DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 73
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 51

Happy September Week! Today folks we have 73 days remaining until Thanksgiving and 51 days to go until The Bers. Our next milestone will be TOMORROW. It will be the Final Fifty till November. And that will be a major day for sure. But right now it’s Monday folks and as we begin our “Heart of Autumn” which is the bulk of our Awesome Autumn time period we’re in right now we look at our Weekly Countdown till Thanksgiving Week. Folks. We’re down to 10 weeks. OH MY GOODNESS. That’s why I say now we’re in the heart of autumn. Wow. The final double digits week countdown. Geez. Scary stuff if you ask me but exciting at the same time. Hopefully we’re in line for a great Autumn ahead. The weather this weekend was not so nice. Humid, cloudy, and showery. Not the best weather for this time of year. We’ll see if we can get better weather coming this week. Looks like it might take a little time. But we’ll deal with it one step at a time. Turkey fans I hope you are all going to enjoy your Monday and if you want to move to Sweden like Rich suggested your Thanksgiving Countdown will drop significantly. Keep it real my turkey friends and enjoy this full week of September that we have to enjoy. Have a great September Week!

There is no such thing in Sweden, you funny man
You must have been reading fake news, haha...

For us in Scandiniva who celebrate Thanksgiving, do so the fourth
Thursday in November. That's the only day to celebrate Thanksgiving.

When we started to celebrate back in 2007, I did not now anyone else who did.
But now, more and more Norwegians do (and Swedes)
I love this tradition

And it started with that they celebrated TG in my kids kindergarten
(because there was american kids going there)
My kids loved it, and wondered if we also could celebrate TG at home
And I said YES of course.

I have invited all my family for Thanksgiving since,
and thats the highlight of the year for my family.
Thanksgiving is not an official holiday in Sweden, but I do have friends in Sweden who celebrate Tacksägelsedagen on the second Sunday of October every year. So I honor it in my countdowns for them.

When I see a long word like that one, I can't help but look it up to see what it means. In this case, every article I saw was also written in Swedish! I did manage to find one with an English translation, however:

The Swedes actually have a lesser known holiday called tacksägelsedagen, essentially translated to “giving thanks day.” According to Svenska kyrkan (The Swedish Church), it is celebrated on the andra söndagen i oktober (the second Sunday in October). Folks would traditionally gather at the church with sacks of harvested produce and tackar Gud (thank God) for a bountiful skörd (harvest). Apparently, there are still harvest days at churches in a few places in Sweden.

10 weeks to get myself and my house in shape for the holidays! I can do it! The Weekly Count always inspires me!

Ok, Im sorry. So nice of you @Rich

I see, it's a church service. I had to google
Never heard of it, and Im brought up with both Norwegian and Swedish traditions

I couldn't find any Swedish church near me that celebrate that day
Actually I read that there is only a few who do celebrate, but I couldn't find any

I also found out that we do have that day in Norway also (called Michaelmas)
But it's only one church in my county who has that service, on September 25th
Unfortunately nothing to eat though :)

Thank you, for letting me learn something new!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 72
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 50

Happy Dozen Days Of September! Today folks we have 72 days remaining until Thanksgiving & 50 days left until November. We have reached a big milestone folks the Final Fifty till November. Wow. Our next milestone? It’s going to be the OFFICIAL Arrival of Autumn which takes place in 11 days. We move along in our Awesome Autumn and really in the heart of it all which we talked about yesterday feeling good. And Tuesday we love why? Because it’s Picture Day that’s why. Obviously. Definitely a favorite here in the Thanksgiving Thread that has grown in the past several months I think. And turkey fans I hope your week got off to a good start on Monday and that you carry that momentum into and through Tuesday. Definitely been kind of cloudy/rainy here the last several days and looking for it to break at some point and to get some really nice late summer/early autumn weather in the coming days. But for now it’s still touch and go here. September storms can happen but normally we get some of our nicest weather in September. I think we’ll have some of those days coming soon by the looks of the forecast and I hope that is correct. Post those pictures my friends on Picture Day. Have a great Dozen Days Of September!
