DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 329
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 307
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 246

Happy Latter December! Today folks we have 329 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 307 days left until November, and 246 days to go until The Bers. Our next milestone will be on Sunday when we welcome in the Arrival Of January. A brand new month is always exciting folks. And it will signify that we have completed our 1st full month since the month of November (with 10 big ones to go). I hope you are all enjoying your week so far as we continue through the (very) late stages of our Happy Holidays in this thread and today is Thursday folks so you know I have a Thanksgiving Thought in my head!

I can’t imagine Christmas without Thanksgiving. What I mean is I know we on this site say November 13th is the Christmas Season, but in reality we know that most people outside MMC really consider Thanksgiving as the start of the holiday season. But what if we didn’t have Thanksgiving? What if Halloween ended and then November was just nothing special. How would we kick off the holiday season? Would it be on a random? I don’t think it would be the same. I think Thanksgiving is such an important part of the Christmas Season and helping it kick off in grand style.

When it gets right down to it I think Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas are all linked. They all go hand in hand (in hand) with each other. Keep it real my turkey friends and thank you for being here today. Have a great Latter December!

This makes me think of a discussion we had over on Reddit many years ago. The premise was "What If" Christmas was not celebrated at the end of the year. I felt then, and still felt now, that having all of the "good stuff" at the end of the year just seems / feels right.

If there was no Thanksgiving in November, I feel like people would have to just sort of randomly decide when it became "Christmas Season". Now, me personally, November 1st is the day that I start transforming the house and grounds over to Christmas. But part of that is so that our house is decorated and festive for when Thanksgiving arrives. If there was no Thanksgiving, it would be kind of odd. Just wouldn't feel right.

Good thing we don't have to worry about that! Have a great day!

All we have to do is ask our friends up north. Their Thanksgiving is in early October. It would be interesting to get their take on this subject.

As for me, ARE YOU CRAZY?! NO THANKSGIVING IN NOVEMBER!
I don't know if my brain can handle that question. I'd rather have you take away my birthday. It is very much a part of my Christmas and would hate for that to change. I think I need a drink now.

At 16.99 a pound I think I might consider ham and a Baked Potato Bar, which I have always thought was a fun idea but has been soundly rejected whenever I bring it up.

Here's an interesting take on that. If everything shifted to October, then that could be the lead to Halloween, then after Halloween, everyone could shift into Christmas mode because there would be no other holiday to "get in the way" of Christmas. 2 WHOLE MONTHS of EVERYONE, not just us Christmas fanatics, in the Christmas mode. Just a thought.

When I was visiting Canada before and after the Canadian Thanksgiving and the day after, they had some Christmas commercials on, I had the same thought.

I love the triathlon of Halloween-Thanksgiving-Christmas. Maybe it is because that is all I have ever known, maybe I am just a bit too conventional, but I wouldn't want to mess with any of it. I could go for Thanksgiving being a week earlier though.

I used to decorate for Christmas in early October just because my time was taken up with hunting trips until Thanksgiving week. Now the kids want Halloween up by mid August..lol (somehow they sneaked their scarecrows on a stick up already and a cinnamon witches broom) Now I just go with the flow..Christmas totes are numbered and arranged.

True! But it would make for a shorter autumn season which I love...I think the way it is though is perfect!

Those kids will have you putting up pumpkins by the 4th of July next year!

The retailers are already on that schedule. LOL.

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 328
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 306
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 245

Happy Next To Last Day Of December! Today folks we have 328 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 306 days to go until November and 245 days left until The Bers. Our next milestone will be the day after tomorrow when we reach the Arrival Of January. A fresh start with a new year. And a new month of course. We continue along in our Happy Holidays for today and tomorrow before we make a huge transition on milestone day. What is it? We’ll talk about it tomorrow. I love Fridays kicking off our 3-day weekend in this thread with no weekly countdowns, picture day, poll day, or Thanksgiving Thought. All just a relaxing time now for 3 days in this thread. But of course, we don’t take days off in this thread so we still have to post the daily counts and continue talking turkey. I really still think back folks. I know I have to let go and move on but the other day I was at work in the basement and looking around me thinking back to Thanksgiving Eve (my favorite work day of the year) and how even at that point I didn’t realize (or I did but it just is hard to imagine) what was about to happen. And all of the amazing moments from that point onward till now. And it blew my mind away and made me realize why I call Thanksgiving Eve the “Most underrated day of the year.” By the way I’ve added December 23rd to that list as right at the top of it. Such an incredible day that is also. Now for you turkey fans keep it real on this Friday and TGIF. Have a great day folks. Gobble Gobble as we move closer to the end of the year. Have a great Next To Last Day Of December!
