuesday of that week and have a pretty set routine, and then Thanksgiving Eve I am typically home alone during the day and that suits me just fine. That is what I love about MMC, everyone else focuses on Thanksgiving and the following three days, but here no one thinks I am starting too soon!

Thanksgiving weekend is also when we go to the tree farm and cut down our own tree. Another festive thing to look forward to!!!

Time for a new video today!

When I was growing up, they called the pip an egg tooth and both of my brothers had jobs cutting off that egg tooth so the poults didn't harm each other. And by the way, I consider myself a pretty adventurous eater but I would put "turkey fries" up there with Rocky Mountain oysters--no, just no.

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 321
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 299
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 238

Happy January TGIF! Today folks we have 321 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 299 days left until November, and 238 days to go until The Bers. Our next milestone(s) will be back to back Tom Turkey Day #2 in 20 days followed by the 300-Day Marker Till Thanksgiving the following day. It’s a long time from now isn’t it? That’s a good thing. We need some quiet times ahead. But that will be a big turning point for sure. You know how we feel about the “3’s” counts. It just feels totally different than the “2’s”. Now we move ahead here in our Winter Wonderland moving along feeling good. I hope you all are. No snow still here. Mild but cooling off. But nothing brutal. I hope you’ve all enjoyed your “back to work” week if you have gone back like I have. It always amazes me when a 4 day week happens because it feels long…and yet most of the time we do 5. How do we do it? Good question. But one thing I keep thinking is I’m in no rush for the days or weeks (or dare I say months) to move fast. Even this winter as much as I’m not the biggest winter fan I hope it drags on but not in a freezing cold/heavy snow way…just in a let time take its time for a change way. That would be good for all of us to give us extra opportunity to prepare ourselves for everything ahead of us this calendar year. I hope you all enjoy your Friday my turkey comrades. Keep it going all day long. Gobble if you have to. Have a great January TGIF!

Gobble gobble! Only 21 days left until we have no more 300 counts in this thread. That's something to look forward to.

By the way, a few days ago I teased the list of marching bands that are performing in the Macy's parade this year. I have no idea if this is the full list or not, but here is what's out there so far. Are you familiar with any of these bands or excited about seeing them in the parade?

Alabama A&M University Marching Maroon & White (Huntsville, AL)

The Band Directors Marching Band (Nationwide)

Fishers High School Marching Tiger Band (Fishers, IN)

Greendale High School Marching Band (Greendale, WI)

Jenison High School Marching Band (Jenson, MI)

Macy's Great American Marching Band (Nationwide)

Mercer Island High School Marching Band (Mercer Island, WA)

NYPD Marching Band (New York, NY)

O'Fallon Township High School Marching Panthers (O'Fallon, IL)

Rutgers University Marching Scarlet Knights (Piscataway, NJ)

Stoneman Douglas Eagle Regiment (Parkland, FL)

Texas Tech University Goin' Band from Raiderland (Lubbock, TX)

Did you know that when they 1st come out with margarine it was meant for turkey farms as a feed? Turkeys refused to eat it so they marketed it to people and come out with ads on how to much butter is bad for you to sell it.
The best part was when they showed how they made turkey bacon. It would take a strong stomach to work there. LOL.

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 320
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 298
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 237

Happy Week Into January! Today folks we have 320 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 298 days left until November, and 237 days to go until The Bers. Our next milestone(s) will be back to back ones folks. But don’t worry. They won’t happen this weekend. They won’t happen all of next week nor the week after that. Where are they? They are in 19 days from now when we reach Tom Turkey Day #2 followed immediately by the 300-Day Marker Till Thanksgiving. Talk about a special week folks. That will be crazy and amazing. But here I am already hitting the brakes. I know. I’m crazy but I’ve seen it before folks…January innocently moves by slowly…February is short so it goes much faster…and then we start moving fast into spring…I blink it’s summer…you get the idea. That’s why I’m trying to keep my eye on time this year. Much better. And we are in the first week of our Winter Wonderland. I hope all of you are enjoying your time in it. We have a very (very) long way to go. And I can do without any snow or cold but if we do get some I hope to make the most of it. Gobble away folks and keep that Macy’s news coming. Is it just me or does Thanksgiving now seem far ago? I think the holiday season moves fast but in some ways it seems to take a long time because we’re doing so much in it. Maybe that could be it. It’s the weekend so we’re chilling in this thread. Friday through Sunday style here. Have a great Week Into January!

Thanksgiving seems both far ago and yet so far ahead. We're still closer to last Thanksgiving than this Thanksgiving, though. I can't wait until we reach the point where that changes. Will be an exciting day to be sure.

But, living in the present for a moment, I'm excited about the two upcoming milestones happening 19 days from now! This will be yet another thread where we see the 300s disappear entirely from the count before January is over. That's something worth gobbling about.

I think Thanksgiving becomes real again when we pass the halfway point.
